spiderman 3
Did anyone forget the shitstain that was Spiderman 3?
We had emo Peter Parker, and a song and dance number in the middle of it!
Here's hoping Raimi goes back to his evil dead roots and makes a proper movie . . .
oh yeah and Bruce Campbell had better be in it!

And who should play Doctor Strange ??. . . well, on Graffe's Wizard Compilation, we've sort of hit on a candidate:
Bruce Campbell as Doctor Strange
By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth, indeed !!!

Shut up about Tom Cruise and...
I recently got to see Bruce touring with Man with the Screaming Brain and his new book, Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way. Not only did I get my book signed but also a great half-hour Q&A session with the audience before the film. It was worth it and I recomend any Bruce Campbell fan check it out.
And the book is a great read for those of you into the Mike Nelson style of writing. -
Re:DRM & Vendor Lock in?We as consumers need to really put our food down on this DRM crap...
I agree. Especially since we're all getting so fat!

Re:What pays the bills?
A good example is Bruce Campbell. You see him in a small film like Bubba Ho-Tep or a quickie walk-on like in Spider Man, and then he disappears from the face of the earth. And I always wonder, what pays the grocery bill meanwhile?
I'd suggest reading his book. It's all about the daily life of Hollywood's blue-collar actors.

Re:How about...
the dirt by motley crue- it's great!
I'm almost done with 'if chins could kill' by bruce campbell and it's pretty damn good too.
I know a book by/about motley crue sounds strange, but just trust me on this one- here's what wammo had to say:
Whew, I feel better. And now for something completely different. A few days ago, I was in Powell's bookstore in Portland and I happened across a copy of The Dirt by Motley Crue. I don't own any Motley Crue albums. I saw a few of their videos and didn't pay much attention. I met Nikki Sixx at the Black Cat through a mutual friend and gave him shit about his warpaint. Let's just say, I'm not the biggest Motley Crue fan. Now i can say this. THIS IS THE BEST FUCKING BOOK ABOUT ROCK AND ROLL I HAVE EVER READ. Anyone into Spinal Tap, Hard Core Logo, L.A. glitz or tales of degradation, travel and excess must read this sucker. I haven't been able to put it down. I started two days ago and I'm almost through. Hell, I'll probably reread it before I get home on Sunday. There, I said it. Shit, I might even go out and buy Dr. Feelgood, used of course.. -
Re:If HP Lovecraft has taught us ANYTHING
Silly mortal we have bruce cambell. No worry.

Re:ExcellentNegative. Evil Dead is a trilogy. It's fine that way. Leave it. Bruce Campbell has said often that he wouldn't care to do another one
Uh... really? The fact is, there was always an Evil Dead 4 planned, especially considering the original ending (where Ash wakes up in post-apocalyptic England). Furthermore, according to Bruce Campbell's official site:
"Let me be clear, however, on one point: I'd be happy to do it - so would Sam, but let's not beat that dead horse any more until it becomes a reality...IF it ever does."
So, both Raimi and Campbell would like to do one, and I know I'd love to see one. And, given the series' tendency to "alter" endings, I think we could get the ED4 Raimi had planned. It would rock.

great interview here if you're interested...

Botched interview
Many interview I've read have the thoughts and observations of the writer interpreting the interview subject. But in those interviews, when the actor wants to convey a key point, a direct quote is used. Not here. I can't tell what Bruce said from what Chrisd wrote. I don't know if anything here is verbatim. That sucks, because I was looking forward to this interview. Hell, Bruce's agent could've answered this stuff.
And it would have been nice if you didn't ask a bunch of stuff that's already on Bruce's website. Hell, anyone who went to bruce-campbell.com already knew why there's not going to be an Evil Dead 4. I felt like I've read all of this stuff before. Next time, maybe the interviewER could do some homework. -
Lest Aspersions Be CastThe reason for the odd answer format has already been discussed, but lest anyone think less of Bruce I must post the following.
Bruce is one of the most genuine "showbiz" people I've ever met or even heard about. I met him at a book signing in Phoenix a few months ago. He was articulate, genuine, and funny. He stayed to sign autographs for oer 5 hours! The bookstore was past it's closing time but he had the employees stay until every single fan had their book (or Ash action figure, or DVD, etc) signed. Why he doesn't have an arm like Popeye from all those autographs, I have no idea.
Check his site to see if his is going to be in your area, and make the time to see him. The book is also a very good read, and you will learn far more about Bruce than you will from this interview.

