Well, the thing is that Elon is pretty clear about his own mistakes. For example he made a film compilation of SpaceX crashes.

So, it's not really that he can do wrong. It's that he owns his mistakes in front of everybody else, and still dares to innovate, and wins reasonably often although sometimes it's after great effort (as in the film above).

He is also about the only big company CEO who will dare to post silly stuff. Like this. And the guy was five when Monty Python and the Holy Grail came out. So, it seems to me that he's going out of his way to convince people that he is a human rather than someone faultless.

So, why shouldn't people like him?

Spelling mistakes do happen. So do reading mistakes. The Register had an article on the confusion caused by using "expertsexchange" as a username and a .dom web page. Could anyone remember every single randomly assigned email address used by universities.

If Drupal's core team was focused on writing good software instead of expelling members, problems like this would not occur.

This problem started with the 8.3 branch, with a core committer who did not understand sanitize_input needs a whitelist to sanitize against. Core committers are supposed to set the example, not act like impulsive coders who can't RTFM on software that's been well-documented.

Drupal used to have a competent team who could catch each other's mistakes. Now it's a bunch of paranoid freaks writing manifestos and keeping shitlists about anyone who does not agree with their ideas about feminist intersectionality and praxis.

How they find the time for releases is beyond me. It's going to cost about $20 million to patch 1 million websites worldwide.

I just listened to the entire TED Talk and she never said that - at least not in that TED Talk.

In 2012, Facebook actively cooperated with the Obama campaign to give them everything CA got - and more.

Carol Davidsen, who worked as the Director of Media Analytics for the Obama campaign, has gone public with what they did back then. She said that the Obama campaign did things they (the Facebook staffers) didn't know were possible, but Facebook didn't stop them:

They came to office in the days following election recruiting & were very candid that they allowed us to do things they wouldn’t have allowed someone else to do because they were on our side

Of course, back then, everyone loved it and told each other that it was the way of the future. Then it turned out that more than just young Left-wing voters used Facebook, and suddenly this is all a problem.

Did the Obama campaign break Facebook's ToS? Probably. We won't ever know for certain, though, because Facebook decided to support Obama rather than protect its customer's privacy.

I have done hundreds of hours of obstacle testing with lidar, radar, stereo-graphic cameras. Guaranteed any of them would see this bike/woman in time to stop. 95% sure Uber software messed up, only thing I can think of is in obstacle classification, the bike broadside could have caused it to be classified as blowing dust, tumbleweeds, snow, or something.

Supposedly Facebook's CSO, Alex Stamos, who actually wanted Facebook to look into the Russian misinformation campaign during the US elections, is leaving Facebook after clashes with other senior management, most notably Sheryl Sandberg. Even more potentially damning is that according to Carole Cadwalladr Facebook staff were in Cambridge Analytica's London offices "securing data" when agents of the UK's ICO turned up to do the same. Whether this occured before Cambridge Analytica became the subject of a formal request for a seach warrant is a little unclear though. I think this is starting to look like it's might have got some real legs to it, so I'm going to stock up on the popcorn and see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Facebook and Cambridge Analytica can at least count their blessings on one thing though; they managed to have all this blow up in their faces *before* the GDPR kicked in.

That is an absolutely ridiculous chart. The user can customize their experience so finely that it seems impossible to get the desired result. Per-device preferences, per-channel preferences, both with different levels of settings and actions. DND and DND overrides, user presence online or not, subscribed to thread messages, etc.

I'm not a user of Slack but if that's how the app handles notifications, I shudder to think about how one could possibly understand how to use the software effectively.

NYPD sources said Clinton's "crew" also included several unnamed yet implicated members of Congress in addition to her aides and insiders.

The NYPD seized the computer from Weiner during a search warrant and detectives discovered a trove of over 500,000 emails to and from Hillary Clinton, Abedin and other insiders during her tenure as secretary of state. The content of those emails sparked the FBI to reopen its defunct email investigation into Clinton on Friday.

Child exploitation

NYPD detectives and a NYPD Chief, the department's highest rank under Commissioner, said openly that if the FBI and Justice Department fail to garner timely indictments against Clinton and co- conspirators, NYPD will go public with the damaging emails now in the hands of FBI Director James Comey and many FBI field offices.

"What's in the emails is staggering and as a father, it turned my stomach," the NYPD Chief said. "There is not going to be any Houdini-like escape from what we found. We have copies of everything. We will ship them to Wikileaks or I will personally hold my own press conference if it comes to that."

The NYPD Chief said once Comey saw the alarming contents of the emails he was forced to reopen a criminal probe against Clinton.
