/. should try this to see if this guy's ramblings are of interest to the readers here:
Let him submit his blog articles through the normal channels here as an "Ask Slashdot" sub.
If it is worth anything, it will get voted to the front page.
Opening scene of ep VII should be C3-PO waking up from a 30 year hibernation mode and say: "I just had the strangest dream that I was built by a young Darth Vader, hung out with an irritating alien no one liked, and everyone spoke in the most flat, two dimensional manner. It was a horrible, horrible dream. I'm certainly glad none of that actually happened."
That is one way that ep VII could save the series and get it back on track.
It's a good solution, but how good of a resolution will we get out of it? Will we only see something along the lines of the "pale blue dot" image that Voyager took of the Earth?
Is there anything really to be gained or learned about imaging a distant planet in this way? Could we can get finer information about its composition?
The perpetual distribution rights have nothing to do with copyright law. That was an agreement between Lucas and Fox. Lucas needed money to make the movie so he sold perpetual distribution rights to fox. Once Star Wars did so well, he was able to fund the other movies without having to sell so many rights.
I don't see how the "mainstream" market would really have a need for 3d printers. Those who are hobbyists will always find a use for it, but "mainstream?" Maybe I don't understand what the author means by that.
We use a 3d printing service at work when we are prototyping hardware and light fixtures and such. Those services are getting cheaper and I see that as the way the "mainstream"market market will go. The only thing I have found to make is custom lego mini figure accessories for the kids.
I skimmed it long enough to see it's drivel that sounds like it came from a tenth grader.
Seriously/., why do you keep giving this guy a platform to spout mundane "ideas?"
Editing for sound quality is one of the things that separates amateur video from a professional piece. Like color grading. It would be a stretch to call it lying. In this case it seems just a dumb mistake.
Could be why the visitors in the article "debunking" the original haircut story didn't see anyone with that cut. It's a law, by one that applies to no one.
Except that the 2 "habitats" that Bigelow launched are not habitable. They were for test launching/inflating, but they are not set up with any sort of life support. Those are still in development.
It'd be great if Bigelow can carry on and I'd love to see Bigelow and SpaceX do something together.
I haven't heard much of them the past few years, except that they are currently developing a habitat that would be rated for manned missions. I hope they are moving along with it.
Although the next ting they should do is hire a web developer that isn't stuck in the late '90s. Cheese.
Personally, I have a better idea: Let's just accept the fact that life is complicated and there are no easy answers, regardless of how fun it may be to blame those evil nasty rich folks.
So, your "better idea" is just to let bad shit(decisions) happen unaccountably, because life is complicated?
In 5 years, the 5% that survived the -20% will be 100% of the population.
You mean that the 5% that survived need to wait 5 years before becoming 100% of the population?
It seems to me they immediately make up 100% of the population.
It could be that they were not stinkbugs you were killing. It could have been Coreidae, or squash bugs. They are in the same Infraorder and look similar.
So, you're quoting from, and linking to, The Heritage Foundation and Fox News...
Yeah...no spin there at all. I'm sure the math is dead-on.
Please don't pretend that Reagan's spending was not out of control.
the phrase "FUCK BETA" will forever be echoed across the internet to express displeasure in unnecessary, crap changes to useful, working systems.
Here are a few things that are crap about Beta:
During the day at work I access/. on my phone. Even though I tell my browser to report as desktop, not all the page content is getting through (apparently.) So, I cannot scroll to the bottom and click on "Classic Slashdot" because it isn't there (on my Android.)
I can't log in. Seriously, I click the menu icon at the upper left, it expands to show the link to Sign In. I click it, and all it does is re-load the current page.
Besides that, it is a design nightmare. It looks like a Fischer Price toy. I presume you are trying to be trending looking, following social media sites' design to try and attract new users? I dunno, that doesn't make sense, either...I'm just guessing here.
The point is, stop trying to look trendy-minimalist. It hurts the eyes (especially on a mobile device,) and you've lost functionality. And you are also at risk of losing your user base.
I promise you this, though: regardless of what happens - Beta goes forward or it is Killed off, the phrase "FUCK BETA" will forever be echoed across the internet to express displeasure in unnecessary, crap changes to useful, working systems.

I would imagine they would not need a warrant, since the rightful owner is giving permission.
What has nine arms and sucks?
Thank you! I'll be here all week!
The obvious solution, then, would be to have the carrier pull double duty as a fishing trawler! Mmmm...seafood.

Seriously
It is believed that the takedown was a result of Sony Electronics adding Sintel to their official 4k demo pool.
This sounds like Sony is the infringer.

Most academy award winners? Not present.
Most Oscar winners? Not present.
Those are the same thing.
Also throw in: "idiot blogger writes up his goof as a design flaw to drive traffic to his article"
...to get/make an IR License Plate frame.

iWatch Beta disenfranchising the /. community.
I wish I had mod points. I will be on the phone tomorrow.
it's very possible and even likely that from his perspective this was more about a chance at a menage e trois
And much to his chagrin, he was greeted with a Penthouse Magazine and a turkey baster.
