Re: And suddenly...
Was it 'Trumps pay no tax, fuck everyone else'?
This reminds me of the the Dave Barry tax plan:
A lot of my opponents have been going around spouting harebrained "pie-in-the-sky" tax schemes that promise "something for nothing." Well I say it's time for a "reality check." I favor a practical, fiscally sound, two-pronged "flat-tax" system, as follows:
PRONG ONE -- Everybody would pay less.
PRONG TWO -- You, personally, would pay nothing.

Pure Oxygen is DANGEROUS
Oxygen Saturated - nearly anything becomes highly combustible. Some things like asphalt and charcoal become impact sensitive explosives.

I wounder how the particular composite overwrap used behaves when saturated with liquid oxygen. -
Re:Grande with a shot of poop
You're not the first person to think this is more than a little weird.

Re:Distinct taste?
Classic obligatory column on Kopi Luwak. Definitely a memorable description of his experience with it.

Re:Caffeine-free coffee
No one that drinks coffee for the taste drinks "flavored coffee". They'd rather drink coffee that was pooped out of a monkey than drink vanilla flavored coffee.
Kopi Luwak is the world's most expensive coffee, and it is indeed "pooped out of" an animal. Try not to let your cultural biases cloud your thinking.
So I say that coffee connoisseurs would enjoy a cup of coffee pooped out of a monkey, and you point out the actual coffee I was referring to (ok, it's a civet, not a monkey), and you accuse me of culturally clouded thinking?
It's not like the pooped out coffee is that obscure, even Dave Barry mentioned it:
http://www.davebarry.com/misccol/decaf.htm
Then I thought: What kind of world is this when you worry that people might be ripping you off by selling you coffee that was NOT pooped out by a weasel?

The Onion outdid Dave Barry on this one ...
I'd say he was beaten out for most thought-provoking coverage of this phenomenon. But I don't think anyone's ever topped his take on a peculiar kind of coffee.

That's only half the story
The lifespan, and quality of life, of the gas releaser may indeed be increased, when compared to gas non-releasers. I believe Dave Barry is an expert in this field of research. His theory is that women tend to be more uptight than men because they tend to "bottle up" their emissions for later release, rather than allowing them to escape in a natural, relaxing manner.

references
1. Dave Barry wrote an important piece concerning nanotube application (in layperson's terms , carbon nanotubes are nanotubes made of carbon)
It also talks about those dummy close door elevator buttons (whose cousins, the crosswalk buttons were talked about a lot)
2. the original title was Dave Barry: Lawyers needed, many, to test space elevator , i'll get to that in a second.
OK let sum it up
youv'e got
a - a women suing her successfull son for slander (or ST) trying to get rich.
b - a women pretrnding to fall over in a day after Xmas DVD sale to sue the company (didn't it turn out that it was the 16th time she sued them ... (while being employed))
c - companies patenting facts, ideas , linux code.
d- a women suing (and winning) a department store claiming she sprained her arm tripping over a toddler (her own child)
e - a man suing his neighbor (and getting 5 figures) claiming the dog attacked him (which is true except that "he started it" by repeatedly shooting the dog with a BB gun)
(i appologize for not citing the reference but you can google for outrageous lawsuits to see that i downtoned)
These are syndromes of a society with too many lawyers, coupled with distorted get rich quick ideas
------ why don't all these people just meet up with wealthy nigerian businessmen/inheritors and split the $20,000,000,023.85 that just needs a resourceful individual like yourself .. -
High TechYou could try the catapault watch.
Or you could see if you can find a Hydraulic WatchWith this watch, when you want to know what time it is, you pull a knob, which activates a hydraulic piston mechanism, which raises a little cover, thus revealing the watch face.

Re:Why PKD resonates todayUmmmm....You forgot
We have "tax simplification" bills that only encompass 3000 pages.
Every politician ever in the history of time has promised to lower taxes, yet not once has my yearly tax bill gone down.
Apologies, and thanks to Dave Barry. -
Re:I will if a candidate agrees with me!
Show me a candidate who represents me, and I'll vote for him.
Dave Barry! (yep, he's "running" again.)
DAVE BARRY'S VIEWS ON THE ISSUES:
Dave Barry agrees with you 100 percent on all the issues.
If I had any interest whatsoever in voting, I might actually vote for him, too. I think Dave Barry getting a visible percentage of the votes (even half a percent) would say something. -
In other news...
...columnist Dave Barry has sued Robert Cringely for the unauthorized use of the sentence "I am not making this up" immediately following a statement whose content is patently unbelievable but is, in fact, true.

Re:best question of them all
Or maybe he was? Check out the Dave Barry for President 2004 website.
(And yes, it's just a joke). -
Get out and vote!
"9) When you vote...."
Ah, I see. The whole reason he did the Q&A is for the presidential campaign commercials. "Dave Barry for President... He listens to you. *insert shot of Dave reading Slashdot at his computer and wondering why someone moderated his last post as a troll*"
Don't forget to vote: and read the official campaign website.

Re:Difficult to be funny?
I believe he somewhat answer this in his web page FAQ for students:
Do you ever sit down to write your weekly column and just not feel like being funny? What do you do?
I often don't feel funny; I just keep at it, and eventually something appears.
People posting questions should definitely check the FAQ's first, links to the two are here -
Old news
Veryold news in the states. Dave Barry did an article on these a few years ago. He notes you can launch many things with them (including a Barbie doll). Not that he advocates that or anything.
That being said - this article seems pretty irrelevant to slashdot. Not only is the potato cannon old news, I'm sure assorted techies have come up with far more interesting stuff than that.
