Re:Diminishing returns
First I thought about why I would use such an inefficient cooling solution as a heatsink and fan
Presumably, they wouldn't. Presumably they would use a liquid coolant circulated through the motor and a heat exchanger somewhere else. You still need to sink at least 20kW of power, though, so it doesn't change the size of the required heatsink - it just moves it somewhere.
Then I thought why is an electric motor putting out as much heat per watt as CPU?
It isn't. The most efficient motors are in the 99% range. It is realistic to assume a 97+% efficiency. So a 2MW motor has at least 20kW of waste energy to dissipate as heat. This is opposed to a CPU, where nearly 100% of the power is dissipated as heat. That's why the heatsink only needs to be 200x larger and not 20,000x larger.
The Toyota Prius has a 60KW electric engine as well as a traditional ICE.
The Prius does not have the same weight constraints as an airplane, nor is the motor spinning as fast. But the electric motors are cooled by the automatic transmission fluid, which has a radiator. I believe the inverter coolant also circulates through the transmission, further cooling the motors. Which reminds me - the plane will also have a 2MW inverter that will range from 95-99% efficient, requiring even more cooling... that seems pretty straightforward, though, since at least the inverter isn't moving. The batteries themselves will also require cooling.
For cooling electric motors, I'm sure you could give your mate Elon a call
Tesla patented their cooling design, so we know exactly how that works. It looks like a bullshit patent - they use the only known good way to keep fluid from leaking out of a spinning thing - centrifugal force. It is highly likely that the airplane motor will use exactly this type of cooling. But again, weight is a much bigger problem than on a car and the parts are spinning much faster. You also don't need to worry about your cooling system impeding airflow through the engine on a car.
And I'm not saying it is impossible - simply that it's a very challenging engineering problem, and it is likely to have significant trade-offs.

Re:I agree
Actually VOIP works pretty well
Find a VOIP provider, e.g.
https://www.powervoip.com/dash...
Buy $10 credit
Then install a VOIP app on your phone
E.g.
And you can call Taiwan to/from the US or UK for like $0.001-$0.003 per minute. So that $10 will last a long time. And you do it over WiFi so you don't get hit with data charges. MobileVOIP as a callback option if you don't have Wifi. Hell in the when I'm in the US I even used it for domestic calls because my $30 a month T Mobile Walmart Pay As You Go card only had 100 minutes of talk time bundled and I preferred to keep those for incoming calls. Which in the US, unlike anywhere else count in the world against your minutes allowance and start to cost money when that runs out.
So if you need to call people who don't have Skype/Hangouts/Facetime/Messenger/What'sApp/Line/etc you can do it pretty cheaply.

Re:What a waste!
Has anyone actually tried to get $10k for a BTC? I'd really like to see someone post they actually cashed out BTC into US Dollars.
I can send some to Coinbase, have them convert it, and have money in my bank account in a few days. If I'm in a hurry and don't care about getting a suboptimal exchange rate, I can drive downtown and use the Bitcoin ATM at the D. There are probably other methods as well, but those are the ones I've used.
(Hell, it turns out there are more Bitcoin ATMs around here than I thought. The one at the D was the first in town IIRC.)

Because I don't currently run ownCloud
So I notice you ignored the existence of LibreOffice ownCloud, is there some reason for that?
I had never heard of LibreOffice ownCloud. A web search produced a first result that isn't responding. (I checked on isup.me and the site appears to be down.)
The following is conjecture based on what little I know about ownCloud from other sources: In order to evaluate it, I would need to do one of two things, neither of which is without charge. One is purchase a server on which to run ownCloud and upgrade my home Internet to business class in order to have a static IP, avoid blocks of inbound ports 80 and 443, and avoid a disconnection penalty for running a server. The other is lease a VPS on which to run ownCloud. Either way, I would also need to buy a domain.

