OK.....as long as I don't have to log in via Facebook or Yahoo!.....Space.dot.com started doing this recently, and NOBODY's posting because of this (including me, a long-time poster there). Great security risk, AFAIK.......
VTech used to have a few electronic toys which would sound out the words for each number key pressed.
What was really funny was that, if one pressed 5 then 2 quickly enough, the resulting sound would be F****OU......great fun at otherwise boring engineering meetings (I used to work for them in the telecom division)...
Needless to say, the toys division changed their design.....:-))))
If I buy one of those, does Zoe-whats-her-name come with the package????
Tall (10 ft!). blue-skinned, nice real piece of tail....every basement boy's dream...:-)))))))))))
Really? Why not T2O?
Of course, you may be correct if the ratio of Tritium to Hydrogen was equal, but maybe this is statistics in action. ?????
Also, I guess it depends upon exactly when and how the water molecule was created or altered......
Actually, having Spirit getting stuck has taught us *a lot more* about the surface composition of Mars. Fluffy soil->somewhat hard thin crust->sandy soil....who knew???
This is still a real "opportunity" (no pun intended) for Spirit to do some good soil science, never mind the valuable weather data!!!
"It ain't dead (yet), Jim":-))))
Yeah, I have visions of its camera eyes slowly pointing downward while its motors utter a mournful groan......
Heh, a commercial just came on the TV.....music lyrics were "I'm tired....I'm worn...." Dunno who wrote that but it applies here.....;-(
One never knows......maybe if they can wake up Phoenix after its winter slumber.......now THAT would be a technological achievement!!! (Paws crossed!!!)
I also feel bad during the winter months.....must be SAD (Seasonal something Disorder).....today was good, the Sun was out (2 weeks of f**king rain!)....
The arm was never designed to be used in that fashion. It simply doesn't have the "strength" to do any pulling or pushing. Even if they tried to use it as a support (your #1 suggestion) it can't bear the load.
That's the "new" Outer Limits" series you're thinking about. You should really try to watch the original series, produced around the same time as the original TZ....quite different, if not as scary.
I believe that a couple of episodes starred a young Leonard Nimoy and Jack Klugman (different episodes)......and a few others whose careers were started/enhanced thanks to TTZ.....right???
I'm in my mid 50-s and still vaguely remember TTZ and TOL......they scared the crap out of me back then!!;-(
Fortunately, one of my cable providers broadcasts TTW on Saturday nights......it's really good to see those episodes after all these years.
Sadly, I haven't found a source for the original Outer Limits......I should really consider looking into DVD sets...:-))
Actually, the reverse might be more valuable. Have the students put together a simple oscillator (Hartley, Colpitts, whatever) and get them to actually measure the frequency. Use an oscilloscope or frequency counter. Change some of the circuit (L, C) and observe the effect. Also, play around with the transistor biasing.
Yes, this involves more theory and more test equipment.....but if the school's "with it" I'm sure that the expense will justify the means.....:-)))
Old self-taught Electronics geek here.....used to love making 50KV power supplies out of old TV parts (EVIL grin)......
Good starter project, describes the basics of switching using transistors.
Next step, IMO, would be to convert the FF described into a bistable mode (replace caps with (say 22K) resistors). I'll let you research that one...;-)
The cool thing is that, once you get a working circuit (changing states according to a stimulus) you can get the kids to cascade those FFs and observe the LED states. Great way to learn the binary number system! Plus, you could get really fancy and hook an astable FF (first project) as the trigger, set it to a high rate (ala speaker "buzz") and let them find out what happens further down the chain via sound.
Oh, them good ol' days....that's how I started experimenting with digital......hands-on is the best for things like that.....cheap, simple, and educational. Too bad they didn't teach that when I was going to school, I learned it on my own....better karma!!
Uuugh...forgot to log in first, the above was my comment,
Credit is due where credit is due. ;-)

Let's see.....tweaking my cardio-enabled phone to....wait for it.....
WAIT FOR IT.....
"BWWWEEEEEEEEE......BWWWWEEEEEEE....BWWWWWEEEEEEEEE...."
Got it! Spock's heart rate while lying on McCoy's magical medical bed in the original Star Trek.
Take THAT you (red) blood-sucking corporate parasites!!!
Right on... As "Scotty" said (ST:TNG)....."Just because something is ollld dinna mean that it's a pile of junnnnnk"......(bad Scottish accent!!!)
Sure he's not studying to be a politician?
That's what our government does.....flap its wing....er....gums........with no results.....
Awwww..my weekend is now fsk'd up.....I thought it would be fun to have a mini tornado to play with!
Wot, you mean Paris Hilton?????
Good call @purplerasion!!!!!
But we all know is......wait for it.........
42!!!!
"Millions of millions of lines of code"
How many of those lines were just comments????
Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now? ZZZZZZAAAAAPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!! (puff of smoke) shrivel.....
In Soviet Russia....words own you!
Quit feeding the squirrels Red Bull, and they won't have wings, you insensitive clod!!
A comment about "Animal House"....where did it go???? Not happy, it was supposed to ne funny!!! ;-((((
I guess one can't call it an "Animal House"....wasn't that the name of some movie? :-)
