Wikipedia is too biased for my news.
I read a bunch of news sites and its easy to see if they are left or right leaning. Wikipedia isnt balanced anymore. There are paid editors who are very left, and the majority is left, feminist and social justice leaning. They can bend any topic to fit a narrative which is damn annoying for a fact based article when its riddle with emotional propaganda.
Just google gamergate and wikipedia, editor ryulong is the perfect example. https://encyclopediadramatica....
Love watching news on youtube, the young turks network is pretty good. I like to play the TYT drinking game, take a shot every time they blame a republican or mention gun control.

Powerword
Stop moving the goalposts
That was my first question. How should I determine whether or not asking a particular question constitutes "moving the goalposts" that would warrant use of Powerword: Real Name?
Besides, aren't there external boxes that connect to a laptop's ExpressCard port and present a PCIe x1 slot?
I didn't know home laptops still had ExpressCard ports. I was under the impression that that had become reserved for larger, high-end business laptops.

Re:Use university essays to replace stubs?
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” - Isaac Asimov
Wikipediocracy:1. Wikipedia disrespects and disregards scholars, experts, scientists, and others with special knowledge. Wikipedia specifically disregards authors with special knowledge, expertise, or credentials. There is no way for a real scholar to distinguish himself or herself from a random anonymous editor merely claiming scholarly credentials, and thus no claim of credentials is typically believed. Even when credentials are accepted, Wikipedia affords no special regard for expert editors contributing in their fields. This has driven most expert editors away from editing Wikipedia in their fields. Similarly, Wikipedia implements no controls that distinguish mature and educated editors from immature and uneducated ones.
Compare to Jimbulb Wales' response regarding expert certification of sections on articles on science and medicine:
"There's a notion that the way to get the very highest quality information is to have an expert certify it. But there's actually little evidence that this is true. There is far more evidence that the best way to get to high quality information is to have a thoughtful, open, public dialog and discussion and debate. To ask anyone with a concern to come forward and voice it reasonably. And to respond quickly and openly to errors."
So what we get with Shittypedia is what we've always gotten with shittypedia: lack of anything more than superficial "well it wer in the new york times durr" level research, people who engage in edit warring to "own" the articles, and the admins playing to push their personal POV or help their personal friends. Articles remain much, much worse because of the threads of anti-intellectualism running through the wikipedia culture. It's the "if it isn't on the internet it isn't worthy as a reference" crowd, and the "TL;DR" crowd.
And of course Jimbulb will never answer the other problem inherent to Wikipedia, which makes the anti-intellectual problem even worse:
3. Wikipedia’s administrators have become an entrenched and over-powerful elite, unresponsive and harmful to authors and contributors. Without meaningful checks and balances on administrators, administrative abuse is the norm, rather than the exception, with blocks and bans being enforced by fiat and whim, rather than in implementation of policy. Many well-meaning editors have been banned simply on suspicion of being previously banned users, without any transgression, while others have been banned for disagreeing with a powerful admin’s editorial point of view. There is no clear-cut code of ethics for administrators, no truly independent process leading to blocks and bans, no process for appeal that is not corrupted by the imbalance of power between admin and blocked editor, and no process by which administrators are reviewed regularly for misbehaviour.
4. Wikipedia’s numerous policies and procedures are not enforced equally on the community — popular or powerful editors are often exempted. Administrators, in particular, and former administrators, are frequently allowed to transgress (or change!) Wikipedia’s numerous “policies”, such as those prohibiting personal attacks, prohibiting the release of personal information about editors, and those prohibiting collusion in editing.
Ask yourself: why did Jimbulb hire "Essjay", KNOWING that the kid had lied and misrepresented himself as a topic area expert (claiming to have a doctorate and b

And if anybody protests, they can just report them for searching CP.
At which point plausible deniability adds reasonable doubt. See also CP (disambiguation).

okay, fine. it won't do anything unless the victim clicks on the entry field. if they do, you've
... crashed their web browser. not the hack of the century, and the victim won't do it again.sorry, i just don't see how this would be a problem. most websites don't want to crash their visitors' web browsers. i guess you can use it in a shock site, but hell, last measure (link mostly safe) was more annoying than this could be, and that didn't even exploit a bug.