:D Germany is the leading exporter. And France is alternating between an leading importer for a few years and then being a small exporter again.Regarding CO2 emissions in electric power generation, obviously France looks much better there than Germany. No one doubted that.
My point simply was: a decent amount of electric power (roughly 10% of Frances usage) is produced by Germany.
This is focused more on 2016 and more a news than a "report": http://energypost.eu/france-ca...
This is focused on 2014 and an energy report:
You are just seeing what you want to see, not reality. Germany and France both import and export at different times. Any time either is importing, it could be claimed that they can't 'meet their power demand'. You fell for that, because you wanted to. France exports much more than it imports.
France has been the leading net exporter of electricity for years, Germany has been a close second. It is possible they produced slightly more this past year;

Re:Adapt not Evolve
-
This will backfire on FB, Google etc
Steve Bannon has already suggested regulating them as utilities
https://www.google.com/amp/s/s...
Essentially the Democrats want one set of unpopular companies regulated. Bannon wants another set regulated. Right now the mainstream GOP is sticking to principle - ie that regulating either is bad and the status quo should stay. As US politics becomes more about shafting the other tribe and less about principles that might change though. I think it's fair to assume Trump is not overly concerned with abstract principles.
Of course neither the Democrats or the GOP will confront the fact that telco monopolies were created by regulation. The reason people worry about Comcast abusing its position is because in many places in the US there is only one ISP option. Which is not true for most customers in the UK for example. UK regulations are not perfect but living in the UK I always had a choice of ISP. Hell even in corporatist Sweden that was true. Ericsson was powerful enough to avoid taxes but it wasn't powerful enough to manipulate regulations so it was a monopoly ISP.
And the Net Neutrality advocates won't confront the fact that their argument for net neutrality should apply to Google and FB which are decidedly non neutral for political content. Then they say "It's a private company, they can do what they want" and link to that xkcd cartoon about being shown the door.
It's hard to sympathize much with either side really. The GOP don't really oppose regulation because they want to keep the regulations that create monopolies. And the Net Neutrality folks don't really believe in Net Neutrality. If Google and FB violate Net Neutrality in ways that hurt their political opponents and help their political allies they don't care.
And it's more likely that both the Democrats and Republicans decide on regulation based on whether it helps companies that donate to them and hurts ones who don't than that they're acting out of anything resembling principle.

https://www.statista.com/stati...

Re:Nuclear emergency plans are wishful thinking
France does not import 10% of its power from Germany. Yes it does: https://www.energy-charts.de/e...
But is easy to just check CO2 output and see that France is much lower. Not difficult with 25% less population
:DMy god you are ignorant. That chart just shows total German imports and exports, it doesn't even have the total power used in France at all, that is a German export chart.
As for CO2 output, there is the thing called 'per capita'. Have you ever heard of it? Germany is almost twice as high as France in per capita CO2 emissions. https://www.google.com/search?...
And if you want to just look at electrical generation, you can do it 'per TWH';
"In 2016, Germany generated 545 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity at an average rate of approximately 560 grams of carbon dioxide emitted per kWh. By contrast, France generated 530 TWh of electricity at an average rate of approximately 58 grams of carbon dioxide emitted per kWh. In terms of carbon emissions from electricity, this means that Germany emitted almost exactly ten times as much as France -- over 300 million metric tonnes."
http://environmentalprogress.o...
Your problem is you just say stuff you want to be true without even checking to see if it is true. Why did you know now this about Germany and France?. It is common knowledge. Are you still going to ignore this well established fact and make your false claims? -

Hosts add speed (via hardcodes/adblocks), security (vs. bad sites/malware/poisoned dns), reliability (vs. dns down), & anonymity (vs. dns requestlogs/trackers).
Less power/cpu/ram + IO use vs. DNS/routers/addons/antivirus + less security bugs/complexity & faster vs. addons/routers/remote dns!
Avoids DNSChangers in routers/IP settings & dns redirect (99++% of ISP DNS != patched vs. it) + DNS tracking & lighten DNS load & resolve faster from local RAM!
* Via what u NATIVELY have in a FASTER kernelmode IP stack (doing more w/ less).

