Re:wanna see it
I thought Hayden C acted decently in Shattered Glass, a film about the New Republic's Stephen Glass. He played a wuss with various emotional problem in it, but IMHO, he did a pretty good job of it. It wasn't like when I saw Garden State, when I said to myself "huh, who knew she could act?" at the end, but it was pretty good.

Like anyone cares
Lucas is just a washed up hack, evident in his 2films that he keeps rehashing, look at his portfolio, it reads like a TV series, he seems to of done 3 ideas and just keeps dragging them out, year after year
sorry but iam not keeping my hopes up for the next film, if its anything like the last films he has done it will be full of wooden actors, poor script and awful directing -
quite OT: OCP
What is the OPC? The company who made robocop?
That would be Omni Consumer Product, or OCP. Of course "Robocop" is not the first movie to imagine a single company taking over the market, IIRC there was Central {Services, Banking,...} in "Brazil". -
Re:Well, they've still got this
Just keep in mind that I didn't make it up.

Mac Mini.
several times the size of a Mac Mini, the SN25P is an entirely different breed of small form factor system

Old news
There was a documentary released twenty-two years ago about the trying to find a solution for Tic-Tac-Toe. Information can be found here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086567/ -
The ongoing discussion reminds me of a movie
Has anyone seen the movie Fallen?
-
Re:Isn't Go solveable? Now, we all learned as kids that tic-tac-toe (or Naughts and Crosses if you prefer) is closed or solved or whatever the right term is... whoever goes first always wins, so long as they go right in the middle.
Didn't you learn anything from WarGames?

Awesome, though. I can't wait for us to terraform Mars, and start our new civilization there.
Terraforming should be a breeze, all we have to do is start the reactor that aliens left for us.

Re:12 months for some
KOTOR2 would have been so much better if they'd spent, say, another four or five months on it.
I haven't finished KOTOR2 yet, but so far I'm finding it to be one of the best games I've played in a long time, probably since KOTOR1. (But yes, I've heard that the ending sucketh, and I've seen the way-cool (but dark) dialog options that are still in the game but aren't actually used anymore.)Star Wars has made a number of good games. (And then there's Force Commander.) Star Trek is usually the example brought up when one wants to talk about stinkers, but there's a few winners there too -- Starfleet Command, Bridge Commander, Elite Forces.
Perhaps the difference there is that the ST and SW games are generally not tied to the release of a specific movie (though there were SW games tied to the release of episode 1 and 2, but these are the exception rather than the rule.) Perhaps they should stop making games to go with movies and instead make them to go with franchises (like SW and ST), so they have the time they need to make the game, and don't need to rush it out the door.
Of course, I can only think of a few franchises where they've made 6+ movies. I guess by my reasoning, they should make a Friday the 13th game now? (too late!) Police Academy? Nightmare on Elm Street? Revenge of the Nerds is getting close

Re:Dave Foley
There's quite a difference between David R. Foley and Dave Foley.
The former is the CEO of a arcade-emulator manufacturer, as well as being quite the jerk. The latter is a canadian comedian. -
Re:David R Foley
Seriously. I liked him better when he was just a funny little Canadian guy who had a penchant for women's clothing.
-
Re:Wait a second
No, that's Earth girls.
-
Say it ain't so!!!David Foley? And here, I just thought he was a nice guy member of the greatest comedy troup ever: The Kids in the Hall and star of News Radio. I guess he really is a bastard after all?
;P

That's what I thought. Especially when I read the name of the guy here. I was thinking of "The kids in the hall" when I read that.

Re:Wait a minute...
Most notable, web form generation from meta data (in a well designed way) that can generate forms for passage through XML middleware (like biztalk and some java stuff out there)
I don't know about you, but over the last ten years the term "middleware" has had one reasonable translation, brought to us by both The Holy Grail and the Teletubbies:
Run away! Run awaaaay! What a Teletubby says when they want to get away from something or some event in Teletubby-land. As an actual object, middleware has survived when nobody really thinks it's middleware. For instance, Apache looks an awful lot like an Object Request Broker, complete with the usual maze of activation policies, but it's low-brow enough that almost everybody has ignored this. -

Re:Price PointBlockbuster does not actually censor the films themselves, but they are a powerful player and have exerted their influence in order to get directors to release "R" version of certain films rather than the "NC-17" unedited cut.
However, I think you are wrong about Rogers. The Rogers Video on Lonsdale in North Vancouver has an adult video room with full fledged porn
I also know a local Blockbuster franchise store that stocks the unrated version of Requiem for a Dream. Apparently, only the corporate owned/operated Blockbuster stores (about 82%) have the "no worse than R" policy.
I've never heard of Rogers Video, but I suspect they also have different policies for corporate stores and franchise stores.

