Re:So?
A woman can have multiple partners, become pregnant, and pick which one she wishes to raise a child with.
Not sure which country you are in but in the UK that isn't the case. In the event that you are wrongly named as the parent of a child you can request a DNA test, and if the mother refuses then you are deemed not to be the father.
In order to get a DNA test you of course have to suspect that you are not the parent first. But if you do, there is pretty much nothing the mother can do to avoid the DNA test other than to accept you have no legal obligation to pay maintenance.
I'm in the USA. I'm not certain where you get your information from, but we have a lot of men paying child support for children that are not theirs biologically.
https://www.abc15.com/news/nat...
Florida: https://www.myfloridalaw.com/c...
In 2014, a rape victim was forsce to pay child support! https://www.usatoday.com/story...
He was 14, she was 20. She raped him, became pregnant, and the law says that he must support the child that his rapist mothered.
Here's Wikipedia on the subject : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
Now if you want to know why a lot of men are pissed, we live in a country where bullshit like punishing rape victims is sancioned by the threat of jail time as long as they are males, and as I wrote, you can be forced to support a child that your wife just felt like fucking someone else for fun. It's real, and it carries the force of law. The only part the internet plays is giving us the links to the examples.

Re:This level of incompetence should be criminal
A quick Google search shows that they have one in Alabama and another in Arizona. Also, if you do a job search for data center positions at WF, results for those cities and more turn up.
Furthermore. according to this story, their entire Minnesota data center shut down after the Halon deployed, yet according to this story, the outages were intermittent. Maybe their DR switchover broke?

Re:And as usual
Rattlesnakes are no where near the threat that most Australian snakes are. To make matters worse, venomous Australian snakes don't rattle to warn you before they strike.
Supposedly due to the selective pressure of being hunted, rattlesnakes are losing their rattles or staying silent.
It's ironic that hunting them so aggressively turns out to make them even more of a risk for the unwary.

Re:Timely article for me
I'd love to get an RV. As a consultant I can spend long stretches on the road. But they are "holy fuck are you kidding" expensive in most cases. Who the hell is paying $400,000+ for these things?!
Retirees with way too much money and no desire to do their own conversion. But you can get a 40' (or smaller) bus with less than 200,000 miles for less than $10,000, and you can plausibly convert it for less than $10,000 again. The requirements are minimal (Depending on state, you need approximately a permanently-affixed toilet which is either composting or attached to a black water tank, a sink with fresh and grey water tanks, a cooker, something to sleep on, and not too many seats) and buses are built way better than RVs. School buses in particular are built with safety in mind for obvious reasons; since the 1990s or so, somewhere between most and all of them have integral roll cages built into the bodies. This is not exactly uncommon in transit buses, either.
I've been seeing credible school buses recently taken out of service (meaning recently maintained) sell for around $3000, some with decent tires on them. I've been seeing good-looking transit buses sell for around $10,000. School buses are lighter and slightly cheaper to run; transit buses are built heavier and tend to have at least front air suspension, for a better ride. The air suspension can also be adapted for use leveling the coach. Some of the school buses and many if not most of the transit buses have wheelchair lifts, which are of interest both to the disabled and to people who want help lifting heavy stuff into their bus.
I have a lot more to say about conversion, choosing the right bus etc. but I'm saving it for a blog post, and I am working on a business plan that involves bus conversions but I am not at all planning to share it until I either give up on it or actually move forward on it. The only other thing I'll say now is that if you see rust, run away. There are enough buses to where you don't have to mess with that. Arizona has signaled their plan to spend their Volkswagen settlement money on new, more efficient school buses, so there will soon be absolutely piles of surplus vehicles on the market.

