Re:Look behind you Batman
Seriously, unless these bots have 360 degree vision, some sort of self destruct mode you are going to quickly see these bots, and their guns being put into the other sides hands.
... How soon till we have robowarrior-takedowns.
I'm not even sure they need to do takedowns. How long until we see these things in the hands of other countries' militaries because the U.S. sold them to them?
I mean, just one example-- Iraq. Think about it. In eight days Iraq has elections. Last any solid news got out, indications were that the elections would be held in about 50% of the country, and indications were that the elections are quite likely to be won by a group more or less indistinguishable from someone like Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but it's possible that by luck or U.S. interference we'll wind up-- either in eight days or within the year-- with a stable government that is amenable to U.S. interests. If this happens we're going to want to make this government self-sufficient as soon as possible. We're probably going to try to pull our soldiers out as quickly as we can (except for some strategic bases) and declare the war over. But if we're going to stop providing direct military support to whatever random government Iraq has at the end of this year, we're going to need to give them support of certain other kinds. You know. Money. Weapons. Because the war against the "insurgents" won't be over.
Similarly, in the 1980s, Saddam Hussein was our Ally, and he was fighting a war against Iran, so we sold him lots of military technology and weapons-- including technology used to create and deliver chemical and biological weapons-- and brokered the sale of lots more. We didn't think in the slightest about what might be done with those weapons in the future; he was our Ally.
Well, right now America's being run by the exact same people that sold Saddam Hussein the means to use chemical and biological weapons in the 80s, and they haven't shown any indication of learning from their past. So once post-election Iraq becomes our Ally (assuming of course it doesn't just plunge back into anarchy once Feb. 1 comes), we'll probably sell them whatever weapons they need, whatever they ask for. If these RC robot soldiers turn out to work well, and we can increase production, we might well wind up selling some of these robots to the new Iraq. I mean, why not? They seem like just the thing to quickly put down "insurgencies".
I wonder where those weapons will be and what they'll be used for in 20 years? -
Neostalinist==one who doesn't beat off to Rush Lim
You rightwingers think anyone who doesn't masturbate while listening to Rush is a Neostalinist, or at least a filthy dirty commie.
Here are some links
It's really common knowledge to anyone who has a decent reading range. BTW, I was listening to Rush when you were probably still getting lunch money from yer mama.... -
Re:Islam is the "religion of peace"
OK, I'll bite. I don't give a shit about my karma, no one here listens to me anyway.
Why does the religion of peace need special instructions on how to act civilized?
Because all religions do.
Why is the religion of peace directly responsible for 28 out of the 30 violent conflicts raging in the world today?
'God told me to strike at al-Qaida and I struck them, and then He instructed me to strike at Saddam'
-- George W. Bush
Why is the religion of peace responsible for the vast majority of terrorism in the 20th and 21st Centuries?
Because terrorist groups were funded by western powers such as the CIA, France and Israel.
Why are the practitioners of the religion of peace routinely slaughtering unarmed practitioners of every other religion wherever they can get away with it?
Oh, really?
Why does the religion of peace call for the murder of anyone who converts from the religion of peace to another religion?
Because the religion of peace is slightly less peaceful than other monotheist religions, but not much. And just like not all Muslims are like Mullah Omar, maybe not all Christians are like Pat Robertson, either.
Why do so many of the believers of the religion of peace look forward to the opportunity to rape 72 virgins in heaven if they die while killing innocent women and children of other religions?
Maybe the whole concept of going to heaven for being obedient to some guy in the clouds is fucking retarded in the first place.
Why do the leaders of the religion of peace routinely issue fatwas (death warrants) for anybody who questions their holy book of peace and their holy prophet of peace?
See #6.
Why is the religion of peace responsible for the sexual mutilation of millions of little girls and the savage oppression of women?
No it doesn't.
Why did millions of the practitioners of the religion of peace laugh, cheer and dance in the street because 3,000 innocent men, women and children were murdered by seventeen men who supposedly hijacked the religion of peace?
You must be referring to the other religion of peace.
And why dont the real practitioners of the religion of peace condemn the supposed hijackers of their religion?
Because their websites were shut down by the FBI days before 9/11.
Frankly, I'm an atheist and I don't care about religion, but I'm sick of people being hypocrites. Are we going to use the excuse of the oh so evil Political Correctness to dehumanise the Muslims, as it happened to the Jews in Europe before the Holocaust? History has shown that there is far more to fear from fascism that grows in mass hysteria induced by propaganda than scarecrows used by chickenhawks to justify imperialism. -