Fan-fiction is illegal?
from this page:
"
Q: THERE'S AN "EVIL DEAD 4" SCRIPT POSTED ON THE WEB. IS THIS OFFICIAL?
A: Absolutely not. It's "fan-fiction," which I cannot condone. It really isn't anyone's place other than ours to even think about making an Evil Dead. Besides, IT'S ILLEGAL! People should channel their creative energies into original stuff.
"
You're kidding, right? I can never tell when Bruce is being sarcastic or not. -
For those comments that don't make it...
Bruce's email address is listed on his web site. Your guess is as good as mine, however, as to whether or not you'll get a form letter or a real reply. (He seems like a pretty approachable guy from what I hear, but he's got a fair degree of fame to take into account as well)

That question is answered on his site. www.bruce-campbell.com/evil/evil-dead-4.html

Re:Expect more cloudy days...
And an appropriate viewing selection might be Army of Darkness.
"Trapped in Time, Surrounded by Evil, Low on Gas"
Ash winds up in ancient England to battle the "medieval dead" once and for all, and screws up royally along the way... -
Re:Ash as Mulder?
How can it NOT be Mr. Campbell!? He is by far the best actor of our era. Evil Dead 1 & 2, Army of Darkness, Brisco County Jr. and so on. A god among men I tell you, a god among men!
-
Re:Bruce
Just wanted to say that Bruce Campbell is the man!! He has his own web site here.
Ever since I saw Army of Darkness, I have been following Bruce Campbell. He is currently starring in a series called Jack of All Trades (joat) which you can read about here!! Also, i thought I saw someone post this already but you can still catch Brisco County Jr. on TNT Saturdays at 10:00AM (est).
Also, the new Army of Darkness single Director's Cut DVD comes out next week! cool.
I think Bruce would make an awesome addition to X-Files.... actually he has already starred in one episode as a sympathetic demon...:) -
Re:Bruce Campbell
I too loved his acting in the Evil Dead movies but all his other performances have been lackluster: in Brisco County Jr., Xena/Hercules, and Jack of All Trades he produces mediocre results. I don't know why.
His website used to be cool. After reading about some of his excapades (the bicycle trip in Arizona, e.g.) I respected him all the more. He seemes to be a down-to-earth, level-headed, hard-working guy. Now the website is produced by Frontpage 2.0 so it looks like hell in anything other than IE/Windows and many of the information seems to be missing.
-
Bruce Campbell must be the Tick.Yes, Ash from the Evil Dead series is the only Actor I'd trust to play the Tick. He has the poise, the humor, the straight lines, and most importantly, the Chin.
Ok. Let's compare these mugs: Patrick Warburton vs. Bruce Campbell. (sorry, Bruce-Campbell.com was down as I wrote this.)
I call for a re-cast! All in Favor? SPOON! All opposed? not in the face! not in the face!. The Spoons have it!

Bruce says he doesn't have the part.I hate to point this out, but go to Bruce's web site and see for yourself. To quote the relevant portion:
Q: IS IT TRUE YOU'RE CAST AS THE LEAD IN THE "DOOM" AND "SPIDERMAN" AND "QUAKE" AND "SUPERMAN" AND "BATMAN" MOVIES?
A: NO, BY GOLLY, I AM NOT "CAST AS THE LEAD" OR INVOLVED WITH EITHER THE "DOOM" OR "SPIDERMAN" OR "QUAKE" OR "SUPERMAN" OR "BATMAN" FLICKS. APPARENTLY, THE PRODUCERS CALLED ME, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE CALL WAITING...
It's a bummer, since he would make a great Peter Parker.
-
Bruce Campbell Dispells the Rumor
Apparently, Bruce himself has heard the rumor about him being in the lead, and denies it:
Q: IS IT TRUE YOU'RE CAST AS THE LEAD IN THE DOOM" AND "SPIDERMAN" AND "QUAKE" AND "SUPERMAN" AND "BATMAN" MOVIES?
A: NO, BY GOLLY, I AM NOT "CAST AS THE LEAD" OR INVOLVED WITH EITHER THE "DOOM" OR "SPIDERMAN" OR "QUAKE" OR "SUPERMAN" OR "BATMAN" FLICKS. APPARENTLY, THE PRODUCERS CALLED ME, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE CALL WAITING...

Re:Geeks and Bruce Campbell
With a subject line like this, I'm surprised no one has linked to Bruce Campbell's website - it's quite entertaining, lots of content written by Bruce himself, not a hollow celeb.com site. I particularly like his Babblings from the Brink essays.

Raimi did more than just Evil Dead...
Sam Raimi also is one of the producers of "Hercules: the Legendary Journeys" (the Kevin Sorbo show) as well as the vastly more popular spinoff "Xena: Warrior Princess" (both of which, as any good Bruce Campbell fans know, regularly features Campbell as "Autolycus, the King of Thieves").
He's also exec-producing Campbell's new show Jack of All Trades. In Campbell's own words: "The show centers on my character, Jack Stiles, an American spy, adventurer, and rogue dispatched to an island in the East Indies by President Jefferson to thwart Napoleon's advances in the region. Jack isn't at all happy about the remote assignment, especially since he's supposed to serve as personal attaché to a wealthy British widow and secret agent for the Crown named Emilia Rothschild (Angela Dotchin). Disguised as the Daring Dragoon, Jack teams with Emilia on numerous covert missions to stop Napoleon's imperialism in the East Indies." Yeah, sounds cheesy, but that's never stopped me from watching Army of Darkness over and over again...
I think Raimi might be able to do a good Spider-Man film (though I have to wonder about the potential chesse factor) but Campbell should NOT, NOT, NOT be allowed to play Peter Parker! That would be a casting error on par with Nicholas Cage as Superman.
Let him play Flash Thompson (jock who harassed Peter in high school) as an adult, or maybe let him play Eddie Brock before he becomes Venom (or even as Venom -- Campbell can act pretty crazed when he wants to).