Re:needs to go to criminal court
You're an idiot Rick, and you have no problem illustrating that fact. Is that what you think it was programmed to do, Rick? Are the people working on this software sitting there saying "I don't want this to be perfect, let's just work until it works right most of the time and then go home." Is that really what you think these people are doing? If you saw the Uber video, it should be obvious to any thinking human that large parts of that system failed. I know there were a lot of medium-sized words in that sentence, so I'll try to break it down for you Rick: that means that it specifically did not work like it was designed to work.
Did you see the new story, Rick? It happened again. So, surely, after reading that article you're going to call for a ban on cars, or bus stops, or 38 year old women, or roads, or something, right? LIVES ARE AT STAKE RICK, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BAN TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

Victim Cycling?
Video of the accident scene shows a damaged bicycle on the adjacent sidewalk. Was the victim attempting to cross Mill Avenue on foot outside the crosswalk as suggested or is it possible she was cycling northbound in the cycle lane along Mill Avenue? At the site of the accident, the cycle lane crosses the vehicle right turn lane to continue across the Curry Road intersection. There is a street sign just a hundred feet prior to the beginning of the right turn lane warning drivers to yield to bikes. The victim may have had the right of way. I reserve judgment. Presumably the Uber car was video recording its trip. That video hopefully provides some clarity about what transpired. https://www.abc15.com/news/reg... https://www.google.com/maps/@3...

Re:Uber killed a BICYCLIST, not a pedestrian
The original reporting on ABC15 Self-driving Uber car hits, kills pedestrian in Tempe actually includes a video that has the caption "Self-driving vehicle hits BICYCLIST". The video also shows a crumpled-up bicycle.
Unfortunately, ABC15's text article says "a woman walking outside of the crosswalk was struck" and that is what the rest of the media is regurgitating as their own reporting.
The video also shows a number of bags with the bicycle so she may have been walking with it. Also, some of the bags are black trash bags, which may have contributed to the failure of the sensors (and human) to observe in time.

Re:divide & conquer
One can only hope that the average person is not as willfully ignorant as you are.
Paternity tests don't protect men from paying child support for children that aren't theirs, you ignorant fool. Your unfounded and frankly stupid assertions notwithstanding, the facts are the facts.
It is hard to discuss anything with you due to your inability to deal with what I wrote with out changing what I wrote to mean something it doesn't. You have some talking points you have to shout to get paid for your post, I understand. I would recommend doing it more subtly.
So, lets review, you say that men are lying, that courts do paternity tests, and that will get them off the hook for paying child support for children that aren't theirs. Here are some instantly googled headlines for you to read. I am spoon feeding you. Read up. Go look for more. It's not hard.
https://www.abc15.com/news/nat...
http://www.chron.com/news/hous...
http://www.nydailynews.com/new...
There are thousands of headlines like this. You want to tell me all of these men are lying, along with the newspapers who report it, the lawyers, and the judges who say its a travesty? You tell me that the courts are using paternity tests to make sure men aren't paying child support for kids that aren't theirs, and the truth is easily seen to be anything but that. Your ignorance is stunning, in that it is willfully protected. Are you so dedicated to your principles that you don't care if they are predicated on falsehoods and deceit?
Most importantly, you are men that they should be out there spending their spare time canvassing and garnering support for better parental leave? Your argument is that since some men have kids they should all want better leave. You also argue that men's rights groups should fall in line with feminist organizations to make sure that fathers get better leave time. My assertion is that feminist organizations, and many other organizations as well, have that part handled, and criticizing men's rights groups for not spending their time on that is arrogant and wrong.
Why? Because what is falling through the cracks, not being addressed, and not even acknowledged (as you so beautifully illustrate by being incredibly ignorant AND unimaginably offensive in your ignorance) are the men who are paying child support for children that aren't theirs. It's a fact that it happens, and with frequency. Yet, you deny it happens and that men's rights organizations should be doing something else with their very limited time, energy, support, and money.
Don't you see the problem with that?

Re: Do It, it worked in AZ
As a matter of fact they have, Phoenix has gained two Super Bowls and a constant stream of conferences
Arizona got the Super Bowl XXX after Super Bowl XXVII was pulled due to regressive laws
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S...And then it got another Super Bowl after a similar set of laws to those being considered by Indiana went by the wayside
http://www.abc15.com/sports/sp...In addition that Phoenix Conference Center has increased its floor space many-fold and has a constant stream of conferences in the winter months when Phoenix presents a pleasant climate, Just this year both a global Scrum and PMI conference will be featured here