Re:Two things - Both Wrong!
Pull your head out of the Right-Wing's Ass and take a look around for once. There is overwhelming evidence now that Bush did in fact steal the election AGAIN. The corporate media is doing a fine job of covering this up, but at least now we have the option of an alternative source of news. A wonderful source for all these stories, with links to many other sites, is What Really Happened. Stop believing the damn lies!
-
Re:Can you say dupe?
You're lying.
Fox News routinely put out stories about Iraq that were proven to be nonsense later on, and we NEVER heard anything more from them on the subject.
And then there's Carl Cameron's story about the Israeli Spyring. Simply removed from the site. No explanation. No retraction.
Sell it somewhere else. -
Re:Something not so funny.
There is a very interesting historical parallel drawn between Cassus of Rome, Hitler of Germany, and Bush of the US regarding "fake terror" used to start wars so that citizens voluntarily give up their rights. Peruse at will: Fake Terror

Re:Say What?

NWO
Make no mistake about it folks, what you are seeing here is preparations for this years vote rigging.
Bush is going to get re-elected no matter how big Kerry _really_ defeats him vote-wise.
He will set CIA and Mossad on launching more "terrorist" attacks on US soil, to coerce the public into accepting martial law.
He will re-institue the draft.
He will put America in a state of Martial law.
He will send more of us off to fight for him and his buddies making the big $$, and for Israels interests in the middle east.
The next world war is coming, and with it the New World Order. America is NOT going to play the "good-guy" part this time.
The ones of you who are currently passively sitting there DOING NOTHING about these rather grim outlooks will surely regret your inaction later.
Tell your friends and family, tell anyone you know, tell people you don't know. Call / fax your congressmen, senators (emails are ignored). Call / fax your local newspapers / tv stations / radio stations, ask them why they don't say a bloody peep about any of these issues.

What Really Happened
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/ is a good place to see a lot of stories you might not run into anywhere else. While some of it may be a little crazy, it is an interesting place.
-
Re:Site is incredibly biased...In the first place, the issue with Fox News is not nearly as clear-cut as the anti-growth-hormone movement makes it out to be. Here is a slightly less biased article on the affair which appeared in the Columbia Journalism Review. According to it, the TV station was trying to navigate difficult legal and editorial decisions, while:
"the people at WTVT trying to work with the correspondents regarded them, especially Wilson, as combative, contentious, insulting, and unprofessional. The Fox lawyer participating in the editorial review complained to them that they were stating "in almost every way possible that you are fed up with our process of legal and editorial review."
In the second place, does your opinion mean that you believe the Beef Industry's lawsuit against Oprah should have succeeded?
And of course many non-Fox news organizations have out-and-out fabricated major components of stories before. Dateline NBC, 60 Minutes, and (of course) 60 Minutes II and Dan Rather. -
Re:OT...There are a ton of Sept. 11 conspiracy theories. Here's one example: http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/cutter.html. This was the result of 5 seconds of Google research and not anything I personally have any interest in.