Suicide works! (sometimes)
I believe, I have to bring to everyone's attention one uncomfortable fact -- a suicide of a person was sufficient to bring important issues to the attention of public and institutions when everything else utterly and completely failed.
Now, everyone who ever repeated anti-suicide formulas about suiide being inherently cowardly, selfish, pointless, etc. act, is welcome to kiss his dead ass. While it's true that most suicides result in nothing remarkable, so do most lives.
On a lighter note, Aaron Swartz is now both a hero and an hero.

Encyclopedia DramaticaI'm completely devastated about the current state of Wikipedia, just like you, I hate all this bureaucratic crap. That's why I take all my factually correct information from Encyclopedia Dramatica, where the asylum is running the inmates. Why have bureaucracy when you can have "bureaucrazy"?
But seriously, do you expect something as vast and ambitious as Wikipedia to exist without a somewhat intimidating rulebook? I'm not saying Wikipedians shouldn't be more welcoming or helpful, or that they're not, perhaps the problem is related to the way the site is structured. It's not easy for newcomers to find their way around the place, or around the people.

Odd how "anon" morals turn on a dime
One minute they harass and bully "Jessi Slaughter" for being an underage camwhore, even making threatening phone calls all hours of the night, sending pizzas, threatening violence/rape/etc.
The underage nudes were given to police and anon for Jessi taken from her parents and placed in foster care for a couple months but then her dad died and she moved back home and changed schools.
https://encyclopediadramatica.se/Jessi_Slaughter
real anon would not be moral, this is some offshoot claiming to be anon, and not the real anon.
The real anon would have pushed her to suicide and laughed about it and posted it on ED
like they already have:https://encyclopediadramatica.se/Amanda_Todd
this offshoot trying to post dox isn't the real anon.

Tracing
as long as they are writing their own implementation including creating their own artwork, they are legally entitled to do so
Based on the screenshots I saw in the legal filing, Zynga didn't create its own artwork from scratch as much as trace that of EA and other developers.

I'm 50-50 on this, I guess.
Google is fine, they've only done a few things to upset me (privacy problems aside).
Amazon is... tolerable. They do some questionable things now and then, but overall they're all right.
Facebook is bad in that while they seem as intent on invading your privacy as much as Google, they contribute little back, unlike Google.
eBay, or rather PayPal, is flat out evil for reasons better explained in (of all places) an Encyclopedia Dramatica article (warning: potentially NSFW). I will never, ever do business with them and I urge others to follow suit. -

Re:Wasn't even a big storm
I was in it - it was not a particularly bad storm. Heavy winds, lots of cloud-to-cloud lightning, but very little rain or cloud-to-ground lightning. I lost power repeatedly, but it was always back up within seconds. And I'm located way out in a rural area, where the power supply is much more vulnerable (every time a major hurricane hits, I'm usually without power for about a week - bad enough that I bought a small generator).
According to TFA, they were only without power for half an hour, and that the ongoing problems were related to recovery, not actual power-lossage. So their problems are more "bad disaster planning" than "bad disaster".
Still, you'd think a major data center would have the usual UPS and generator setup most major data centers have - half an hour without power is something they should have been able to handle. Or at least have enough UPS capacity to cleanly shut down all the machines or migrate the virtual instances to a different datacenter.
Me, me, me, me, me!
Your post brings this to mind.
BTW, having lived in rural areas in MD, they were far less likely to be victims of the weather than built up areas (where I currently live in MD). The rural electric co-ops are MUCH better about preventative maintenance than the for profit companies. Further, one minor outage in Montgomery Co. (where I currently am) can put hundreds or thousands of times more people without power than a similar outage in St. Mary's Co.
In short, get your head out of your ass, and understand that the world is bigger than the view from your mom's basement would lead you to believe.

Re:Well, if they're going to generalize, I am too
I work out quite regularly, and the one thing that I do is "raise" my testosterone by limiting my sexual activities for a week or two at a time. It makes me slightly aggressive, but it also greatly improves my sex life and my workout regimen. And using my free time to do productive activities like entrepreneurship and investment, interesting and fun activities like rock climbing or surfing, and even (relatively) mundane activities like reading, building lego contraptions, or fixing up my house makes my life infinitely interesting than someone who is hooked to a video game.
Here is a better copypasta for you: http://encyclopediadramatica.se/So_cash