Bull, don't you pay attention to current events???
The huge wave of illegal immigration by kids has lead for several military bases in CA, AZ, and TX being used to house thousands of kids MANY of whom are SICK and the border patrol is scrambling to get them immunized.
Mexican numbers for things like immunization rates have always been as bogus as the stats from any other hyper-corrupt 3rd world hell-hole, buit in this case thery're fundamentally downright deceptive; All these kids are coming in over the US border from Mexico but, as always, details matter: while many are "from Mexico" (as-in "born there") there are HUGE numbers who are "from Mexico" (as-in passing-through the place on their way into the US) who are NOT immunized in Mexico at all. So while many mexican kids are not immunized because they are part of the oddball portion of their population that is not immunized (like too-many American-born who are not immunized even though most of their countrymen are) the majority of the current wave are from places like Guatemala and are not being immunized as they are magically transported the length of Mexico. Note: I said "magically" because this is obviously an orchestrated scam.... tens of thousands of 3 year olds, 7 year olds, etc are not WALKING the length of Mexico (getting food water shelter etc along the way) completely on their own without their parents and without any government "help".

It's not going to scale up to wildfire size
Oil well fires are stationary points of flame a few tens of meters wide - lots of pressure behind them, but not much territory, and a single point of combustion where the fuel is coming out of the pipe. You can surround them.
Wildfires have flame fronts that are hundreds to thousands of meters wide, irregularly shaped, with a wall of flames and fuel sources that may be 5 to 30 meters high (or higher), and can be moving 60kph or more.
Look at this picture: http://media2.abc15.com//photo...
Tell me where you will put the bomb to blow that fire out.

Re:What's the problem?
Well, when they have passes laws preventing any alternatives. What choice do you have?
And you're doing your math wrong. You are saying 98% of voters support it. But you're forgetting that the percentage of voters is rather low, around 50% of eligible voters. And lower than 2004 and 2008. So in that regards, at least half the population has voted NO to the Democrats and Republicans.

CNN says the old guy had the gun on him
You're missing the part where the "threatened" 71 year old left the theater, went to his car, retrieved the gun and then came back and shot the 43 year old. At what point was a beatdown by the 43 year old going on there?
Maybe you are not from the U.S., and you believe "left the theater" means "left the building" rather than "left the room in which the movie was being projected to talk to the management in the massive lobby". In the U.S., a movie complex is a huge thing, and "theater" describes the room with the screen in it, not the building containing the room with the screen in it. He didn't leave the building to get his gun, he had a concealed carry permit, and the gun was on him the entire time.
You really need to read more than one biases source for the story:
http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/national/curtis-reeves-set-to-make-first-court-appearance-after-florida-theater-shooting"As a male moviegoer texted, the man seated behind him objected, and asked the texter to put his phone away.
They argued several times, according to police and witnesses, and the man who was texting watched as the other man walked out of the theater. Curtis Reeves, a retired police officer, apparently went seeking a theater employee to complain about the texting, police said." ...
The man who had been texting, Chad Oulson, got up and turned to Reeves to ask him if he had gone to tell on him for his texting. Oulson reportedly said, in effect: I was just sending a message to my young daughter.
Voices were raised. Popcorn was thrown."Assault, with implied threat of battery.
"And then came something unimaginable -- except maybe in a movie. A gunshot.
Not that unimaginable. This is just sensationalist editorializing on the part of ABC.
The shot went through the wife's hand, which is how she sustained her injury. That places her hand on Oulson's chest, which is typical if one is restraining someone, and atypical behavior for the wife, unless Oulson had exhibited similar behavior in the past.
If Reeves were a crazed nut job, he would have not sat and removed his hands from the weapon and waited for the police.

Re:Proxy approval
38%? Are you sure?
"... Thursday's report, from the Center for the Study of the American Electorate, put 2012 voter turnout at 57.5% of all eligible voters." - http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/national/election-results-2012-voter-turnout-lower-than-2008-and-2004-report-says
And the Bipartisan Research Center, clearly a liberal media tool, also reports 57.5%. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_turnout_in_the_United_States_presidential_elections
I could go on. Oh, and finally, if only 20% voted for Obama, then by your stats only 18% voted for Romney. You weren't trying to imply 80% was against Obama, were you?

