Release date so far is vague, but I`d guess Fall 09.

Then again, this is the same group of people who successfully sued the glue manufacturer who created the glue that failed to hold up 2-ton slabs of concrete. Never mind that the glue was never designed for such an application or that no one in their right mind GLUES 2-ton slabs of concrete to the ceiling of tunnels.

Well that`s just a blatant misstatement, and while I`m not saying the MBTA is a well run organization, they don't need additional problems attributed to them.

First of all, the slabs of concrete that fell were part of the Big Dig, which is run by Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, not the MBTA. Both are poorly run transportation organizations in Massachusetts, but they are not the same.

Secondly, the suits in the ceiling collapse were brought by the Massachusetts Attorney General's office not the MBTA. They were brought against many of the companies involved, including the adhesive company and Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff, the primary consulting firm. The Turnpike Authority was not really to blame, it was either BPB for using an adhesive meant for wall panels for ceilings, or the adhesive company for not realizing their product was being improperly used. Both were sued by the Massachusetts Attorney General's office and paid millions to the state.

Blacks make up 12-15 percent of the population, but 90+ percent of professional athelets.

Wait really? What a ridiculously misguided statement! Seriously, who is modding this up? Let`s take a quick look to see how inaccurate you are.

First off, let`s decide what sports to look at. I`ll go with the basketball and the NBA, MLB for baseball, and the NFL for football. I won't even count NHL hockey, and leave one of the biggest sports in the country NASCAR, off the board for a few reasons, A) I think you weren`t considering drivers athletes at all when making that claim, and B) them being termed athletes in the first place is a debatable claim.

So first off the NBA, let's look at the Season Racial and Gender Report Card 2006-2007

This states that 75% of NBA players are African-American, and during the 1994-95 season there was an all-time high of 82%. Hmm, not quite 90%+, but let`s look at other sports!

The MLB, which is notoriously losing it`s African-American makeup, had only 8.5% African-American players during the 2005 season! 2005 Race and Gender Report Card

Wow! 90%+ is there, but wait! It`s 90%+ NON-African-American players! And if you want to bring out Latinos and other races into the picture, 28.7% of players were Latino, and 2.5% were of Asian descent. Leaving over 50% of MLB players white! Not exactly one race being better at something than others now is it?

Finally we can move onto the NFL. Which in 2003 had a historic high of 69% African-American players. 2004 Race Report

So no not really 90%+ black players at all! In fact not even close in any of the major sports leagues in the United States. I`m reasonably sure the statistics are consistent for the top soccer leagues around the world, particularly, in Europe, such as the English Premiership and the Primera Liga in Spain. FIFA has made rules that these leagues require a minimum threshold of native players on the club teams so it`s less likely that the teams would consist of over 90% black players.

Seriously though I can`t believe the parent post was so blatantly incorrect and modded up like that. Do a little research or at least have SOME knowledge of what you are talking about before you go crazy. Christ, you could watch an hour of ESPN and see that the 90% figure is wrong.

Well actually Sim City 4 was, and still is, a solid effort from them. They expanded the ability to users to modify aspects of the game and there is still an active community creating user content 5 years after it came out. Many people complained that the game was becoming too complicated and thus didn't garner widespread success. But seriously to summarize the Sim City franchise and not include Sim City 4 does not do the game justice.

Now don't get me wrong, I think EA has done a lot of bad to the gaming industry. Their exclusive contracts with the NFL and NCAA for football (which forced 2k Sports to go exclusive with the MLB), have in my eyes, ruined the sports game industry. Not to mention the worthless Sim City societies that EA recently put out, that wasn't even developed by Maxis.

Seriously though, if you want to> see a great game in development, one that will become the new Sim City, check out Cities Unlimited, http://cuplanet.com/. Monte Cristo is taking in a lot of public input on their forums for the new game and by all accounts it looks like the new Sim City that people have been waiting for.

While it's interesting to see the statistics for the workforce as a whole, I think it's interesting to point out that this is another major disadvantage for low wage workers. The types of jobs where you can slack off for 1/5th of the day aren't things like janitors, factory workers, or other lower level service personnel. If you factor that into the amount of work done per hour paid, the disparity between salaried office type work and low wage service work is even greater.

When I first started at my office job during college, I was so used to being in the basic service industry that I didn't fit in right away. I was used to just taking a task, doing it, and immediately going back to the boss for the next thing. I didn't realize that the culture I was in was for slower progress on tasks and there wasn't a need to rush and be essentially managed by the boss every second of the day.

Just some things to think about. A lot of people don't realize that for a lot of American workers, and 8 hour day really means 8 hours.

  23. The "Real" Emissions on NASA Tests Hydrogen-Fueled BMW · · Score: 2, Insightful
Don't get me wrong, hydrogen fueled vehicles are a great thing for the future but we really need to look at the overall environmental impacts of the hydrogen fueled vehicle. Right now the life cycle emissions of a hydrogen car depend heavily on how the hydrogen is created. While the vehicle itself may have no emissions, the process of creating that hydrogen can be nastier for the environment than a gas powered car. If you are creating hydrogen from coal power plants or compresses natural gas (which is the norm for quite a few operations), then you are having a higher impact on the environment overall than a gas vehicle. But if you`re using renewable resources like hydro power to create the hydrogen, then we are starting to look at true zero emissions vehicles.

This is not to mention the life cycle of the vehicle itself. The manufacturing of hydrogen vehicles can be 3 times more detrimental to the environment than the manufacturing of a gas powered vehicle.

Clearly we are on the right path to less impact on the environment from vehicles, but it really depends on how nations/corporations choose to get their hydrogen fuel. Putting all the emissions in one location rather than from millions of cars is a good start.