Re:Michael Moore
Start quoting some sources for those things you think liberals say.
I'll match you punch for punch.
The right says ridiculous things about the left, like Preisdent Clinton murders people who get in his way.
It's all nuts. -
Re:This is too funny! As for Waco and Ruby Ridge, the people involved were definately `bad guys'...
How so? Or are you just repeating what the government tells you because we all know that the government doesn't lie?
And all the children burned alive by the FBI & ATF were 'bad guys' too?
For more info on the raid go here. I warn you that some of the pictures are not for the faint of heart.

and closed source propietary firms.......and defense related places DON'T hire foreign nationals or domestic nationals with perhaps a bent for the blackhat side? This never happens? And everyone in government itself is sweet and pure as the mountain streams, and would never think of doing anything...strange... for some financial remuneration off the books? This never happens either? And so called "allied and friendly" governments don't run spooks inside our establishment and sleepers inside our citizenry? And they *always* have our best interests at heart?
Nope. Open source is still the best way to go, along with open government. When you let people hide "stuff", and when it's connected to massive political power and heaps 0 money, that's when crimes occur. The best bet is openness, bar none. It is not perfect, but it's the best design yet. -
Re:bushgameMy apologies. I had not realized that you were completely unable to locate information on the Internet without it being spoon-fed to you.
All of this, of course, ignores the fact that when the President of the United States decides to embrace the doctrine of preemptive war, claiming that there is an imminent threat to his own nation, the burdern of proof is on him to support those claims. Let's see the evidence of WMDs in Iraq. How about those aerial drones that could be used against the US? An Iraq-Al Qaeda link? Some uranium from Africa? Anything?

Re:First Amendment Message? It wasn't Muslims dancing in the streets, it was a small group of Palestinians. Not that I condone their celebrating at all (it disgusted me at the time), they said that this was justice for America giving weapons to Israel that were used to kill Palestinian schoolchildren, and the US giving more weapons to Israel after the fact. Besides, it's a fact that five Israelis were arrested after cheering and dancing in NYC on 9/11.
Also, Terry Nichols' brother, who was filmed in Bowling for Columbine, seemed to support the idea of an uprising against the government.
-
Very perceptive of you
Indeed it would be demonized, but that hasn't stopped sites like What Really Happened or Turning the Tide, even though they are quite popular.
Then again, they don't reach millions of people with video, which for some odd reason works more convincing on most people. -
Re:The US should watch the Canadian border
Our politicians still don't think we have a terrorist problem. Our politicians think the Americans are the cause of all their terrorist problems. Our politicians think that if the Americans would just be nice to everyone all the time, everything would be just fine.
We actually dont have a terrorist problem. There is *no* "Terrorist Problem". The Forces of Emmanual Goldstein are *NOT* out to get you.
Turn off your TV pal. Canadaians (and USofAians really) shouldnt be afraid of fascist criminals. Here in reality, people have more to fear from their daily commutes or dying from a fall in the bathtub. While flaming airplanes make good propaganda, I am more concerned by the menace that is my toilet.
While the Terrorists make a very good Enemy in order to stir up fear, they arent actually a concern for every-day Westerners. You, I and the rest of the /. crowd would do well to get some perspective about this "threat" and what a correct response is -- and is not.
What is NOT the correct response is invading foreign nations in reaction for what is really a criminal matter. What is NOT the correct response is for chicken-shit paranoids like yourself to buy the Fox News Rhetoric hook, line and sinker. What is NOT a correct response is to give these simple criminals credibility and prestige amoungst would-be suicide-bombers by making them Enemy #1 and declaring War on Terror(!) Spare me. Exacly the tactic you do NOT want if you are really trying to protect yourself from them... unless, of course, you are interested in the APPEARANCE of threat... hmmmm..?)
The Americans should be reasonablly concerned that 100years of exporting misery and death has a few advocates of said fitlh coming home to roost. Does CANADA (remember, we are NOT the USA -- even the barbarian hordes read a little you know...) have anything to be concerned about? Id say no, there is little chance of anything of real concern happening here. Could it? Sure. Am i going to seek out the first Federal Government who promises me a little temporary Security in Exchange for a little liberty? I fucking think not.
Keep your paranoia worry about Emmanual Goldstein to yourself -- your only encouraging the Real Fascists . -
Re:Look at how fast they adapted
It's been linked to in this thread like three times now.

