2TB isn't a huge number anymore for a server, my home gaming machine has 1TB. Remember these are the servers previously owned by MP3.com
Regardless of how many T1 lines, the school also likely pays for traffic on those lines, additionl traffic = additional bandwidth costs.
Also PenState has their own server on campus, for those users at the school they can connect to Napster and do a netstat/a to see the following connection:
dloadx.napster.psu.edu
Downloading from Napster doesn't count against the students internet bandwidth for this reason. This is a good thing since they get a measely 1.5gb a week. -

JewPranks.com on Black History Month
JewPranks.com does not recognize nigger history month. It is the decision of the JewPranks.com councel that from this day forth, nigger history month will be become Goatse.cx month.
http://www.petitiononline.com/Goatse/ -
Anybody else notice diminishing NASATV coverage?I started a petition a week or so ago to suggest to NASA that they might supplement their coverage of the MER missions with additional live JPL Mission Control feeds.
If you're interested in reading the petition and possibly signing it, please see:

JewPranks.com owns all you niggers!
Save goatse.cx or die!

JewPranks.com Offers Truce To GNAA
JewPranks.com would like to put aside all differences and concentrate on a joint effort to
save goatse.cx. We fully support the goatse man and his ass tearing efforts. It is a
travesty I will not be able to show my children the goatse man when they come of age. The
goatse man has touched all of our lives in one way or another and this tradition should be
continued for all time. No one should be denied the goatse experience.
Save goatse.cx. Do it for the children. Do it for your loved ones. Do it for yourself.

Just ordered mine
And I resent the hell out of the fact that interplay is selling me back my favorate game, while refusing to make the follow up, Freespace 3. Oh, sure there is a petition but this is interplay were talking about here, they canceled fallout 3 and disbanded Black Isle which was still producing incredible games. Volition wants to make FS3 but Interplay holds the copyright. So yeah, I purchaced this, but I gave them a one out of ten on there feedback from, because Interplay has done some absolutly stupid, dumbass stuff over the past 5 years.

Re:PowerPC not yetPPC people who actually run Linux, are gamers. My advice which you probably don't want to hear anyway is to buy a console or an x86 PC.
Well maybe, if you consider Mac OS X a game
;-)Seriously, I think you're way off. On ATI-equipped Macs, Mac-on-Linux is a great way to have both OS X and Linux available, so you can run those not so few applications that haven't yet been compiled natively -- without rebooting, and not so incidentally, get good access to HFS+ from ext2 and vice versa. But no dice on the 12" Powerbook, thanks to nVidia not compiling their drivers for the PowerPC.
Why?
Until they do, or until the tables are turned with Linux-on-Mac, we can't do this because essential laptop functions like sleep, video acceleration and dual display are poorly supported... I encourage people to bring up the issue at every opportunity with Apple, with nVidia, and maybe here.
-
Sign the PPC Petition!
I just discovered the nVidia PPC-Linux drivers petition. All you Linux/PPC users out there should consider signing it! The language is a little rough, but the message should be clear enough to nVidia.

Re:The List
That's incorrect.
The latest "target date" is for "a pre-release version" for Teron motherboard owners, and this was announced to be "early next year" (i.e. 2004).
Anyway, this was the 2003 Vaporware awards. AmigaOS 4.0 was not for sale in 2003, and the first announced releasedates go back to 2001. Ergo, it's still vapourware, even if it really is coming RSN(TM) this time.
What's sad is that it won't be allowed to actually be for sale, ever, unless "Amiga, Inc." get a clue. -

What is right, what will make their real life karma better is to protect Free Speech, regardless how disgustingly it is (ab)used.
What is right is to stand for equity and Freedom, not for self-proclaimed "geeky" shit.
Michael and Taco are indeed censors, the most dangerous of these : those who think they are not censors but instead act for the wellfare of humanity by politically-correctly protecting their own "still well-being" so that they can buy DRM'ed shit whenever they feel like consuming. -

This Story Must Get Out
On January 14, the Christmas Island Internet Administration abruptly disabled everyone's favorite domain, goatse.cx. All joking aside, this action brings up serious questions regarding registrars exercising control over the content of websites they don't host. Goatse's geek appeal as a cult phenomenon is arguably stronger than AYBABTU, and has been an omnipresent icon here at Slashdot for years. There's a petition, as well as a thread at the
.cx registrar's forum, supporting the reinstatement of the domain.
Regardless of peoples' feelings about what was hosted at goatse.cx, arbitrary domain suspension due to content has potentially chilling effects. CIIA used a vaguely-worded clause in their registration agreement which allows them to disable any domain for any (or no) reason, even if the domain's operators aren't doing anything wrong and aren't otherwise in violation of the agreement. The suspension was apparently done with neither warning nor notice to the domain's owner.
Nearly all registrars maintain the right to take such action. However, to my knowledge this has never been done before, except in cases where the domain's owner was seriously violating the registration agreement in other ways - spamming, illegal activities, etc. - and even then only on rare occasions. The goatse situation essentially amounts to a web-based joe job, wherein the site's owner had no control over links to the domain or how they were used.
Until this week, I'd always been under the impression that it's a hosting provider's job to stop service to a domain. If a website contained content so controversial as to generate complaints, the hosting provider would make the decision as to whether or not to continue serving the domain. If the host declined, the domain's owner could simply move the site to a more tolerant host. And that's the way it should be.
With CIIA's action, the tables have turned, and a registrar - even if only a small player - has set a precedent for registrars playing the role of content moderator. While this could come in handy (imagine dotster.com, who are running Apache on some sort of Unix, suspending sco.com's registration just for the heck of it), it also makes the process of shutting down potentially controversial sites far too easy. What if the Public Internet Registry decides on a whim to disable landoverbaptist.org because "Landover takes parody too far for our liking," or freenetproject.org because "Freenet can be used for bad purposes," or slashdot.org because "there are too many radical thinkers on that site?"
Domain names are finite resources. If it's widely known that you can be found at example.com, and your webhost shuts you down because they don't approve of the content of your website, you can find another webhost and be back online within a day or so. But if your registrar suspends your domain because they don't approve of your site's content, you can't just go somewhere else and "buy a new copy" of your prime internet real estate. (Oddly enough, it appears that Google has decided to ignore links to goatse.cx; I'd been hoping to use the search results to demonstrate the domain's popularity, but no go.)
The finite nature of domains becomes even more of a problem with many ccTLD operators, who are frequently the sole registrars of their root domain. I should emphasize that goatse.cx was suspended, not deleted; the Christmas Island Internet Administration didn't remove goatse.cx and make it available for someone else to re-register. It's still there, and even paid up through 2005. It's just useless now, and its o -

The funny thing is I thought I already posted this. Slashdot must have eaten my comment.
The official complaint which brought it offline.

There's a petition, as well as a thread at the .cx registrar's forum, supporting the reinstatement of the domain.
