Re:2002 called, it wants its fears back
Incidentally, it was also thought of a few years later: Epic 2014 (and its updated 2015 version) mentioned this development in an ambivalent sort of way, though I don't think the author realised just how harmful this process is. Also incidentally, it looks like we're still on track for it. (I'm sure you've heard of this already; just trolling for that good old Insightful karma.)

Nothing to see here
I still get the right search results for "French Military Victories"

Shoving is the answer

I Wonder
I wonder if they will add Google's list of French military victories to that blacklist...

Re:Sauce for the goose
Where do you live, that cats are ferromagnetic?
Now, steel rabbits and lobsters, I could see.
(Yeah, warning, link is a Flash animation, yadda, yadda. If you're a Flash hatah, google "Lobster Magnet" on youtube HTML5 or whatever you use.)

Re:Neat Technology
Have you heard CATS? That shit sounds like it was done on the Casio the kids have in their bedroom.
Actually the voice of CATS was done on SoftVoice TTS, as were the rest of the voices in All Your Base. The background music was done on an emulation of the same sound chip used in a 1980s Yamaha FM synthesizer.

Re:RIP for the Dr Demento Show
When I grew up in the 80's and 90's the only way to listen to Dr Demento was on tape and later CD. By that time, no stations in my area were carrying him. It was all radio stations playing the major label's push-of-the-week.
The landscape changed. It used to be that the only place to find weird, unexpected, fun acts was Dr Demento. Now some kid in Texas can make a flash video and suddenly the world shows up at their inbox. Youtube, Digg, and even Facebook feeds all aggregate the offbeat for us.
I'm sad to see that Dr Demento hasn't quite found a footing on the internet (Pay only podcast? Good luck with that.), but a legendary 40 year run is nothing to sniffle at.

Don't discount vector animation
With the exception of the old-style vector-animated
.swf stuffAnd it is this "old-style vector-animated
.swf stuff" that will keep Flash Player installed on people's PCs. Ever heard of All Your Base, or Hatt-baby, or Hyakugojyuuichi, or Badgers, or Weebl and Bob, or Homestar Runner? All vector-animated. Newgrounds? Entirely vector-animated until Numa Numa Dance proved the concept of FLV, and the vast majority is still vector-animated thanks to YouTube siphoning off the authors who would have used H.26x or VPx. For example, Hatt-baby is 1 MB, and it'd probably be ten times bigger if rendered and encoded in H.264. -
Dubious Utility
These guys have had The Urinal Game online for over a decade. And there are still a LOT of guys out there with no concept of Mens Room Etiquette.
-
Port badgers and ritalin
Agreed. Someone who wants to replace all the Flash on Newgrounds with HTML5 should first try porting Badgers and We Drink Ritalin to HTML5. Do that and I'll admit that HTML5 is ready to replace Flash.

Re:Whoosh!
BTW, I'm not a flash fan but I have to deal with it and it does do what is says it does on the tin.
It flashes?

No more dangerous than an un-hacked one
It doesn't matter if a robot is "pwned" by Dr. Evil or if it bought, paid for, and run by Dr. Evil - it's equally dangerous either way.
Everyone sing along now, robots are our friends.

Re:Can't blame them
Especially if the country invading has "like 2600 more than everybody else" of them.
I think the rule here is: If someone got nukes, and is complaining about someone else wanting or having them too, he's a douche.
But because he is a douche, he will not stop doing so.It's just sad when your own country is the one acting like that. Great role model for other countries!
And in the end, you're the one who is hated for his government. You're also the first one who will die for it.
Which interestingly is the exact thing that is also happening to the so-called "enemy". -

Are they drunk??
That site: http://iase.disa.mil/eta/iaav7-3/iaa/index.html (the first link in TFS)
Have you "launched" a new "course"? The eevil hacker destroyed everthing. Cash, oil, food, it's the global meltdown! Aaah!
LOL. It really reminds me of this game we used to play as children, where the challenge was, to end the story in the destruction of the world, trough a chain of cause and effect, in as few steps as possible. And from a totally harmless starting point.
First a tiny drop of rain fell onto the street.
But a insect got stuck in it.
Causing a bird to land and pick it up.
So the car of the president drove into it, causing a crash and his death.
Just while on the phone with the Chinese government.
So the CIA assassinates the Chinese premier, because they think he is the responsible one.
Which causes China to launch all its nukes, which causes the USA to launch all its nukes, which causes special experimental biochemical weapons to be released,
which causes all remaining humans to turn into alienlike raptor-zombies.
So a tenthousand years later, some real aliens land, get their ship taken over by the raptor-zombie-humans, which then fly out to enslave and nuke the entire universe!Yes, it always ends with nukes, and most of the time with monsters too.
Or the short video version: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/end

Re:Alienware just has horrible CS overall
Sorry, but that is your prejudice. ^^
I do not equal and generalize a shitty feature with the whole country (and its people) being shitty. I inform myself.
But you seem to massively generalize and well... I dunno what to say, but... you do not make your people look very good. ^^
No matter what you think, and even while you act just as "We don't need anybody!"-style overly proud... just like the French (Yeah, I said it! ^^)
...we are still on your side. And with "you", I mean the people.Oh, and actually, you are very weak and fragile. If someone stops lending you money, you're done. Finito. The eeend. ^^
So I recommend accepting this friendship. ;) -
Re:NO
Erm.. you're talking about the difference between just rendering a local video and streaming a video through a player developed in flash, huge huge difference.

Re:is this so hard?
Yes. In-fact, the only war they won was the French Revolution, primarily because they fought themselves. =P
