Re:Leftists will bash Trump for this
The left considers violence wrong except in very specific circumstances.
Of course (Vol. I)!
From John Hawkins
1) "Michele (Bachmann), slit your wrist. Go ahead... or, do us all a better thing [sic]. Move that knife up about two feet. Start right at the collarbone." -- Montel Williams
2) “F*ck that dude. I’ll smack that f*cker’s comb-over right off his f*cking scalp. Like, for real, if I met Donald Trump, I’d punch him in his f*cking face. And that’s not a joke. Even if he did become president — watch out, Donald Trump, because I will punch you in your f*cking face if I ever meet you. Secret Service had better just f*cking be on it. Don’t let me anywhere within a block.”– Rapper Everlast on Donald Trump
3) “I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow.I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.” — Bill Maher
4) “I know how the ‘tea party’ people feel, the anger, venom and bile that many of them showed during the recent House vote on health-care reform. 5) “F*** God D*mned Joe the God D*mned Motherf*cking plumber! I want Motherf*cking Joe the plumber dead.” — Liberal talk show host Charles Karel Bouley on the air.

Re:Not blind - I can see what you are doing
You know what the difference between today and the 1980's were? That the attack in San Bernardino and Pulse Nightclub both could have been stopped. What happened?
Omar got reported, and yet the authorities ended up doing nothing.
But then, the same goes for others.
I suppose we could live in the Draconian Police State you want, but I suspect you'd hate that.
And how about more in the UK, with those girls raped and being sold as sex slaves(just a fyi it's happening in the US too).
Yes, yes, West Texas is full of it.
And the muslims trying to take over schools to turn them into extremist breeding grounds(see trojan horse scandal).
No, that's Christians.
Well what do you know? In those dozens of cases it was all the same thing too.
I think we've got a problem. You know what it is? People are too politically correct and afraid of being labeled racist/islamophobe/etc.
Nope, it's the other way around. People are obsessively racist, islamophobic, and otherwise unable to see the problems are all over.
So afraid that they'll turn a blind eye to people preparing to carry out a terrorist attack. Until that changes this isn't going to change either. We could, avoid the whole "implement internet agenda thing." The answer is in this paragraph. And you know as well as I do that the left has a very long history the last decade of going after people for daring to say "that muslim looks like they're going to blow people up."
Yeah, that's because you say it so much, then you attack some Sikhs.
After all, that's what happened in Rotterdam and why 1000+ girls were raped and used as sex toys after all....for over a decade.
Clean your own closet first.
You don't really care though, that's why you won't even bat an eye at the stuff in your own backyard.
You'll do nothing but scream and pout in a tantrum.
Apparently you are, not only that you're an idiot to boot. The "line that I'm pushing" is people are afraid of doing something and being labeled racist for doing it.
To make it very simple for you: They're willing to look the other way because of fear, and they're willing to look so hard in the other direction that people are dying because of it.
Yes, the FBI is unable to investigate right-wing terrorism because of that attitude.

Re:How can you tell me there's global warming?
Global warming, the heating of the atmosphere by increased amounts of industrial gases, is now accepted as a reality by the international community. Average temperatures in Britain were nearly 0.6C higher in the Nineties than in 1960-90, and it is estimated that they will increase by 0.2C every decade over the coming century. Eight of the 10 hottest years on record occurred in the Nineties.
However, the warming is so far manifesting itself more in winters which are less cold than in much hotter summers. According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”.
“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.

