More people care to save an Ass than to ban Trump
More than 13,000 Amazon customers (including upwards of 5,000 Amazon Prime subscribers), have signed a letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos calling for the company to stop selling Trump's line of menswear.
Who gives a shit. At the time of this writing 14,131 gamers have signed a petition on a letter to Activision-Blizzard to get them to remove "guns" from the game Overwatch, Because, guns are offensive, that's why! A lone SJW bitched about a pose of "Tracer" being "sexist" since she turned her back towards the camera. Having a rear end on a character is now sexist (I thought both sexes had asses). Blizzard removed the "butt pose", and so we think they should remove all the other offensive things in the game, most offensive of all is Guns. Hey, if one complaint gets an ass removed, then 14K people should get some guns removed from the shooter game, eh?
I'm sorry, if there are more people willing to troll a game company to make a point about censoring games, it makes this leftist hit-piece laughable in comparison. Authoritarian "stop selling what we don't buy" fuckheads are going to have to step up their game. I don't even support Trump, but censorious shit like this disgusts me, and that's the last straw. Fine, I'm fucking voting for Trump. I'd be a fool not to vote for anyone who pisses off the Cry Bullies so much, if only for entertainment potential alone, it will be worth it.
Stay salty, butthurt bitches.

Face up Facebook
I wouldn't be surprised they don't want to share that information because, it would expose them for the trendy racist hypocrites that they really are. I know they are racists because, they are running a support page for the Boeremag terrorists, who were jailed 'cause they tried to bomb Nelson Mandela, start a race war, drive all "non-Whites" out of the country and then set up an all White state in South Africa. Hypocrites because they wouldn't host a support page for Al Qaeda who is fighting the West, yet they are still hosting one for these Boeremag terrors who are fighting Africans, because they don't want Black rule in a Black country. I am banned from Facebook for running this petition against their support of terrorism. http://www.thepetitionsite.com... In fact Twitter banned me too and continue to send rabid rightwing racists for me to "follow". Read more at the blog:- http://natturner1.wordpress.co...

Re:$39 BILLION!?
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/stop-t-mobile-from-being-bought-by-att/
Target: FCC Chairmen
Sponsored by: Customers against the AT&T/T-Mobile Merger
AT&T recently announced a deal to purchase T-Mobile for $39 billion. The acquisition will eliminate a large competitor in the wireless provider market, limiting consumer's choice in provider and service plans. Worst of all, AT&T, the worst rated of the wireless providers, will take over and eliminate T-Mobile, the highest rated in customer satisfaction and service.
We as consumers want to be able to choose a provider with high satisfaction ratings, low rates, and high quality wireless service. This acquisition will allow AT&T to move towards monopolizing the wireless service industry at the expense of consumers. The only way to prevent this is for the FCC to not approve this deal. Please act now to keep an option of excellent quality and service in the wireless provider industry. -
Re:The quarter wave problem
Pollution and such can be handled easily through protection of life and property - if you damage either - you are liable.
And who pays for hurricane damage or for flooded land? What about health problems from poison ivy?
The answer to all of it is to protect individual rights and freedoms
By what mechanism? How do you protect Indonesia or Venice from submerging? How is an Inuit protected from thin ice while out hunting? Inuits are already paying for the West's use of chemicals like PCBs which bioaccumulates. Puget Sound is contaminated with PCBs and other man made chemicals. Orcas and other wildlife can be driven extinct in the Sound because of them.

