I'm really not trying to bait flame, but IMHO Slashdot has been slipping more and more recently. Yup, I realise it's free, but that doesn't mean it doesn't need standards.
Anyway, this will be my last post here. If anyone is looking for an/. account with excellent karma, feel free to take over mine.
I agree the scientific comunity sould never just accept a thoery because the person presenting it is Really Smart (TM). However,in this case perhaps it would be more constructive to try and understand exactly her reasoning behind this theory.
Believing that she, and her team, have missed out a glaring point that even a physics student feels is obvious is boardering on arogance.
All of Disney's recent outings have been flops. If it wasn't for Pixar, they'd have sunk by now. Unfortunately for Disney, they only have the rights to a couple more movies from Pixar before that contract ends.
Disney must be looking for another cash cow and Japan seems like the best place to start searching.
[Electronic News] will produce what essentially amounts to an online newsletter. Not a fitting end for a publication with such an important place in the history of the semiconductors industry.
Call it irony or call it poetry, but isn't this the most fitting end imaginable?
That's nothing. My great aunt used to hang a towel over the TV whenever anyone was getting dressed in the house.
There's wisdom in age, but there's a lot of madness too.

These fads come and go. During the renaissance, curiosity and culture drove people. Before that, the Greeks were inventing hedonism. Still further back arts, crafts and skills were all important.
The "Don't worry, be happy" phase we're going through now will eventually turn around.
I think I'll play with it for a while and then pass it on again. I suppose one could think of it as a 'karma library'
Thanks. It's mine now.
Another Dupe?

Be gentle with it.
Dang, I didn't know that. What are the Feenicksian lawyers lake? Could we take them?
Next week version 0.5 will be released, with a new name
Like "Version 0.6"?
Personally I would go for "Feenicks"

I just checked my English-Irish dictionary and you're absolutely right. It makes much more sence too.
Cheers!
How do the boffins know this works? Presumably they have tested it on rabbits, but they all look the same anyway.
That would explain the dragons all right.
Irish as the black tongue? That's really cool. Thanks for the info. By the way, "Orc" is Irish for whale...
Actually, elvish is mostly based on Irish and other gaelic tongues. These take the form VSO.
E.g.
D'ith mé on madra.
"Ate I the dog".
Thanks for answering my question. It's good to know that there are hardcore hardware guys out there doing their thing.
:)
Software really isn't anything more than a configuration tool for the big electron maze in the box.
But who's it for? The type of people who build their own PCs are also the type who shun all things pre-installed.
Unless there's a strain of pure hardware geeks out there...

We should encourage all transitions to *nix.
Or "Texas"?

Like "Canada" or "France"?
Interesting and scary to see what America would be like without our inhibitions.
I take it you've never been to Europe then.
Thanks! This could finally be the killer app I need to justify getting a PDA. Where can I pick up eBooks? What's the range of titles like these days?
Not in this case. We're looking for "Bang for buck". So it's best to compare two systems of similar price.
After all, price is a big factor in choosing desktop over laptop.

There's an entirely new principle of flight called the Fanwing
It sure is a radical design, but I can't imagine it could carry much of a payload.
Too true. I'm waiting for the final straw...
"Absolut vodka martini. Shaken, not stired."
Fantastic! I love it. :)

Thanks for the chuckle.