Re:News about a dumb, selfish bitch. Prob a slut t
Where are you getting this world view of liberals running around rampant calling conservative women sluts inbetween feminist protests?
Where indeed?
Why It's Not Smart to Call Women Conservatives 'Whores'
When Alan Grayson called a female corporate lobbyist a "K-Street whore" -- and was attacked as crude and sexist at the same time that he was lauded as gutsy and honest -- he played a role in a familiar script: hero of the left (MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher) attacks female villain (Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin) using sexist language. Progressive feminists soul-search about liberal misogyny. Mainstream media talk about sexism for 5 seconds. Then the media move on, and no one learns a thing. Repeat.
It happened again just two weeks ago, when Olbermann called Malkin a "big mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick on it" during the "Worst Person in the World" segment of Countdown. The creepily fleshy insult followed Olbermann's rendition of Malkin's e-mails....
So there's obvious problem No. 1 with leftist firebrands dipping into sexist imagery and language to bash conservative women: nothing's more fun than highlighting the hypocrisy of your opponents.
If I had a dollar for every time libs have called me a "Manila whore" and "Subic Bay bar girl," Iâ(TM)d be able to pay for a ticket to a Hollywood-for-Obama fundraiser. To the HuffPo left, whore is my middle name.
Self-serving opponents argue that such attacks do not represent "respectable," "mainstream" liberal opinion about their conservative female counterparts. But it was feminist godmother Gloria Steinem who called Texas Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison a "female impersonator." It was NOW leader Patricia Ireland who commanded her flock to only vote for "authentic" female political candidates. It was Al Gore consultant Naomi Wolf who accused the late Jeane Kirkpatrick of being "uninflected by the experiences of the female body."
It was Matt Taibbi, now of Rolling Stone magazine, who mocked my early championing of the tea party movement by jibing: "Now when I read her stuff, I imagine her narrating her text, book-on-tape style, with a big, hairy set of (redacted) in her mouth. It vastly improves her prose."
It was Keith Olbermann, then at MSNBC and now at Al Goreâ(TM)s Current TV, who wrote on Twitter that columnist S.E. Cupp was "a perfect demonstration of the necessity of the work Planned Parenthood does" and who called me a "mashed up bag of meat with lipstick on it." He stands by those remarks. Olbermann has been a special guest at the White House.
Some of us have not forgotten when liberal Wisconsin radio host John "Sly" Sylvester outrageously accused GOP Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch of performing "fellatio on all the talk-show hosts in Milwaukee" and sneered that she had "pulled a train" (a crude phrase for gang sex). (Earlier, he called former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice a "black trophy" and "Aunt Jemima.")
Or when MSNBC misogynist Ed Schultz called talk show host Laura Ingraham a "talk slut" for criticizing Obamaâ(TM)s petty beer summit. Or when Playboy published a list of the top 10 conservative women who deserved to be "hate-f**ked." The article, which was promoted by Anne Schroeder Mullins at Politico.com, included Ingraham, "The View's" Elisabeth Hasselbeck, former Bush spokeswoman Dana Perino, GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann and others. Yours truly topped the list with the following description: a "highly f**kable Filipina" and âoea regular on Fox News, where her tight body and get-off-my-lawn stare just scream, 'Do me!'"
And then thereâ(TM)s the leftâ(TM)s war on Sarah Palin, which would require an entire national forest of trees to publish.
You've got me curious as to how it is that you miss this kind of stuff?

Re:Can a bitcoin advocate explain....
My point is that you *don't* hear about those things as often as you do with bitcoin, and I was wondering why.
You probably do, but you simply don't pay attention. (Those examples are just from the top of a random Google search.) A bureaucrat takes cash bribe for a favor
... stop the presses! On top of that, I would think that a large number of cash transactions are successful, and invisible to the government. (All drugs are sold and resold for cash, modulo the extinct Silk Road.) The proceeds are then carefully and accurately laundered through a network of businesses; and those operations are not ran by fools, like in this case. The underground economy is alive and well, and its size far exceeds the entire supply of BTC in the world.

Re:Speculation will never go down
he can probably transfer the money to separate exchanges and no one is the wiser that $BIG_CORP just sent him $100K.
The USD works much better: the $bigCorp simply gives him a briefcase that is full of cash. Here is an example. The advantage is that the cash is untraceable. Say, the politician got 100 BTC. How can he exchange them to USD without going through regular banks? I guess he could go to Japan and bring cash from there... which he can't do without declaring the money. A briefcase fixes this problem easily. A $bigCorp can always obtain cash within the country, and the transfer is not recorded on the Internet.

