    I've heard a testimony a docs that was a little bit shocked at how they treat potential organ donors. The fact is in an ER you don't necessarily get the opportunity to have a 2nd opinion about you being pronounced legally dead.

    Under the hood most deep learning python libraries are calling CUDA libraries. The python code does very little computation, but it's usually a much cleaner to use python bindings. Essentially, it all has taken off because we can now efficiently compute large matrix multiples on GPUs. I don't think the symbolic approach can be easily formulated as a matrix multiply. I imagine that symbolic approaches require quite a bit of control flow, which in some case be detrimental to efficiency on GPUs.

    An OS in the Android world is really a runtime. The Android runtime runs all the Android apps it needs to, so who cares how much lipstick they put on that pig?

  6. Commercial drone deliveries require a certificated remote pilots with direct line of sight of the drone or visual observers with direct line of sight. Also you can't fly over people. This is mostly research/publicity stunt.

    Evertime my packages are lost it has never been actually stolen. In one instance it was lost after the shipper gave it to the post office, but before it made any progress.

    I've had various shipping companies drop packages off at my neighbors. Fortunately they have been honest, albeit a little annoyed. My last package was delayed 2 days because my neighbor didn't feel like braving the cold or the rain. The funny thing is it said apt 3 and they dropped it off at a house.

    With shippers like mine who needs thieves?

    This idea that you can't buy something without the government knowing about it leads to the inevitable you can't buy something without the government approving of it. This fear of not being able to trade freely has been around for a long time. The bible had the mark of the beast.

    My brain is sort of like at a matched filter. It filters out stochastic noise. I just don't see my attention span getting any worse because there are more websites to go to. I've just become better at figuring out which sites or pieces of information are worth consuming. Technology has become better at assisting that filtering process, so my attention span has improved.

  15. The vast majority of iPhone users I know use the same password everywhere and don't use 2FA, so that's not really a good argument. Maybe Android has this problem too, but I find iPhone users much more likely to share their passwords with me. Fools!!!

    The world is analog. Digital is just a high gain approximation. In nueral networks we spend huge computational resources to approximate digitally the stochastic processes at work a single nueron. The brain isn't even close to being digital.

    The problem is that experience can do one of two things to developers. Open your mind or close your mind. Many programmers refuse to open the Pandora's box and they stick to a tool, paradigm or coding style they know even though its not the best thing to solve the problem at hand. It's like a carpenter trying to cut down a tree with a circular saw because that's what he spends 99% of his time using.

    It's may be logical to say if you are a HRC supporter you are not a Trump supporter. The inverse is not necessarily true. If you aren't a HRC supporter(or even if you are an HRC hater) it does not imply you are a Trump supporter.

    The cloud providers are not police men. They have no responsibility to make sure their customers are following their policies. They do have a responsibility to shut them down when a violation is found.

    They also have very little incentive to stop something that isn't really affecting their service or their brand. Most people don't even know where malware is hosted.
