There is also a compiler/laungage I like, call Game Maker. It advertises "no coding required", but you can't do much without learning the langauge, but it is pretty easy. It has been called cheap, kiddie, and everything else, but it isn't. (It used to be back in the 80's, thought.) Search for Jumper (isn't mine) if you want to see some good stuff made with it.

Google has done a good job of sloping up, IMHO. I actually like their targeted ads, because they are helpful. People also don't filter Google's text ads nearly as well as banners, because you have to read at least one to see what they are, and they are relevant so they don't stick out.

Government websites are always bad on security. Just today I viewed a VDL in the census bureau-no password required, just Google. Is this really a surprise that a politician did something dumb, then got caught because of incompetent security?

While I agree that a lot of President Bush's surveillance polices are wrong, I do not agree about the Muslims. What would you suggest we do about the world's fastest growing religion that has sworn to destroy the freedom of the West? They knocked down the 2 tallest building in the world, right in NYC. Will they suddenly decide to be content with that? Serious steps must be taken against such enemies of freedom.

While you may be right about OS X, I do believe that part of why Windows is very successful is that is very flexible. Not nearly so much a Linux, of course, but compared to OS X. You can just plug new hardware in and have it work, or you can install an SDK. Why do most developers use Windows, instead of making Windows stuff on a Mac, or on Linux?

MS is very good at software development. Look at Publisher 2003 for example. My mother can do anything she wants on it, and it has tons, and tons, and tons of features. MS is very good at software development, but too much success is hurting them.

They have such success that they are forced to cater to a huge variety of people and environments. The result is bloat. Small 3rd party products are loved because only people who need them download them. Same with OSS. So Microsoft is really stuck. (Except maybe if they made 2 wildy different Os's, a grandma/office version, and a geek version. But that would make the security problem even bigger for the lay person.)

Hackers are extremely good at what they do. Most people have no idea of how much study and practice crackers put into their profession. It is great fun to remotely break thousands of people's stuff, and get paid big $$ and play cops and robbers with the incompetent admins who didn't secure their systems in the first place. Believe me, it is. (But reading a few articles by crackers in jail will is sobering.)

It is despicable to make a botnet, but you can't say it doesn't take skill.