Re:Competition, not regulationAll of these problems you describe are a result of exactly that: of regulation being used instead of competition:
- You aren't entirely correct here: in addition to deductibles, there are also co-pays — each doctor visit does cost something, which creates some incentive not go there for overly whimsical reasons. But insurance companies aren't allowed — by regulation — to charge unhealthy people (such as smokers over overeaters) more...
- Hospitals do get away with this, because — as I pointed out from the beginning — the consumers of their care are not the same entities paying for it. I do see, that my "medical grade" foo should not cost so much, but — because it is not me paying for it — I'm neither going to make an issue of it, nor pick a different hospital because of it.
- Same reason — payers are distinct from consumers.
- Insurance companies are in it to make a profit. The only thing that would keep them from using those contracts you complain about is competition from other insurance companies.
- Because government-guaranteed loans pay for education, medical schools have no incentive to curtail the costs of education. All education — not just medical schools... With doctors the problem is further compounded by the government-maintained monopoly — unlike for foreign programmers or engineers, it is practically impossible for foreign-educated doctors to get licensed in the US. I know several, who tried (very hard) with only one succeeding — and only after taking several years of that same, through-the-nose expensive medical school education here.
The majority of bankruptcies in the United States are for medical reasons, and the majority of *those* are by people who had health insurance at the time they got sick.
That may well be true, and the only way to fight the problem is by increasing competition — among insurers, doctors, medical schools, and hospitals. But the noisiest proponents of "change" are dead-set on the exact opposite course. Not only aren't foreign insurers allowed to sell policies to Americans, for example, even American companies aren't allowed to compete across state lines.
Removing the tax-incentive for employers to pay for the employees' "health-plans" is another much-needed step — it would make insurance companies sell directly to consumers of care, rather than to their employers. McCain was proposing just that in 2008, but was ridiculed and mocked for his efforts. And thus the peculiar tie-in between employment and health-insurance remains.
It is as if making things worse is useful for somebody... Given the drive towards "single-payer" — which would give our humble rulers even more control over our lives (to an extent, NSA can't even dream about) — I think, I know, who wants to make things so bad, the disastrous "single-payer" monopoly will begin to look appealing to the sufficiently large number of voters...

Looks like more information is needed:
White House Adviser Van Jones Resigns Amid Controversy Over Past Activism
White House environmental adviser Van Jones resigned late Saturday after a simmering controversy over his past statements and activism erupted into calls for his ouster from Republican leaders on Friday....
Jones's position did not require Senate confirmation, so he avoided the kind of vetting Cabinet officials were subjected to. In addition, as an adviser to the Council on Environmental Quality, rather than to Obama directly, his past was not reviewed to the same degree as the more senior "assistants to the president" and other top advisers inside the West Wing.....
Jones, who joined the administration in March as special adviser for green jobs at the CEQ, had issued two public apologies in recent days, one for signing a petition in 2004 from the group 911Truth.org that questioned whether Bush administration officials "may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war" and the other for using a crude term to describe Republicans in a speech he gave before joining the administration.
His one-time involvement with the Bay Area radical group Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), which had Marxist roots, had also become an issue. And on Saturday his advocacy on behalf of death-row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was convicted of shooting a Philadelphia police officer in 1981, threatened to develop into a fresh point of controversy.

An honest mistake or a common theme?
This is not the first time that the Democrats have been caught with their pants down with blunders like this. Back in 2006, they used an image of a Canadian Veteran when they were supposedly honouring American veterans. See:
http://michellemalkin.com/2006/10/07/dnc-supports-vetsbut-from-which-country/
A significant portions of delegates at the recent DNC apparently hate god and Israel too. There was an audible "boo" when either were mentioned. What's next? Book burning?