> Muslim country not under Muslim law
Which countries are you referring to?
I can only think of Turkey off hand.
Scanning signatures on http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/removal-of-the-pics-of-muhammad-from-wikipedia, I saw very few from Turkey... similar to the number I saw come from Canada.
> same sort of bad behaviour
What behavior are your referring to? In this article, they're talking about one group requesting that images of Mohammed not be displayed.
Unless you're referring to the overall "Kill the infidel" behavior, in which case, I think Turkey stands as a convenient counterexample again. -
Re:Why Are They Only Targeting Wikipedia
More importantly, who gives a shit what they think is "unacceptable"?
I know I don't. I don't care almost to the point that this petition doesn't bother me at all. Wikipedia is never going to give in to any of this. Anybody who knows the very least about how Wikipedia operates knows this isn't going to make any kind of a dent in their resolve. For that same reason, I'm not scared of this perceived Muslim threat. Not really.
I did however sign the counter-petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/support-wikipedia-muhammad-pics . Because what does concern me deeply is the language and the numbers. 100,000 is a lot, even for an internet petition, especially considering that this is a group that is not exactly married to the internet. Then there's the language. This petition calls for the removal of the image out of respect for muslims. I'm all for respect for other religions. I will let other people believe whatever the hell they want. I will even suffer a reasonable amount of discomfort to let them do so. We need to give each other some space, at least. That is what respecting other people's religion is. This has nothing whatsoever to do with respect. That's what scares me, how very much they are convinced that these claims are justified, that they're entitled to have this image removed based on their religion alone. That means the whole muslim/western discussion that's so hot at the moment is based on completely shifted views. We use the same words, but we define them differently.
The muslim world doesn't understand the western world at all, and I doubt we understand them very well. When we 'insult' Muhammad, they instantly start insulting Jesus in a sort of "see how you like it" rationale. It seems unimaginable to them that the largest part of the western world does not give a shit what anybody says about Jesus. Which is not to say we are completely free of such taboos. Say the wrong things about the holocaust, and you'll see international outrage and ambassadors being withdrawn and whatnot. The point is, they don't see what the west is really like. (And like I said, the same probably goes for us, although I have more faith in the availability of objective information over here. I doubt I need to explain that one under this story). Until these views get straightened out, we can't work through the tensions that we have at the moment.
So that's why I signed the counter petition. Because I really want it to reach at least similarly high numbers. Not because I'm afraid that Wikipedia will remove the message, but because I want a message out there that is strong enough to make the people that signed the first petition question their sense of entitlement. Just show that there are a hell of a lot of people out there that have very different opinions about what respecting actually religion means. Show these people what world they actually live in. Ringtones!
I can see how some would get this upset but I do think it is a bit silly to sue Apple over the matter - it's just the way commerce works! On the oterh hand, the ringtone issue is crazy. I am absolutley embarrassed how end-user unfriendly the iPhone has become - very un-Apple like in my opinion. I would venture to guess that the iPhone is now the most uncustomizable cellphone on the market!! Am I upset enough to sue - NO. Doesn't really make sense to me. Re:Efficiency is not really importantThis is a good point. Also, you can go for a system that produces less than you use. Most industrial buildings have to do that now anyway because the ratio of roof-to-power consumption is low. I think that aesthetic considerations come in more heavily in the residential market. Certainly Home Owners Associations have concerns. A bill introduced by Sen. Menendez deals with this issue:
Solar Siting Rights: Instructs the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to issue regulations within 180 days of enactment that 1)prohibit any private covenant, contract provision, lease provision, homeowners' association rule or bylaw, or similar restriction that impairs homeowners' ability to install and use a solar energy system and 2) expedite the approval, where such approval is required, of applications to install systems.
and has other provisions listed at the bottom of this petition page.
For commercial roofs, the bottom line is going to come first and whatever saves the most money (or some times provides the most price stability) will be selected. -
Re:I wonder how history will judge us
In Europe, the Internet will be a place (more like what we in the US have today) where ideas are exchanged freely.
you must be in Amsterdam smoking some weed to say something as incredibly daft as "Europe... where ideas are exchanged freely"
In Europe, you can exchange ideas so long as they're everyone else's ideas. Jeremy Clarkson would beg to differ that ideas can be freely exchanged.
you can't even bring up actual real history without getting into trouble. You can't sell WWII memorabilia in France if it is German in nature.
and those are only two off the top of my head. -
please sign st911 petition
The scholars for 9/11 truthbelieve this is no mere coincidence. Through analysis of the physics, it has been concluded that WTC7 fell in a manner not consistent with a "pancake" theory. They are asking for full access to the evidence (photos, video, etc) that NIST used in their report to either support or rebut these claims. So even if you think they are "conspiracy nuts", the release of these documents would prove them wrong... so do it. Sign the petition
:) Yes, I expect to be vehemently attacked. But whatever. What good is karma if you can't speak your true beliefs! -
This is not about money.
This is not about money, it is about the opportunity.
People say "let them legalize". Believe it or not, it's not an option for most of these kids. Have you ever thought about how hard it is for these kids to legalize in this country being illegal aliens? Well for most it's impossible.
Why? Because the Dream Act doesn't exist and there is simply no other way for some.
They were brought here by their parents. Studied... graduated. Now what? People say "let them go back". Go back where? They GREW UP HERE!! This country IS their home. Go back and risk never coming back to their HOME country?
People call them "criminals". Really? What is their crime? Being forcefully brought here to live a life of manual labor never to realize their full potential? Does that ring a bell in our history? How is that a crime? Their parents are criminals, but calling these kids criminals is plain stupid. Let's consider this situation. A couple of people have a baby; 1 to 15 years later they illegally enter the US and remain here. The kid is now a criminal for the rest of his/her life? Some people speak of these kids with disgust, even hatred. Why?! They haven't done anything.
Maybe people are afraid of loosing their tax dollars? You think these kids want the money? They pray for the opportunity to become citizens of the country they consider home. They pray for a chance to exercise their full potential. In fact if you told them pay full tuition, maintain a high GPA and then you will have a chance at citizenship, they would accept that with gratitude.
Maybe people are afraid of loosing their jobs? In what country, in what part of history, did more educated people result in loss of jobs? This is absurd. America is the most powerful economy in the world because of competition. This country's education is getting worse. (This is a fact, if you want proof I'll be happy to provide) Why? Not enough competition. Some people would say I'm stupid for saying this. I say, it is incredibly easy to get into college in this country. I cannot emphasize this enough. I know people who finished high school with a 60 average, they attend a community and city colleges not paying a cent. On the other hand, I know people who excelled in every subject and now they work illegally for $4 an hour sometimes 20 hours a day. Lack of Dream Act forces these kids to work illegally once they realize that there is no opportunity for them in their own country (Which IS the US do not forget!). Although they feel horrible for breaking the law and working illegally, there is simply no other way for them. Would you starve to obey the law?
These kids are undocumented Americans not criminals. There is a reason why the Dream Act includes the 5 year minimum residency and a maximum age of 16 at entry. The Dream Act is just the right thining to do. I urge everyone to sacrifice a minute of your time and support the Dream.

