Mod parent up, that's hilarious!
Also, I posted already to http://seenonslash.com/, one of the best I've seen in a while.

Re:Icing on the fail cake
What a great idea! I think I'll use my handy time-machine and go back to 2000 and create it. Hang on....
(da da da dat dadadada...)
...
Done. Here it is: Seen on Slash. Enjoy!
I wonder what else I can do with this time machine? Oh well, back to Slashdot...

Re:Thanks
No other site comes close to being as insightful and interesting, and occasionally hilarious.
TBH I haven't gone to this link in awhile since I like to read all comments, but it's a roundup of the most popular Slashdot comments (submitted by users): http://seenonslash.com/

Re:Justifying piracy on Slashdot
You mean this site? It's still up, being updated, and in general shows no sign of having received a take down notice.

Re:No surprise
I keep thinking that we need a forum to discuss slashdot, but I've never seen one.
When I created Seen on Slash a few years ago I thought the forum might become a place for slashdotters to discuss slashdot. We get some decent traffic to the rest of the site, but the forums never caught on.

Re:Still useful
Well, you can check my site's recent changes to see nothing gets through that contains external links, which are the only anonymous submissions protected with CAPTCHA.
Maybe your site's running some very common software. I have a Drupal site for example, that sometimes hit by bots that are obviously specifically written to attack Drupal sites. Or maybe your CAPTCHA implementations have already been broken, or aren't (pseudo-)random enough.

Re:Slashnot?
Wow, in about 15 seconds that went from being a site I've never heard of, to the one site I have chosen as the worst I've seen in years. Sometimes you think you've learned to keep clear of horrible sites, but the lure of something Slashdotty is too strong to resist. Apparently its own maintainer agrees, as it hasn't been updated in two years.
By the way, for an actual good Slashdot side-site, http://www.seenonslash.com/ -

They might as well run a poll and let the readers guess.

Re:Is this really news? The articles may not always be winners, but the tag lines and comments make up for that. Exactly. (Warning: blatant plug.)

Attempt for Slashdot comments
I attempted to create one specific to Slashdot comments. I don't like Slashdot's built in search for anything but articles. Unfortunately slashdot blocks the indexing of pages at
/comments.pl (probably to prevent duplicate content, thereby helping their SEO). But it does work well for my site documenting the best Slashdot comments. So please give it a try and let me know what you think. What I'd really like to know is if it's worth adding slashdot's article URLs even though it'll then search the summary's text as well. Also if there are any other sites which should be included.
I tried the site integration code but the search form submission seems to conflict with my CMS. So a custom page outside the execution of a CMS may be required for some sites. -

Re:/. Navel Gazing
You know you can easily turn off any sections you're not interested in seeing, right? That way the many people who are interested can see the follow-up summary while you ignore it. Or you can separately check out some of the best comments at Seen on Slash (mostly funny).

Re:Slashdot now run by pointy-headed managers
There's a story-about-a-slashdot-comment idea that came from fans and not management.
-
Re:new feature...
There's another site which highlights Slashdot comments. Looks like you've been featured there, too. Congrats!