Re:Barcoding the Ballots.
Actually, given the US's history, the proper recourse should be...
Let's turn this around. How would the country of origin handle illegal immigration? Let's take a close neighbor, Mexico, it's not like they would they spend $100 million flying people back.
America lets in more people than any other country in the world combined. Borders need to be enforced and laws applied evenly, to everyone. America granted amnesty to everyone who entered the country before, see Regan's Reform and Control Act of 1986. 35+ million people have immigrated since 1965. That's more than Canada's entire population which is currently estimated at 34 million. Imagine if 10% of your population wasn't there legally, California is near the same size population wise as Canada but has a larger economy.
I don't think it's right if you get caught committing a crime that it should be rewarded. You're advocating granting citizenship (or a greencard) ahead of anyone who is 'on the waiting list' who's following the rules? The only people who like waiting seem to be the Star Wars / Trek / LotR fans....Paying taxes, of course, are optional as an American, as it is considered patriotic not to pay them, or 'in your best interests' to pay them; the choice is yours.
Most other countries require you to be a productive member of society. If you don't have any money, any education, or anything to really offer, most countries won't let you in. Why is that?

I'm pissed off about this. Only 11 planes for the entire US of A?
The fleet was already cut too much under Bush, but then the Obama administration chopped it way back. It is baffling.

Re:Bush led in pre-election polls in OhioSorry, they were still finding unopened ballots in April 2005. It wasn't just '3 days' of ballot finding. Ballots "found" as late as December 17 - 6 weeks after the election - and still included in the final tally. And it was quite interesting that all of the found ballots were from King County, and - like you said - broke a lot heavier for Gregoire than the county in general.
.
You don't need e-Voting to steal elections - just "find" new ballots as needed. And when in doubt (remember the infamous write-in for Chris Rossi that was counted as a vote for Christine Gregoire over Dino Rossi?) just decide it the way you want... -
Re:No it's not just you..
What would happen if there were, just for arguments sake, dissident Americans........ Pause..
For the sake of argument? You don't think there are people engaged in dissent? Really? Well, there are dissenters of many flavors, from the fringe to more main stream.
And guess what? They have the same option as everybody else - they go into the voting booth and vote for the party of their choice, just like the rest of America. If they don't like the local laws, they can try to change them or move. (Massachusetts has state run health care, California is engaging in an interesting physics experiment - can financial implosions lead to the formation of a black hole, Texas is generating a disproportionate share of jobs, for a few possible destinations. Every state has its unique charms.)
In the meantime, they publish magazine articles, books and web sites, radio, as well as make use of other media.
If they engage in terrorism that kills people, they get hunted down like dogs, until they get friends.
Really, is this news to you? You probably should have paused earlier.

Re:Good-by financial markets????
- They have been shooting protesters, do they need to rape them too?
No, but they could open fire on mass demonstrations, or other means of crushing dissent.
Hama 1982 – The Syrian massacre you never heard about
In 1982 the Syrian government killed 30,000 – 40,000 of its own citizens. Assad leveled an entire city with an air bombardment followed by artillery and tank fire. Why? They were anti Baath party, and apparently in 1982 in Syria that was a death sentence“The residents of a Syrian city named Hama had been more persistent in their criticisms of the dictator than other towns. For that reason,
Hafez Assad decided that Hama would be the staging point of the example he was to make to the Syrian people. In the twilight hours of February the 2nd, 1982, the city of Hama was awakened by loud explosions. The Syrian air force had begun to drop their bombs from the dark sky.
The initial bombing run cost the city few casualties. It's main purpose had been to disable the roads so that no-one could escape. Earlier in the night, Syrian tanks and artillery systems had surrounded Hama. With the conclusion of the air bombing run, the tanks and artillery began their relentless shelling of the town.
The cost in human lives was severe. As homes crumbled upon their living occupants and the smell of charred skin filled the streets, a few residents managed to escape the shelling and started to flee. They were met by the Syrian army which had surrounded the city
... they were all shot dead.Hours of shelling had turned Hama into rubble. The tanks and artillery had done all that they could. The next wave of attacks came in the form of Syrian soldiers. They quickly converged onto the town killing anything that would move. Groups of soldiers would round up men, women, and children only to shoot them in the back of the head. Many other soldiers would invade homes with the orders to kill all inhabitants.
....The final attack on Hama was the most gruesome. To make sure that no person was left alive in the rubble and buildings, the Syrian army brought in poison gas generators. Cyanide gas filled the air of Hama. Bulldozers were later used to turn the city into a giant flat area.
The Syrian government death count was place at around 20,000 people dead
... but the Syrian Human Rights Committee estimates it to be much higher, at somewhere between 30,000 to 40,000 civilians’ dead or missing”So, yes, it can get a lot worse without rape.
That is what a genuinely brutal dictatorship looks like. Sadly, too many divert their attention and misdirect their anger at let's pretend "dictators" instead of the real thing.
Of course for mass death, it's hard to beat Mao.
Mao: The Unknown Story
"Mao Tse-tung, who for decades held absolute power over the lives of one-quarter of the world's population, was responsible for well over 70 million deaths in peacetime, more than any other twentieth century leader." Chang and Halliday claim that he was willing for half of China to die to achieve military-nuclear superpowerdom. Estimates of the numbers of deaths during this period vary, though Chang and Halliday's estimate is one of the highest. Sinologist Stuart Schram, in a review of the book, noted that "the exact figure... has been estimated by well-informed writers at between 40 and 70 million". -