Re:I see it!
For those who don't get it, that's a reference to the movie Mallrats, where a minor character spends an entire day trying to find the hidden image of a sailboat, getting more and more frusturated as small childern and other people see it almost instantly.
It's also a Jay and Silent BoB movie ;) -

Re:What?Wikipedia is quite useful, it will also tell you such important facts like how Professor Baron-Cohen in the article is none other than the first-cousin of Ali G (Sacha Baron-Cohen).
I can imagine the two...
Ali: What you're sayin' is like.. They is smart, 'cos they got brain damage?
Simon: Well, not quite. A savant isn't quite what we usually mean by..
Ali: An' drugs? Theys give ya brain damage?
Simon: Yes, they can..
Ali: So if me was to like, drop a pile of E, I could, like, do maths and stuff?
Simon: Well, I wouldn't..
Ali: RESPECT!! -

Most movies at Cannes suck
But isn't Cannes supposed to be for good movies?
Actually, no.
I was at the festival in 2002 (may 15-26). AFAIR there were at least 40 cinemas showing movies all the day (starting around 9 in the morning). The more important movies are shown several times, but many only about twice.
Basically, you can just go and rent a cinema at Cannes, and show your movie. Not surprisingly, most films you see at Cannes just suck. (Of course, the rent is horribly expensive.)
However, you can't just go to Cannes with your movie and win any price (except maybe the "price of the audience"). There's a jury that selects movies for the competition. This alone already is a lot of honor, even if your don't end up winning a palm. The numberwas rather small (about 30). Still, it's no guarantee for quality (for example, Demonlover and Murder by Numbers were in the selection for 2002)
Most of the other films compeet on the "market", which is a big hall with lots of booths were film makers try to convince producers/investors/video store managers/... to license/buy/finance/... their movie. This features a lot of films that later go "dvd/video only", including ramboesque slaughterings, unfunny comedies, dumb chick flicks - you name it. Many of the movies a saw never made it to the cinemas.
BTW, I recall that Episode 2 had its Euro-premiere at Cannes 2002. Of course, I didn't watch it.

Dreamworks film: "The Terminal" (Spielberg, Hanks)He does not lack for money -- Dreamworks paid him a rumored $250,000 for the rights to his story.
For those that don't follow Hollywood movies, the Dreamworks movie loosely based on Nasseri is "The Terminal" starring Tom Hanks as the Nasseri-like hero. Of course, Paris is replaced by New York and Hanks's Bulgarian-speaking character stays for less than a year.

A corporation isn't a personAnd if in any case someone want to believe that a corporation have a personality I will then suggest to watch this movie : "The Corporation".
"...One central theme of the documentary is an attempt to assess the "personality" of the corporate "person" by using diagnostic criteria like the DSM-IV; Robert Hare, a University of British Columbia Psychology Professor and FBI consultant, compares the modern, profit-driven corporation to that of a clinically diagnosed psychopath..."
By the way I am not a communist hippy but a proud owner of two company's and think that honesty and business can go together.
Depending who take responsibility for the actions of the corporation some companies act better than others, the problem with public companies is that nobody wants to take responsibility for their negatives actions. Stockholders want no responsibility but profit and CEO's claim they have to obey to stockholders.

EFF rips off Bambi Meets Godzilla
The Endangered Gizmos video on the EFF home page appears to have an exact copy of the image of Godzilla's foot from the classic "Bambi Meets Godzilla" (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064064/.) Doesn't the EFF respected intellectual property rights? And don't they know that Godzilla is not classified as a dinosaur?

Asymmetric Warfare & Dirty BombsI believe the much more prevalent fear in the intelligence community is the fear of a dirty bomb that would spread radioactive material over a large area. The technological knowhow needed is minimal and logistics required is simple. Hence the yellowcake story a few years ago.
Keep in mind that when you think of terrorism you are talking a form a asymmetric warefare with the primary goal of causing fear. So terrorists often use low tech means to get as many people as possible fearful.
The press and hollywood are horrible on this issue. From the current series of 24 that misinfoms about turning all the nation's nuclear power stations into atomic bombs with a mythical bloackbox "Dobson device". Movies like True Lies that make it look like an Joe Shmo can hijack a train, grab a nuke bobmb and use it.
- So, Nuclear Power Nuclear Bomb
- Terrorists would rather kill civilians
- Even if you could manage to steal an ICBM very few people in the world could figure out what to do with it.
Hoooookay?

As a Brtitsh ex pat...
As a Brtitsh ex pat I must be contributing to that statistic somewhat. I'm really missing BBC, and Channel 4, Phoenix Nights, Father Ted, and a load of good documentories and stuff. Thanks to BitTorrent, and a DIVX campatible DVD player (i recommend one of those), I am getting my fix again. (Check out "The Power Of Nightmares, The Rise Of The Politics Of Fear" fro example, I don't think this will be aired in the US in a hurry...)
I'd be more than happy to pay the BBC licence fee, and watch UK-TV legally here in Sweden, but it's not possible. I can't get it through my cable provider, or over the net.
Channel 4 have a broadband service you can subscribe to, unfortunatly it's not available outside the UK.
The only way to get access to most Brittish TV is via BitTorrent, and the networks can't be loosing too much revenue as they are not provising a service to compete with the illegal downloads. I hope they get their act together soon, I'd much prefer to pay and see the stuff when it's aired.
As for UK leading the world for downloads, what do you expect US TV is crap! We produced this and this, you guys produced this and this.

Re:I'm pissed.
What the FUCK is wrong with this country?
Perhaps
Michael Moore's 'Bowling for Columbine' can give us some hints about what's wrong with it. There was an interview with Marylin Manson.
Call it Marlylin Manson, GTA, etc. (I'm not saying they're not bad... they're indeed a bad influence, IMHO). If parents don't educate their children, the media will.
Yeah, nice education, indeed. -
And the recent NY gunman...
seems to be "fascinated" by the Columbine tragedy. Will Michael Moore be blamed?
