    But, seriously, being to cool down the detectors so low is great, although I don't think that it is a "first" (citation needed).
    Didn't COBE have super-cooled detectors also? I'm too lazy to look that up..... ;-)

    As a Canadian, also a resident of BC, I hope that both our federal and provincial governments will tell M$ to hire CANADIAN CITIZENS first, and pay them wage^H^H^H^Hsalaries that are at least at par with those in similar industries in this area.

    I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of qualified Canadians who would be interested in this move by M$.

    Won't happen. Can you imagine the lawsuits that would result if it was proven that the monitor's UV channel caused skin cancer ?

    I wonder why a Canadian team is paying that much money to fly from Ohio ... it seems like the vast Canadian tundra would be a far cheaper alternative, and the Canadian government would probably even lend some of their military airports to support Canada's image worldwide (not that it really needs much support).

    I haven't really been keeping up on what's happening there, but we do (used to) have a "Spaceport" in Churchill, Manitoba. It is/used to be the launch site for sounding rockets like the Black Brandt and the Nike-Orion.

    Apparently, it would be a good site to launch (sun-synchronous) polar-orbiting payloads from....you don't need to be near the equator to do that.

    Every time I read a story like this it makes my alch^H^H^H^Hblood stream boil..... Here in Beautiful British Columbia, the provincial government in 2003 changed the labour laws so that "High Technology" companies DO NOT have to pay overtime (to an insane point). This was done so as to appease to the Asian investors (a lot out here !).....the ones whose work ethic is something like "you live with your wife but you marry the company" (an actual quote from someone I tried to get a job from a couple of years ago !!). I'd love to move to "greener" pastures, but there ain't none this time of year....they're all white (snow) !! Fsckin' asshole government.