Perhaps if you could give us a list of all that "violence coming from the left" in the US that is somehow being cleverly concealed by all the media of the world (must be some kind of a leftist conspiracy involving all those pinko-commie corporate CEOs!) it would help your points to attain some modicum of credibility. Unless your post was meant to be some very subtle satire, that is.
- It was not the fear of conservative violence that caused Ann Coulter's speech to be cancelled this week.
- It was a liberal who bit the finger off a man who disagreed with him on healthcare.
- It was Obama-loving Amy Bishop who took a gun to work and murdered co-workers.
- Joseph Stack flew his plane into the IRS building after writing an anti-conservative manifesto.
- It was liberals who destroyed AM radio towers outside of Seattle.
- It's liberals who burn down Hummer dealerships.
- It was progressive SEIU union thugs who beat a black conservative man who spoke his mind.
- It's doubtful that a conservative fired shots into a GOP campaign headquarters.
- In fact, Democrats have no monopoly on having their offices vandalized.
- Don't forget it was Obama's friend Bill Ayers who used terrorism as a tool for political change. SDS is still radical, with arrests in 2007 and the storming of the CATO Institute in July 2008.
- It was a liberal who was sentenced to two years for bringing bombs and riot shields to the Republican National Convention in 2008.
- It was a liberal who threatened to kill a government informant who infiltrated her Austin-based group that planned to bomb the RNC.
- It was liberals who assaulted police in Berkeley.

I could literally go on and on, but let's try to have some perspective here. Violence is a product of the fringe, on either side, and it's sickening to try to use it for political advantage. Those who commit violence in the name of politics deserve political change no more than they deserve leniency in sentencing. Violence furthers no cause. The only call to action that violence has ever moti

The Rights View of Net Neutrality
Here's a sampling of articles from conservatives / libertarians on net neutrality:

http://www.freetoassemble.com/blog/cincinnatuschili/net-neutrality-comcast-vs-level-3-communications
A few points:
1) Not all conservatives / libertarians oppose net neutrality
2) Most of these writers have a pretty good understanding of the issue
3) Several who oppose it do it on free market principles
4) There is a legitimate distrust of the FCC - some view the net neutrality issue as being used as an excuse for an FCC power grab -
Re:Yes...this will end well
Mmhmm. How about this.... http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/24336 and this... http://michellemalkin.com/2009/12/07/acorn-clears-itself-of-wrongdoing/ or this from CNN no less... http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/22/voter.fraud/
Even if you still insist that all of those articles are correct, I insist that the very existance of an organization like ACORN is a misappropriation of taxpayers dollars. An organization like that should be completely funded by donations and fundraising. That they got millions of dollars every year makes me sick. To top it off, they didn't even HELP very many people. If you cannot afford a home then the you cannot afford a home. You can take out a loan but you will just default on it later and be evicted. -
Re: Millions (?) Already Have
That was just the first article that came up in google. Numbers estimates vary from source to source.
Here's a better source, with pictures, that talks about the numbers discrepancies. (Short version: the park service estimated 1.2 million).