before "net neutrality"
There was a time in the not-too-distant past when the "net neutrality" rule wasn't in effect. So far, nobody has come up with any actual problems from that era that "net neutrality" fixed.
Some perhaps helpful links. https://plus.google.com/111504... which links to http://thegarrisoncenter.org/a... , and also http://knappster.blogspot.com/...
Ending "net neutrality" will not be the end of anything good. Dogs and cats will not be living together. There will be no mass hysteria. "Those people" will not suddenly start to want to marry your sister. Witches won't put a curse on you. And so on.

Re:"The Dow is at record-breaking levels"
have pushed average prices for new double-wides up more than 20 percent in five years, putting them out of reach for many of the newly homeless.
Late-stage capitalism is when you can't afford the rope to hang yourself, but your #MAGA hat is subsidized.
...
What a load of "progressive" bullshit.
How's that glorious revolution going in Venezuela, comrade?
You know, where "late stage socialism" turned a country with the largest oil reserves on the planet into a place where you can't get medicine or food?
Mariana Mejias can't afford to buy a bag of rice in Venezuela. She lives in Mariche, an extremely poor neighborhood in the country's capital, Caracas, which suffers from severe food and medical shortages like the rest of the country.
Hoooray! for the FREE STUFFZ!!! of "progressive" economics! Where your starvation is FREE!!!
Unlike your fantasies, there is actual, documented economic failure in Venezuela - where a Google news search for "Venezuela food shortage" returns 47,000 hits, like this:
'Death spiral': 4,000% inflation in Venezuela
Venezuela just defaulted, moving deeper into crisis
Venezuela media law: 'Threat to freedom of expression'
But you go ahead and keep telling yourself the Communism and socialism work "when done right".
Because they never run out of other people's money, right? Venezuela and Greece and Detroit aren't broke! It's just a capitalist conspiracy! The Communist Soviet Union didn't fail and fall apart because Communism isn't flawed! Right, comrade?
You fucking fool.

My initial reaction was incorrect.
The underlying problem? Try number 2. Downloading a list and warning users of contacting any site on that list may be a good idea. But that should not be a browser function, it should be an operating system function. There should be a warning any time a computer tries to connect to an unsafe site, for any reason, not just because of browsing.
The Slashdot summary and the stories linked in the summary don't mention that Mozilla is apparently merely copying the Google Chrome browser: Manage warnings about unsafe sites.
My initial reaction was incorrect partly because of poor communication. I didn't understand what was being reported. -

filetype:torrent still works
Some random words placed in the right order to show it still works. Good way to learn about other torrent sites.

Re:Bad Article - Fake News
If you google a little harder you'll find sites that say "Big Norm's" weight was 1,600 lbs rather than the 1,200 lbs you site from Answers.com. That just shows you that the site Answers.com is in error.
The other problem may be that you are asking the wrong question. Instead try:
https://www.google.com/search?...
I have had many boars >1,200 lbs.
I have read that pigs are related to hippos but my pigs are domestic breeds of swine, not hippos.
It is always somewhat ironic when someone with just a keyboard (you) tries to tell someone who actually is in the field what reality is like. You missed, probably again.
-
You might need to read your post again
here's a good example of the sort of fallacy you're falling into and told much better than I could.
And there's generally very little looting after disasters in America. Less when there's a Democrat in charge and the response to the disaster is something besides incompetence or indifference. Trump's response was Ok (if you're not in PR) because he hadn't finished replacing the Obama FEMA appointees. In PR where he handed over to his men they're still mostly without power.
You're pushing a false narrative that poor people are poor because they have bad morals. It's used by the wealthy to excuse abandoning them to their fate. It helps you feel better about yourself when you ignore their plight. It's a narrative, and a false one. If it wasn't society would be in chaos since 100 years ago during the Guilded Age 90% of people were what we called poor. There's plenty of other evidence to make that narrative into so much bullshit, but the folks who push it (like yourself) generally won't look for such evidence because, well, it means admitting you're being a stinker by abandoning the poor.
But don't take my word for it, here's a much better explanation.
I realize this is going to touch a nerve. But it's like dentistry. There's no way to fix it without some pain. And I'm not a very good dentist either. You should probably see a specialist. I recommend Bernie Sanders. -
Re:Jews, blacks, and the disabled not welcome
I can't think of any examples of "gangs" shooting hundreds of people at random like in Vegas. And by "gangs" we can only assume you mean black people, you racist fuck.
It's very convenient of you to exclude "non-sucide gun deaths", so I'll go for the unintentional deaths which account for 80% of the deaths caused by white owned guns. These are primary accidental handgun deaths, but if your baby was shot intentionally or accidental through the apartment wall it hardly matters to you.

