I got through, and uploaded it to imageshack in case it goes down again or I was just lucky in getting through.

My biggest problem is GIMP's default window management setup. Unless you set both panels to "keep above," they will invariably get lost under the window clutter.
Combine the two like this. -
Re:That's 200% Accuracy!
[Google's] filtering tech is pretty close to perfect
I am so, so sick of this attitude that gmail has a decent spam filter that I actually took the time to edit a screenshot of my gmail inbox.
Here it is.
To make it even more obvious for you, I have highlighted interesting emails in green (ones that I want to read) and the spam gmail let through in red. There's a number of phishing attempts in there (Microsoft and Ebay emails are spoofed). There's spam that should very obviously have been junked by any decent Bayesian filter ("National Lottery", "Winner" and cjk characters should be a dead giveaway). Many of these are the classic Nigerian scams that are easily blocked (I do it myself on my own damn mailserver).
This is not a sudden rash. I routinely receive this level of spam to this inbox every single day. -

Remove it immediately to prevent harm to your computer and protect your privacy!
A convicted monopolists' anti-spyware program marking the competitions' web browser as spyware/a security risk? Wow. They just have no fear, do they?. If they have the Justice Department and the politicians that well-bought that they feel they can get away with things like this, one has to wonder how long it'll be until they simply have their lapdogs in government mandate their software as the only 'legal' option.
Cheers!

Re:ScreenshotsI like the widget and window theme, but the kicker replacement at the bottom looks pretty tacky. It was the same in beta, and I'd hoped they'd change it for release, but it seems like they're sticking with it.

Re:I've wanted something like this for a long time
Getting all this information and more into one integrated hardware/software package is a feature I'd gladly pay more for.
Check out Everest Ultimate Edition. Here's a screenshot of the sensor page: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4020/everestoe0.jpg. Everest also shows VERY detailed information on every aspect of your hardware, operating system and software. It's quite an impressive piece of software, the only downside is that it's Windows only. -
Re:Printer Analog SensorsI hope the sensors work better than the ones in my HP printers. I hope they work better than their own product. The CPU temp depicted is actually 51 degC, according to more accurate Core Temp and Intel TAT monitors. The nForce fan speed is actually ~5000 RPMs, but registers 11000 every few seconds without getting any louder. Occasionally the CPU core and FSB are drastically off.
Even with nVidia's integrated monitor, most "enthusiasts" (overclockers) end up trusting other independent utilities like SpeedFan and CoreTemp, and disregarding nVidia's monitor. Maybe that's what they're trying to improve. If they get better standardization of the sensors, maybe they'll be able to make a more accurate utility.
So far, nVidia makes great enthusiast hardware, but really poor enthusiast software to control it. -

The guy says that $50,000 worth of stuff was stolen...not only servers, but misc crap like routers, and battery chargers for Black Berry units.
I'd say either look for a new web host startup in the Chicago area in the next year, or a lot of stuff going cheap on Ebay.
The saddest part about this is that the crims clubbed and zapped some innocent guy that would have offered zero resistance. For this, I hope they thieves go to jail for a long time. -

Re:Early Adoption
Also Windows (at least XP and below) doesn't highlight the foreground window real well, so if you have a bunch of windows opened and showing, it's really hard to tell which one is the front most window.
That's simply not true. Windows since atleast Windows 95 has made the titlebar of the window a different colour than the background window(s). It's quite easy to tell which window is in the foreground and which windows are the in the background.
Here's a comparison shot of the foreground and background windows in XP using the default fisher price theme: http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/1133/foregroundbackgrounddefav3.jpg. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that, the window that isn't greyed out is the one which has the keyboard and mouse focus. Ever since Windows 95, you can also customize the foreground/background window titlebar colours and make the foreground blue and the background grey (for instance), if you really have trouble distinguishing between the two. I've never seen or used OSX, so perhaps Apple does a better job of highlighting the differences between the two.OS X also uses drag and drop a whole lot more than Windows, so that necessitates having windows next to each other rather than on top of each other. Someone in Windows will always go to the right-click first, and old Mac user will try drag and drop first; which also explains why a right-click wasn't very important to Macs for a long time.
Though I've never used OSX, I think you are correct. The only time I ever seem to drag and drop is when I'm copying files in Windows Explorer. For individual applications, I always use the file open/save dialog. I still have the option to drag and drop files in Windows, but I find it more time consuming and I prefer to have certain applications maximized, which makes dragging and dropping a pain. -
Re:Freedom
Quick follow up to my previous post. I just checked the Canadian Apple Store and the prices are what I originally listed. Here's a screenshot I took incase you don't believe me: http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/9052/applerippingoffcanadianwj8.jpg
Here's the American Apple Store and the Canadian Apple Store for comparison.
American prices:
Mac Pro starting price: $2499
4GB of memory: $699
Extra 500GB hard drive: $329
Canadian prices:
Mac Pro starting price: $2799
4GB of memory: $839
Extra 500GB hard drive: $395
New question. Why is Apple charging Canadians more when our dollar is worth 5 cents more than the American dollar? -

Re:because people want the easy way
And that is why it SUCKS to be the person in charge of security for a domain. Make the security too harsh and the users complain (with good reason) that they can't get anything done. Make things too lax, and you turn into an alcoholic schitzophrenic who does nothing but sit at home in the dark murmering about exploits and unencrypted telnet sessions that your entire company runs on, and how even the software providers out in north carolina won't implement SSL into their software because all of their programmers are from the 1970s even the guy who supposedly "knows-linux" and wants to run gentoo on the soekris box that you sent them to use as a firewall; you sit there alone, and paranoid that some russian script kid, or 14 year old digg user wanna-be l33t-sausage hack-zore is gonna come accross a username/pass and burn your precious servers to the ground!
The relation between beer/security can most properly be illustrated by this graph -

As an anecdote; recently, the person with the least technical skill and knowledge I know (and that says quite a lot), told me she bought a new computer with XP on it because she heard Vista "has to many flaws". I'm pretty sure that if even she knows, everyone in the country knows. I'm pretty sure we didn't have this when XP came out. -
Since you have no idea what your talking about..
And still got modded up (typical slashdot antics)..

Re:Colors sure look different...
but I went ahead and verified with a pixel color id program (ColorPix) that they are the same color
Indeed they are, but for me at least, this illusion didn't seem as "abrupt" as others do when it's shown that the perception is false. One that always stands out to me is this one (many have probably seen it):
Without thinking too much, look at the colors of the A and B squares in this well-known image.
Now, here's an animation I just made showing the truth. That's a solid, unchanging color going from A to B.
I think this a much more drastic difference than the one in TFS, but of course YMMV :) -
