We Had This Before...
What is most important of all is that the CPCC successfully did this before in 2003 and then the courts ruled against it a year later.

Re:Vaporware
I get worried when we all miss the longterm ramifications of the geopolitical sphere. The US has insignificant Li compared to Russian and China (the latter already stating they will control the Li battery market) and we trade in an oil master for a Li master. Have a look at this (The Trouble with Lithium) and tell me that there is not something flawed about our insistence to achieve energy independence through Li ion batteries.

Unfortunately, as much as I once thought Snopes was a "disinterested third party, seeking the truth", they are not. They are firmly in the back pocket of Obama. While they clearly have dismissed the allegations that Obama is not a natural born US citizen, the Phillip J. Berg vs. Obama case is on its way to the Supreme court with Sworn affidavits from a priest and a Bishop along with a live recording of Obamas paternal grandmother confirming multiple times she was in the delivery room in Kenya when Barack was born.

Robot Nixon approves of this tactic
I believe we should go one step further and allow these machines to vote directly, rather than indirectly through a meat proxy. Robot suffrage is absolutely vital to the future of any campaign involving a giant, bloodthirsty Robot Nixon.

EEstor or advanced flywheels seem better.
Hydrogen is nothing but an energy storage medium. There will be an energy loss converting to hydrogen, an energy loss converting from hydrogen. A whole infrastructure to build for conversion/delivery. Storage issues in cars....
Wouldn't a better battery be a much better solution. We already have the distribution network(electric grid). EEStor ultra capacitors seem to be that better battery if they deliver on promises, but there are also advanced flywheels (composite wheels in a vacuum, superconducting magnetic bearings, turning neark 100k rpm). These can be charged or discharge quickly and should last the life of the vehicle.
http://tyler.blogware.com/blog/_archives/2006/1/19 /1715549.html (ultracaps)
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/8.05/flywheel.h tml (advanced flywheels)
Fuel cells don't solve any energy creation issues and as a deliver mechanism, it doesn't seem so hot, I would much prefer to stick with mechanisms we aleady have like the electric grid. -
Re:WoW this hits close to home, eh?
I thought it was more or less a joke when his wife started hitting on me directly infront of him saying he wouldn't notice anything outside his game. Then one day, she actualy started playing wiht me in a way that I knew she wasn't kidding and she definatly wanted some attention in certain areas.
Similar story, but Everquest back in the day. Dude started ignoring everyone and eventually started asking me, as a friend, to take the Mrs. out on Friday nights so he could raid. Then it was Saturdays too, and Wednesdays.. I never saw him any more, just his wife. She eventually left him. She and I dated for about a year after they split, good (if crazy) times.
Too bad, dude was a cool guy before.
Now I play WoW, but only raid on Monday and Thursday.. I try to keep most of the week for real life. :)

Re:I'd love to see this.
That was my initial reaction to "tiered internet" proposals as well.
( my original comment on the issue)
Ultimately, it's stooping to the telco's level and escalating the battle from the legal arena to the technological. Might happen . . . but in the end the public loses. Hopefully, Congressional bills supporting Network Neutrality will prevail.
What I'd like to know is, who's up for re-election in November that can have an significant impact on the issue?! Anyone?

I had the same type of experience w TargetPC Inc
TargetPC Inc did me, so I posted the story on the blog that my wife and I maintain. Now when you google "TargetPC Inc" you see my bitch about their lameness third, I made sure resellerratings knew about them, and I tried to warn pricewatch users, but they fill their own feedback on pricewatch up hoping to snag the unknowing. Revenge is high google placement about how bad you suck

Re:Nobody cares about you
Blogs don't have to be publicly viewable. I'm sure many people write completely private entries. If you wander round LiveJournal an awful lot of people post to a select group of friends, ie their blogs are "by invitation only".
You have to go to the effort of loading up a blog in order to reading - hardly comparable to spraying stuff on a wall.
Being a celebrity is hardly a reason to have an interesting blog; being able to write is. The successful blogs belong to people who are interesting writers. Whether they write about their experiences in computer security, the London Ambulance Service or evolutionary biology, it always comes down to content. It takes a lot of skill to write about nothing and make it interesting, so why are you complaining that 14-year-olds don't write interesting blogs? They're probably sub-literate to start with!
Complaining that anything is bad when all you've seen are the very worst examples is misguided and childish. Or flamebait.

NYC: here they come
I LOVE that they're keeping things symmetrical, giving free wifi on both sides of the states. They're supposedly offering google sponsored wifi HERE... more details HERE. of course we have plenty free wifi in the big apple, I have three available connections in my apartment which are FASTER than my dsl line. But once I get my powerbook I'm sure ill learn to appreciate these public spaces

what visionariesThe state Senate will vote today (April 5th) on Colorado Senate Bill 152, which would allow cities to provide wireless internet access.
So what, we should be down on our knees thanking them for allowing it? It's already allowed, unless there was prior legislation prohibiting it, in which case I'm not exactly going to pretend to be grateful. Last week at the Freedom to Connect meeting, Susan Crawford began her posted comments with the following:
A right to connect, or freedom to connect, signals that we need permission -- rights only operate against someone who has the ability to say no. Freedom of speech, all of that -- all operates against the government. A digital bill of rights assumes that someone has the power to cut those rights off.
We're here to affirm that we don't need permission. We are more threatened by ourselves and our willingness to look to government for permission than by anything else.

Re:What if...
Mmmm... I thought the purpose of the INDUCE (IICA) act was to add vicarious liability to copyright law, implying that it doesn't have such a thing now. Sony v. Universal (Betamax case) theorized contributory infringement, but the test is much narrower and Sony and Diamond (v. RIAA) won.
One of the arguments against INDUCE was that it wasn't narrowly constructed like the vicarious liability provisions in patent law.
Hmmm... where was that?
Ah! patent law requires specific intent to induce infringement of a specific patent -
James Bond
As noted byt the Accordian Guy, There are similar tricks with liquor. In the Ian Flemming novels, such as Moonraker James Bond had the habit of shaking pepper into his vodka shots. He'd picked it up from the Russians, who did it as a matter of safety rather than taste; the pepper dragged fusel oils left over from their crude distilling process down to the bottom of the glass.
For wine, apparently just decanting the whole bottle into another container improves the taste. -
Re:Wrong!
Using those 'Magical Words' are why I, as an EMT have to scream around London putting myself and other drivers/pedestrians at risk to find out that the 'lost conciousness' patient has had a cough for two days, and the 'serious bleeding' has lost a teaspoon amount of blood.
A good triage nurse/EMT will do the job better than someone throwing around 'hotwords'.
Blah, one of my bugbears is that they don't teach kids in school the difference between 'ill', 'really ill', and 'about to die'.

Re:Legal?
"If I'm being taxed, I'm certainly not hurting."
The fact that you're not 'feeling' it doesn't negate the fact that it is indeed happening. Every time you buy a CD-r, even if it's for your family photos, you're paying out money to the Canadian version of the RIAA. The law to which I alluded previously has indeed passed. As of Dec 12 of last year, the new law allows them to collect money for each MP3 player sold, in addition to every blank cassette, audio CD-r, data CD-r, etc. Apparently, MP3 players could end up costing anywhere from $19 to $100 more under the new rules.
Congratulations.
Read more here.
Before you go on jabbering about the so-called "ass-backwards" laws of the US, perhaps you should take a good look behind you. Your own government has been bending you over the counter for a while now, allowing the RIAA et all to tap your wallet without you even realizing it. We may have some silly copyright laws, but at least I don't have to pay the RIAA every time I want to give some pictures to grandma.