Maricopa County, AZ
"Two-thirds of all Valley Fever infections happen right here in Arizona and out of those, 80 percent occur in Maricopa County." Read more: http://www.abc15.com/dpp/weather/weather_news/changing-weather-bringing-more-cases-of-valley-fever-to-arizona#ixzz2ZL5bmBDL Maricopa County, AZ, Population of 3.88 million, had 16,472 cases in 2011, 0.0042%. This is an increase of 2,700 cases from the year before. The 1,000 ft high dust storms during the monsoon season are a major contributor. Most of the cases showed up in February, after getting a few months to grow in the host and diagnosed by doctors. Most people in the SW carry the fungus, but only some are prone to it's ill effects. I have lived here for 32 years and never had symptoms severe enough to visit a doctor. I have known people to be hospitalized within their first year living here. Yea, it sucks. We take that chance when we live here. Get over it!

Re:Now we'll get privacy
No one can kill as many people as quickly with a knife as one can with a semi-automatic gun. This is a fact. If you lined up 30 humans and had someone slit their throats as quickly as possible, it still wouldn't be as fast as a gun.
You are absolutely right about that, unfortunately your missing the point that its still some crazy person trying to kill 30 people not the gun. While its easier to sit and fire 30 rounds into the crowd I could just as easily run around slashing people with a knife thankfully there are good people with the ability to contain the bad people because they have the same if not better force/weapon/abilities.
Bad guys will always always always find a way to get what they need (guns, drugs, whatever) regardless if its following the law or not (thats why they are called bad guys). I for one want to make sure the good guys continue to have the same if not better weapons/abilities.
Imagine what would happen if we banned guns? well just look what happened when we made certain drugs illegal. Did those drugs just disappear and nobody was able to get any of them? no. But it made it so the good guys could throw the book at them when people where caught with them. We already have laws that are in place for people that have real assault weapons etc. What more do you want?

Re:Great
which estimates it will see an additional $317 million annually as a result
And will be instantly pissed away on corruption and bullshit and the bond payments for the initial funding for that idiotic "high speed" train which is really just a welfare project for high paid political cronies to sit around on boards and committees.
- yes, but it won't be 317Million annually any more than what the FaceBook supposed taxes were going to bring to CA.
It's simple - the taxes, they won't collect them because people won't buy as much from CA with these taxes, they'll find a way to get around them one way or another. Arizona is nearby and I see a business opportunity in Arizona to CA delivery for a fraction of the tax fee.

We are losing more than the War on drugs
It hasn't really been ANYWHERE on the national news, but we are losing more than just the war on drugs here. The cartels control parts of the state of Arizona. Not just as in they create a danger of violence there, as in they're building roads there. Americans are warned not to go there. The local law enforcement doesn't go there because they're out manned and out gunned.
In other words, they are well on their way to actually occupying (in the sense of an invading army) a chunk of the U.S.
They've had infantry for some time now, It seems that they are now working on a navy and a mechanized unit.
I just can't tell you what a relief it is to hear how we're winning the drug war!

Big problem in the Phoenix area
Among the issues here in the valley(registration may be required):
Mesa has spent $100,000 this year replacing wiring in parks and rec areas.
These idiots were caught stealing from a home, among other things, wiring. Vacant homes get stripped regularly, taking even the internal wiring.
And there was a story this spring of a daycare center that shut down for a daty because their windoww-mount air conditioner was stolen. These get sold as salvage for the copper coils.
Despite having to sign for stuff, the thieves are doing well. And it's not a problem of illegal immigrants stealing copper to feed their familes - plenty of regular everyday residents are in on this. This moron got caught stealing the wire out of freeway lights. Nice.
I'm not hopeful that we'll see any letup in this here. More homes going empty. Not enough jobs returning. Scrap dealers can't do much more.
Land of opportunity, baby!

Arizona State University is also working on this
The Polytechnic campus of ASU in Mesa, AZ has created jet fuel out of algae. That school has been focusing on many other solar technologies as well, since Arizona annually has an abundance of sunny days.

Doesn't surprise me
When I heard that she was going to be teaching a class at the University of Arizona (albeit, during the Supreme Court's winter recess in 2005-2006), I had a feeling that she might retire soon.
She's a republican, she's 75, her husband has Alzheimer's and she wants to spend time eith him. She probably thinks there's no better time to retire and let Bush put another Republican in her place.