Re:Internet Stupidity Test
Okay, have it your way, but I'm making factual claims and offering evidence for them, while you're making subjective assertions and offering no evidence for them.
There are effective ways to point out lies and distortions in a discussion, but issuing bare accusations isn't one of them. You're entitled to your opinion -- even if I happen to think yours is the more evil and destructive of our two philosophies -- but you're playing with an alternate set of facts from the actual ones.
Quoting this destructive sociopath defending himself on his own websites does not help your case one bit.
I didn't quote him, I offered links to evidence against your claims. But here, have some other evidence of Tea Party infiltration, and of zero-tolerance for racism:
Tea Party Express leader Mark Williams kicked out over 'Colored People' letter: Mark Williams, the flamethrower leading the battle against the Ground Zero mosque, was kicked out of the National Tea Party Federation Saturday for a racist blog post. But when he posted a satirical letter supposedly from "the Colored People" to President Lincoln praising slavery, that apparently crossed the line. [...] The federation, an umbrella organization that claims to represent 85 Tea Party groups, kicked out Williams' group when it wouldn't fire him. "We have expelled Tea Party Express and Mark Williams from the National Tea Party Federation because of the letter that he wrote," federation spokesman David Webb said on CBS's "Face the Nation." He called the letter - written after the NAACP called on Tea Party leaders to oust racists from their ranks - "clearly offensive."
Foes of tea party movement to infiltrate rallies: ALBANY, N.Y.--Opponents of the fiscally conservative tea party movement say they plan to infiltrate and dismantle the political group by trying to make its members appear to be racist, homophobic and moronic. [...] Levin says they want to exaggerate the group's least appealing qualities, further distance the tea party from mainstream America and damage the public's opinion of them.
The Crashers: They came, they saw, they failed: [Yes, it's a Michelle Malkin piece, but full of photographs of tea partiers using signs to denounce and ostracize extremists / infiltrators in their midst.] "Check out the Captain Obvious crasher getting called out for attempting to paint their peaceful protest as an incitement to violence and faking a vile sign."
As to your question...
There is no infiltration of the Teaz Party, those are the real views of real supporters who have never, as you claim, been denounced. In fact, if they were, it would be no problem for the Tea Party to do as the NAACP requested, and denounce the racists. Why won't they?
...again I ask, what racism? So far there's no evidence of it. You reiterate your claim and accuse me of lying and distortion, but you don't even mention a single occurrence that they should be denouncing, much less offer proof of any pattern of racism in the movement. Have you no sense of irony?

Convenient, as Spain is scrapping green program.
The green program in Spain (solar power, etc) costs more than the energy it produces.
The piggies will have to find some other government trough. So of course, off they go to Obama, where else!
For instance look at this article: http://michellemalkin.com/2009/04/13/spains-green-jobs-boondoggle/
IT claims that every green job "Every “green job” created with government money in Spain over the last eight years came at the cost of 2.2 regular jobs, and only one in 10 of the newly created green jobs became a permanent job, says a new study released this month. The study draws parallels with the green jobs programs of the Obama administration."