Re:Look at how fast they adapted
The "labor policies" that were changed in that Executive Order concerned what is more popularly known as the whistleblower statutes. These were laws designed to protect government employees against recrimination for calling attention to misdeeds, incompetence, what have you.
That the President of the United States felt compelled to deny this very specific group of individuals protection under these statutes, the very day after evidence is produced implicating the Navy in this tragedy can be seen as nothing less than an attempt to cover-up the truth.
Unless, of course, you've got your blinders on.
As for the NTSB, that report is mostly crap. It doesn't talk about how NTSB agents appeared in front of a Senate subcommittee and testified against the FBI, accusing them of confiscating and deliberately destroying evidence, both felony activities.
I actually got to see those hearing live on C-SPAN. (But now that I think about it, it could have been unmarked black helicopters transmitting secret mind control signals that only my tin-foil hat was capable of receiving.)
If you want to learn the facts about TWA 800.
The lawsuit against NTSB over TWA 800. -
Re:Look at how fast they adaptedI actually gave you a mod point, but after reflexion, it's better to show you support by writing down what I think too.
You are being labelled as a flamer for implying that the Navy is the responsible for that crash. However, as one might notice, there are some really serious reasons to believe it really happened.
What is really amazing is that those exactly same people that ask you to take your medicine are also flaming the Patriot Act, which is the very follow-up for such behavior...
But everyone is free to keep blinders, indeed.
And, BTW, I wanted to thank you for your sig link, I've been enjoying it for months.
Keep going !

Re:Best examples of heresy I can think of
Excuse me, but did bin Laden really admit this?
How do you know the tape wasn't faked?
Have you seen this?
Does that really look like Osama bin Laden?
And if the tape truly is genuine, then why won't any government/mainstream media website host it?
You do realize that it is extremely easy using today's technology to fabricate such evidence, do you not?
You do realize that our government has lied repeatedly about other aspects of our war in Iraq/Afghanistan, yes?
So what makes you think that this isn't a lie as well? -
Re:Best examples of heresy I can think ofYou should check out the evidence against Israel here.
"Forgive me while I still consider your post flamebait."
The truth is hard to face, is it not? -
Re:Yeah, yeah, I know, troll..
One Saudi. The article goes on to say that there are other Saudis who don't believe the tape is genuine.
And I find it especially interesting that no link is provided to the tape. If this really is the proof you say it is, why doesn't whitehouse.gov and all the mainstream media feature it front and center--or for that matter, anywhere--on their web sites???
And have you seen this? No way is that man in the video Osama bin Laden. Look at the cheeks, the nose. It's not him.
-
Re:Yea we learned from 9/11
Oh is that so ?
Yes, it is.
How would you take motiviation from someone like Saddam, Osama or even Hitler ?
Saddam Hussein- By not leading him to believe that we don't care if he invades Kuwait and then killing his army when he does.
Osama Bin Laden - By not unilaterally supporting Israel in every middle eastern conflict.
Hitler - He was not a terrorist. He was a madman. Terrorists have political motivations. Hitler's only motivation was power. War was the only way to stop him.
I don't know why I took the time to respond to an anonymous troll like yourself, well maybe someone who is capable of thinking about this issue will read my response.

