I think Commandos have a very good take at that, because although it is definitely a puzzle, and the designer must have thought in a solution for every stage, you don't have to his solution. You just need to find a way to kill Person A without sounding any alarms. Actually, Lemmings already did that, some decades ago.

I love that ending exactly because the heroes think that he is just monologuing, when that is not exactly what happens. I was pretty much vague to avoid spoilers. Watchmen is definitely one of the best comics there is, so it is a big challenge to bring it to the screen. Even more if you consider the parallel stories and subplots.

you shouldn't have a problem with us calling ourselves whatever we want when we talk amongst ourselves. I do have a problem, when this is supposed to be to "correct form" to call the citizens of the US.
  14. Re:Geography 101 on China Bans Horror Movies · · Score: 1

Uhh, there's a small flaw in your logic: this "America=USA" thing only works inside the USA. For the rest of the world, America is the continent, divided into North, Central and South America. What happens is that there is not a term for "native citizens of the USA", as there is for Mexican, or Brazilian or anything like that, basically because USA is not a name, is a designation. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against the US. So, the residents borrow the term from the continent, using "Americans". But I have to say I don't like it very much, because I live in Brazil, and I am an American too, since I live in South America. The spanish have a good term for this, it's "estadounidense", something like "unitedstatian".

  16. Usability on Microsoft Launches IT Superhero Comic · · Score: 1

Forget about why MS did this. Is it a good idea to use a rich client like silverlight/flash/whatever to present a Web Comic? Sure it looks great, but it takes longer to load, which can definitely be a factor if you're going to visit the site daily, I mean, I woudn't like to wait 3-5 seconds to then enter the navigation and see the comic, this when the plugin doesn't crash firefox. Second, I don't know if the full screen is a good idea. I mean, if you're doing a full blown comic, it's ok, but you won't be able to do that on a daily basis for too long, and if it was supposed to be a strip, then I would want it to be in its tab, or together with other strips in a rss feed, or something like that. Which brings us to another problem: how are you going to let other people hotlink your strip if it's an application? Of course there are ways to do this, but is it worth the trouble? Think about it, there are tons of web comics out there, and some with cash to spend in flash or other amenities, and yet, none of them does this. They just render the image, in plain old HTML, with the navigation nearby.

That's completely true. I had to work with an Australian for a couple weeks, and the pronunciation was really different at times. This reminds me of a very lame and politically incorrect joke:

An australian goes to london, and is crossing the street nonchalantly, when a car screeched to a full stop. The driver, completely mad about the uncaring behaviour of the turist, gets out of the car and yells at him:
-Did you come here to die?!?
    -No, I came here yestahdie.

But the most different accent I've ever met, maybe because I learned english from a british school, and therefore am more used to it, was in Scotland. Seriously, I went to Glasgow and Edimburg. *everytime* I spoke with a waiter I had to ask him to repeat around 3 times before I could make any sense out of it.