Re:Good article
If I were a paranoid man I would suspect that they're purposefully misspelling their signs at rallies.
They are purposefully misspelling their signs at rallies. Or rather, left-wing organizations are intentionally misspelling their signs at rallies in order to make it look like the tea party is doing it: link. -
Re:No one should have expected
I think you have a ways to go though before intimidation or especially violenc gets called up for use. I don't think we've quite reached that level.
Really?
Apparently you missed the "prop 8" debacle in California. Sunshine laws were used to create maps to the HOMES of people who donated to support prop 8.
That's not intimidation?
Or how about when Vandals sprayed anti-prop 8 graffiti on a church in San Fran?
That's not intimidation?
Or how about the tragic story of El Coyote restaurant? and what has happened to the elderly owner because she was following her beliefs. THAT IS NOT INTIMIDATION????
Or what happened to a group of Christians who were following their beliefs and went out, in kindness of spirit, to PRAY for the Gay community. They were surrounded by an angry mob, had DEATH THREATS hurled against them and were ASSAULTED. That is not Intimidation? That is not VIOLENCE?
Come on. Where have you been?
The implications could not be clearer; While supporters of traditional marriage use legal and ethical means to promote their agenda, supporters of gay marriage use illegal and unethical means the moment it appears that doing it the legal way isn't winning support. It was all over California during the prop 8 battle, and now it's going to start in WA. I guarantee.
P.S. To mods: Negative mod points do not equal "I disagree with you". If you disagree, have the courage to log in and post. You demand sunshine on votes and political support, it's only consistent to shed sunshine on your opinions. Show courage, be consistent.

Re:Why?
Maybe they had a tip of some home-grown terrorist action planned. Maybe they even stopped one. You don't know. Did you even try to ask?
I've been treading karma thin ice in this thread, but I'll tread some more. Yes. I do ask these questions. And yes, there was a concocted report that has seen some criticism, mostly from the conservative wing. I'm not from the conservative wing, but my inclination is that this report is a thinly veiled excuse for a DHS presence at the tea parties.
Also, the DHS was there and they were not secretive about it. I am not claiming any such secrecy or conspiracy. I am only claiming that the DHS was "apparently" (see my original post on this for usage of that word) dispatched for political intimidation--mild though it may be.
You may propose that they had some legitimate reason to be there that could not be handled by local police. I propose that a couple of cars cruising around is not my idea of (1) sufficient reinforcement, (2) proper use of Federal forces, (3) cognizant of the political undertones of such a presence.
Also, concerning (3) and our interpretation of Federal activities, I live by this rule: assume the worst.
-
Re:RIAA software
I can't seem to find it on DHS (probably because it's marked for official use only) but both Michele Malkin and Huffington Post have the document online. I highly doubt those two agreed to jointly release a faked version. Incidentally, here's a gem from some dude on Redstate in response to the bit about rejecting Federal authority in favor of state or local control:
Liberals, please note: that includes people who argue that individual states have the right to decriminalize marijuana, permit the sale of raw milk, allow assisted suicide, or recognize same-sex marriages. If you're one of those people, welcome to the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy: here's your accordion.

List of Obama appointees who've had to withdraw
For future reference, the list so far:
- Bill Richardson: grand jury investigation for influence peddling
- Tom Daschle: tax evasion
- Nancy Killefer: tax lien on home for failing to pay unemployment tax for household workers
- Judd Gregg: political differences over stimulus plan
- Annette Nazareth: reason unspecified
- Caroline Atkinson: reason for withdrawal not specified
- Sanjay Gupta: reason unspecified
People who haven't withdrawn, but have had major issues:
- Hilda Solis: husband has 16 years of tax liens against his business
- Tim Geithner: tax problems
- Gary Locke: potentially-suspicious fund-raising history
- Ron Kirk: failed to pay $10,000 in back taxes
Will Vivek Kundra be next on the list?