Re:The real problem with Steam
"what happens when Valve goes out of business" ?
I will be dancing on their graves and send them a personal R.I.P card :)
I dont *care* if a company migrates or not a game to Linux.
Why the fuck should they ????
But Valve .. well that is another category of whores.
They release LINUX gaming servers (which suits them) but release no LINUX client?
Capisci ??
I have a lot of respect for the creators of Halo and Halo 2 -
since they refrain from *stealing* from Linux like those fetid from Valve.

Re:More hippes...
I don't know about the "pot smoking hippies" part, but I tend to agree that this is not a major contribution to science or technology. I'm not so sure that Canadians should be proud that $600,000 of what was probably taxpayer's money were spent on this project.
Having said that, someone down below posted taht "Solar powered transportation is not practical." Well, these guys did it. I think the fact that they have ridden it hundreds of km around the city shows it can be done. They are not engineering prodigies, but they have shown that you can do it AND in the end you can do it fairly cheaply.
PSSST Electric cars can be practical. Some think there is a conspiracy to kill electric powered vehicles like the GM EV-1 (I would have sent you a link to GM's official information on the car, but I can't find it!).

4 Very Important Comments :
1. Fuck Valve (or any no-Linux client but Linux server whores - boycott)
2. Crossweavers will go to Heaven, Cedega Purgatory, Valve bums to Hell
3. Buy a Linux Game (My UT should arrive today)
4. Checkout and download this most brilliant FREE GAME! (can't believe servers are empty such a brill game) -

A voter-verified paper trail is the only way to verify that the system is working. Under this system, the machine would produce a paper ballot, which the voter checks then deposits into a locked box. The paper receipts are counted in the event of a recount (unlike our current requirements, where totals from an end-of-night printout can be used, assuming the machines total the votes accurately). The bill also requires a recount in 0.5% of districts chosen at random to verify that the machines are totalling accurately.

We need your help!
HR 2239 is a bill which requires all touch-screen voting machines to produce a paper receipt which the voter can read and verify, then drop in a lock box. The receipts in that lock box are used in a recount. This bill also mandates a recount in 0.5% of districts chosen at random to verify that the touch-screen voting machines are reporting the results accurately.
Sign the online petition to support the bill. Contact your representatives, educate them and demand they support the bill.
We also need legal help with injunctions against the machines, starting with the 37 Diebold states. The organizers of BlackBoxVoting.org have 65,000 documents to make the case.

Re:Banner blocking is bad
Sure.
Save the Whales
As you know, higher frequencies can carry more data. Banner ads require lots of data to transfer (images - often many images, sometimes sound - all data hogs).
If we don't use banner ads, we can continue using lower frequencies to transmit data. And as the study has shown, high frequencies can kill or harm whales. Therefore...
Oh, yeah, I'd like to take this moment to mention that the whole list was BS, just as the statement "Banner Blocking is Bad" is BS. That was kinda the point. ha-ha - right? Get it?
Oh. Sorry. -

Re:Free the namespace!
What you are proposing is technically feasible, including adding a DNS record type for ownership (DNS is designed to be extremely extensible).
The problem with such plans is that they require the people who currently control the namespace to either adopt a sensible set of rules that do not strive for artificial scarcities, or give up their control.
Which they seem unwilling to do. Perhaps their lives are so unrewarding that maintaining their power over the Internet namespace is meaningful to them.
Maybe they need to get laid. -
Is there another petition out there for this?
Yesterday, I found petition which was advertised in an earlier slash-dot discussion. Is there another petition for the security point? This one seems overly broad for this specific topic.

justice, not revenge
In the aftermath of these attacks, a lot of scary things are happening. People are suggesting that we nuke the entire middle-east, or at least go violently destroy anyone even suspected of any involvement. The FBI wants all ISPs to install Carnivore. The govenment wants more illegal wiretapping.
If any of these are as scary to you as they are to me, I encourage you to sign the petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/22462249 5 which calls for "justice, not revenge".
Ben Franklin said: "Those who would sacrifice essential liberty for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