Fake News
Apple puts stores where there are customers who will buy their products. This includes various cities in China, Africa and other nations where the whites are a minor portion of the population. See Google Maps:

Laws of physics/materials don't change
Laws of physics or materials don't change (for mech engineers) - things change in computing like mad by comparison
E.G. - As new gTLD's were added, it made ME have to go & add them to my code for APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ SR-7 32/64-bit https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=&bih=&q=%22APK+Hosts+File+Engine%22+and+%22start64%22&btnG=Google+Search&gbv=1/ to test endings of lines in hosts for VALID tld - otherwise remove it & MINUS me doing that, my program would have missed a TON of malicious sites on new gTLD's (many have $1 price for domains w/ 255 subdomains beneath 'em - gTLD WAS ATTRACTIVE TO MALWARE MAKERS more than ANYONE!) & gTLD busted a LOT of others' code!
APK
P.S.=> No bug's turned up in my program to date since 2012 but I wrote my code myself not using 3rd party libs/dlls (All per my point here https://ask.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=11386999&cid=55600479/ I noted as a 24++ yr. professional dev. )
-
Addendum (faulty 3rd party libs/toolkits)... apk
See subject: Use of faulty 3rd party libs/dll or toolkits - a fault developers using others' libs & faulty libs devs!
E.G.-> A competitor to APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ SR-7 32/64-bit https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=&bih=&q=%22APK+Hosts+File+Engine%22+and+%22start64%22&btnG=Google+Search&gbv=1/ in Hostsman (doesn't do as much as mine ala hardcoded favs you spend MOST time @ online speeding them up via FASTER local RAM access vs. remote DNS + protects you vs. DNS security issues or DNS down & dns requestlog trackers - they used SQLite (browsers do too) & IT TURNED UP A HUGE BUG!
I was asked by Malwarebytes' Steven Burn "Why don't you just use SQLite & be done w/ it?"
THIS IS WHY!
I wrote my code myself by hand (never a bug in that program above to date since 2012).
APK
P.S.=> Depending on OTHERS WORK weakens you not coding a job yourself (you have MORE CONTROL of it via source you wrote yourself totally)... apk

Re: Liability is separated from ownership
A sole proprietor in the US is liable for what they do. Small businesses are liable.
Once you issue stock, everything changes. The public corporation could knowingly kill and maim hundreds of customers, but nothing will happen to the owners of the company.
If, say, a dentist knowingly killed 124 and maimed 274 people, that dentist would go to jail, and his/her assets would be taken and wages would be garnished for the rest of his/her life. -
Re:Issue?
But Mussolini didn't make the trains run on time.
Totally agree about the hate though -- controversy, conflict and violence sure are profitable though and as long as our media systems makes money by keeping everyone continuously angry and offended -- it's not going to change. When TV news wasn't supposed to be profitable, journalism provided more light than heat.