I am hugely disappointed Obama got elected
But I have always liked this idea of a community service requirement. I think countries with mandatory military service have a better sense of community, shared purpose, citizenship. I mean, come on people, compared to being held upside down and shaken every year for endless taxes, this isn't much to ask.
But of course, not everyone is cut out for the military, especially the US military. So I've always thought that the military could be but one of the types of service. I only hope President Obama remembers to include military service as one type of way to serve your country.
It is funny coming from Obama though, since his campaign themes seemed to be more about what your country can do for you. But I'll give the guy a chance in his first 100 days and not be a petulant baby, as the left did to Bush, right out the gate. -

Re:Maybe the media is what he wants.
Except she wasn't conducting business illegally, and I'm puzzled as to why you'd falsely post that as a justification for an immoral and illegal act. As the hacker Rubico apparently said:
Earlier it was just some prank to me, I really wanted to get something incriminating which I was sure there would be, just like all of you anon out there that you think there was some missed opportunity of glory, well there WAS NOTHING, I read everything, every little blackberry confirmation⦠all the pictures, and there was nothing
See, for example, here:
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/09/17/the-story-behind-the-palin-e-mail-hacking/Personally, I prefer Tina Fey to Sarah Palin, but the emails I saw reprinted, while to political colleagues, were the kind that would be illegal (at least at the federal level) to send using government email accounts. For instance, she talked about her Lt-Governor's election campaign. Doing that kind of business on state accounts is a no-no.
But even if all that were not true, you're saying it's just fine to hack into someone's personal email account because you suspect they are guilty of something. So it's fine for the police to do that to you? You must love the Patriot Act and think it doesn't go remotely far enough.
Call that 1984.
Even if Palin had improperly conducted state business on yahoo (which would be stupid and illegal), hacking her email account is still immoral and illegal. I'm surprised that many people who normally are pro-freedom turn out to have very situational ethics when it comes to people they regard as political enemies. As others have said in this thread, a guy called Richard Nixon seemed to think that way.

Re:Posting near the top....
There's a posting here from someone that observed the entire episode:
The story behind the Palin e-mail hacking
Pre-emptive warning: it's a partisan blog, but the explanation is quoted in full.
Short version:
- After Palin's email addresses were publicized, the account was locked by all the people trying to login.
- Someone went through the password recovery dialog and was able to guess answer "Where did you meet your spouse?".
- He looked through all the emails, was disappointed that he couldn't find anything incriminating.
- Announced it on
/b/ - Someone else reading
/b/ changed the password and notified a friend of Palin. - The account has since been deleted.
The original cracker attributed his
/b/ posting to another yahoo.com address. He claims to have done all this through a single proxy, but admits that he is a bit scared of the FBI at the moment.malkin is hardly to be believed for anything is one looks at her history
-
Re:The crossed the line this time
Apparently the hacker, in his own words, didn't actually find anything interesting. Nor did they download the emails before handing off the password to the account to
/b/tards. Amateur hour on the internet. -

Re:Weird....there are TWO FA's..
Actually, urine can be lethal now-a-days. Urine can contain AIDS or Herpes both of which are not curable. Considering that the next potential President and Vice-President of the United States were in the area at any given moment. It's stupid to have these things around. While the objects may be legal, it's what you intend to do with them that counts--otherwise you'd have to wait for someone to try and murder someone before they arrest someone. Other stories on the internet say that these groups had been infiltrated by informants. I know this little fact may have been overlooked by those of you who are, shall we say, overly zealous to say Bush and, the evil Republicans, are trying to take away you rights. In fact the ones taking away you rights would be the Democrats. The current issue, the freedom of speech. The Democrats want to reinstate the fairness doctrine because all their attempts to create their own talk radio media outlets have fail, so they want to silence conservative talk radio and Christian radio. Take Barak Obama, if you mention his record of supporting infantacide (the only Democrat to do that in the Illinois Legislature), he wines and says it's off limits and unfair. In fact, Barak Obama is really scary in civil rights if you happen to disagree with him and/or point of his record,. Obama's thugs have tried to intimidate media outlets that even just interview people who are trying to point out Obama's history. They are now trying to get the Justice Department to look into it now. This will get even scarier if he becomes President. Think dictatorship squelching the voices of those who disagree...especially those with facts. I am just wondering what Obama will try next. You people are scared of legitimate police action, but you ignore the guy with the knife, who you call friend, that's trying to kill you. An Obama presidency will be a scary one. Obama has more skeletons in his closet than the Kennedy's do, and it appears he will do anything to keep people ignorant of them.
