mistaken identity
On Slashdot Chrome is still the #4 browser (after FF, IE, and Safari) but it was ahead of Safari for a few days there hitting almost 10% of our traffic.
on that note, MSNBC (co-owned by Microsoft) mistook Chrome for Safari and suggested to try Firefox instead.

Re:High resolution images possible in near future?
What about something with a more limited resolution range ie,
Same basic parameters apply obviously, but an image of something like this with just a few brown&green smudges of continents would be remarkable.

Well duh
The boring part is that it sucks having to get an external HDD, back up your machine, be left without it for weeks because there are no Apple stores in Sweden so you have to send it in, and so on so on. So I waited until the last days of the warranty just to notice that their gay webpage seem to count one year FROM SHIPPING DATE and not from when I actually got the machine in my hands. So I couldn't fill in the RMA crap because it said my machine was out of warranty. I mailed them and they told me to call them but I haven't yet because it's so fucking inconvenient and I would rather take it by text.
Hate Apple. Also my backlighting must have some scratch or something because I have an area underneath the actual pixels which is brighter and if I move my head it moves behind them. Not to forget the retarded decision on their part to just use 128 MB, which is another reason I waited, just in case I would happen to get a 256MB vram machine in return. Not likely but I could hope
..Yeah, and the aluminium "foil" has become lose around the lid button so it bumps out..
* Usually the issue isn't as serious as that, in Safari the text just used to be mixed up. I thought maybe it was some memory issue or something because Safari always seemed to take all ram. But everyone else claimed they never had that problem (though not very unlikely for mac people) and since I sometimes gets other weird issues I guess my GPU is a little faulty.

I'll Tell You Why
I had to make sure I was reading the article correctly as Kutztown is not a very large or well known campus. I'm not sure as to why they chose Kutztown for their first pictures. I would be interested if anybody could provide some sort of insight as to what process was used to select the first test location. Was the satellite simply in a convenient orbit to snap pictures of Kutztown?
Maybe you could explain this close up image of your campus? (It's from the lower right of the article's image)
Don't be coy, we all saw the lead up to this in the papers earlier this year. Kutztown's had this coming--it was one thing to invite Putin to talk but when he left those trailers, that was too far.
On a serious note, I'm certain they picked Kutztown based on the following:
Let P denote the number of lawyers a university has on reserve.
Let Q denote the number of lawyers Google has on reserve.
Let R denote said university's reserve resources for emergencies.
Let L be a function such that L(x) = the number of lawyers one can immediately hire with x dollars.
Is P + L(R) Q? Then I think we have a candidate! I found it on Google Scholar. -

Re:simply boycott them
It's been pointed out MANY times that Stardock games do have DRM. I point you to the sig.bin file (which causes a validation check if removed) in your install folder and this image:

Re:Bah,.
I open my Galactic Civilizations 2 game folder, there is a sig.bin file and an activate.exe file. If you remove the sig.bin file the game will prompt for activation.

Re:Evenly distributed?
I don't argue that collisions didn't have their place, but I'm arguing that gravity also plays a bigger role in this. At least you didn't instantly go out and call me a "crackpot" for thinking about the whole thing and questioning instead of believing "the world was flat because that's what I was told in school."
All I'm basically saying is that the sheet of space/time analogy given is a really bad one. To me, it's kind of like the car analogies floating around here. They don't quite fit and teaching kids to think that the Earth is rolling around on some invisible surface is all wrong.
In order to explain my point a little better, I'm breaking out paint (because it's all I have right at this moment).
http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/7175/orbityb0.png
Take this massive object with two objects (a/b) in orbit. Let's say that object "a" is a moon and "b" is a ring of small rocks. Over time, the moon will influence all the rocks in the ring and all the ring's rocks will influence the moon. This will cause them to adjust their orbits to match. Well duh, right? All you have to do now is scale this up to the solar system. If two planets are following similar orbits, they will pull an abstract orbiting object into a similar orbit. Scale this up to galaxy proportions and so on. I'd argue that you could also say the same about the moons orbital horizons vs the planetary horizons. Eventually, with every pass of Jupiter, Saturn's rings would be slowly pulled outward and downward until they match the overall horizon of the solar system. In the model above, the two objects will likely collide due to gravity pulling them together, most likely placing spin on the moon and cementing it's place in orbit. Personally, I feel that this is how Earth's moon may have collided with us. If not through a collision orbit, but through gravity pulling it into a similar orbit and eventually into a collision. This is also why I think we have a slightly off perfect rotation which will eventually level out.
That's basically all I'm saying. Whether that is "crackpot", like the poster below thinks, or not... that's how I theorize the disc shapes we see with objects in non-colliding orbits.
I would take that further and state that I still have a problem with the "big bang" theory. Even though someone (don't remember off the top of my head) found traces of energy waves using the big horn telescope, that only explains that we may have been a part of some massive galactic collision (or near collision) in the past. It doesn't explain to me that somehow the entire universe came from a very dense massive object that just up and exploded one day. (Also, for the record, I don't believe that "God" did it either. I just don't think we have enough evidence and scope to determine that at this time.)

Re:Who did?
It's entirely likely that some scientologit did this and claimed that "anonymous" was behind it. Google for "operation freakout" for another example of the criminal nut-cult framing an innocent party for a crime.
Too clever for the Scilons, and too lulzy (that picture of cross-eyed Bristol and comparatively-sane Trig is hilarious!) for the Scilons' taste, too. If it was OSA, the Scilons would have attacked a Scilon website/dropbox, the mailbox would have been fake, and the press releases in protest would already be flooding Scilon PR agents' inboxes.
Occam's Razor says this one was real, and it was Anonymous. It was illegal, it was wrong, it was funny as all fuck, and while I can't (and don't) condone it, I can still laugh (pic is SFW, and if you don't at least suppress a giggle, you seriously have no fracking soul
:) at it.The Anonymous that fights the Scilon threat can still be the Anonymous that mocks the Tigh/Roslin ticket. It can also be the Anonymous that votes for Tigh/Roslin. Anonymous can oppose ourselves. We are, after all, Legion.
Anonymous broke the story. Anonymous shielded her account by changing the password and letting Yahoo's automated password-protection-fu shut the account down. Anonymous is enjoying the show, and munching on popcorn. Go Anonymous, warts and all.

Re:For once ...
laptop already have one cooling point for both cpu and gpu, see there for acer internals. Gpu & cpu are near one another, sharing the same heatsink and the same heatpipe to the common fan.
the dvi output problem has been already resolved - never heard of integrated vga? those chips are on the motherboard, and circuits move outputs to the right connector - I'm dumbing it down here but there is no techincal difficulty to have the cpu drive just anoter form of bus.
Right now gpu are transforming in teraflop range generic processors, limited only by the driver command queue wich sees them as stream processors. gpu are starting to be so generic that the step to just use them as system processor is very short, and very obvious. Current limitations are clear: the memory and the bus used for the gpu is very oriented on putting graphics on screen, so any backward/interactive operation is slow as hell. porting all that computing capacity on a generic package using a native instruction set could allow OS to run on a massively parallel core, allowing to rasterize graphic directly in "software", where software here stands for a generic purpose cpu -

Re:The Witcher Enhanced Edition
I tried registry and everything. It still did not take it. Also, I posted above about the sig.bin file, but this is how the game's DRM works. It basically required a hardware signature file to be generated using the Stardock software.
Yeah, I can go into Stardock Central and "activate" my game so I can use it, and that's the DRM I'm talking about. Here's a screen cap. Until I do this process of opening Stardock Central, logging in, and activating it... my game is locked out and will not run.