Re:Open the damn source.
Only one of the Florida conspirators has come fessed up about Florida erasing black folks from the roles under pretense of their being "felons".
I'd like to see a reference if you've got one!
An official with ChoicePoint/DBT (the third party that did the role cleansing) mysteriously died in an aviation accident.
A significant number of Clinton opponents and associates who could have implicated them (if the implications were true) have turned up dead as well. Now I'm not saying that I believe the Clintons are mass murderers, but for everything that happens in relating to the public eye, there is a nutty conspiracy theory. -
Re:Washington Times
Everybody makes up news stories. Like when NBC needed to show that GM trucks explode when struck from the side. They said the fuel tank ruptured. But what they did was overfil the gas tank, didn't screw the gas cap on (Just left it sitting on top) and then they strapped remotely detonated explosive under the truck to ignite the gas when it spilt out! And even then, the flames went out after a few seconds, so they had to "creativly" edit it to make the fire look worse. Here is a summary Although he did get one thing wrong: NBC hasn't died yet, in the 4 years since it happened. Hmm, I also recall something about slowing down the tape, so it looked like the truck they hit it with was going fairly slow, but it was actually going really fast.

The other views...
"That's funny. Did you know that Hitler, Stalin, and Lenin are all still alive, eating shoes to survive in my basement? It's just as real as your living hijackers. Fucking trolls..."
Actually, it's seems that it's not that far-fetched... After reading his post, I did a search, and found some VERY interesting links.
Ofcourse, one should take everything one reads on the internet with a pinch of salt. But when the evidence of a hoax is evident even on the official photos, posted on the official government sites, and clearly shows that it simply couldn't have happened the way the gov't say it does, what should you belive?

Re:Brill's just the Shill... (for Choicepoint)
Hell, just look through the archives at What Really Happened -- the history the gov't hopes you don't learn. The guy running the show may be a crackpot, may not. I'll keep my own opinions on the matter private, but there's plenty o' links in his archives about ChoicePoint (among a great many other things). If nothing else, it's something to think about. Just for a reference point, I read foxnews.com and newsmax.com as well. I don't like only seeing one side of the story. Most likely, neither side is the truth.

This scares the shit out of me.Who is Diebold?
Lets see who they are?
I did a search on google and found some scary stuff.
All 3 vendors only contribute to the republican party! Did you know one of Dick Cheney's friends from Halliburton is actually in charge of the voting machine division!
Link here and here.
What if lets say theoritically speaking of course the CEO of Diebold wanted a nice big pay check. He could go to Bush and give him 4 more years for a nice big paycheck from the RNC.
We need audits. .This is crazy and no company should be given that much power. -

Re:Stem cell researchfeel free to try to vote him out next time and let democracy work
Voting no longer guarantees democratic-like representation in the USA. The 2000 prez elections saw that in full glory, corruption that would have caused a furore in most countries. There were a variety of fraudulent schemes in that campaign, but the one that takes the cake is the "database of felons" scheme covered by Greg Palast. Amazing how well this info was/is suppressed in the great media machine.
Stem-cell research policy from on-high will likely be highly partisan, influenced by a mixture of 'life-sciences' / pharmaceutical corporate back-room deals and a nod to the christian right doctrine necessary for the right optics to primary supporters. [see: "Iraq, reconstruction graft"]
Well, as you said, feel free to "try."

OK, here's proof
I think the most compelling evidence is the Odigo story originally reported in the Washington Post. They've since taken it down, but Haaretz still carries it.
You can of course find the text of the article in the Washington Post through Google.
That an Israeli company received advance warning of the attacks is interesting, given that The New York Times reports that only one Israeli died in the WTC. This suggests that the Odigo workers may not have been the only ones warned. It's worth noting too that the one Israeli who died was only there visiting, that is, they may not have known he was even going to be there.
Then there's the Israeli spy ring that was uncovered shortly after 9/11... the biggest spy ring ever uncovered in fact. Fox News had this story, of course, they too later took the story down, but it's archived here. The presence of the spys was largely confirmed by the Jewish publication, even if they sought a more benign explanation, but both accounts link these spies with the alleged 9/11 terrorists.
Finally, we have the Israelis who were dancing as the towers fell, and who appear to have been Mossad agents.
Is that enough? There's more you know. All of it sourced by mainstream/corporate media organizations, all of it far more damning than the largely imaginary case being made against al Qaeda and the 19 terrorists (seven of whom have been found to still be alive, BTW. -

C) Of course there's no proof. A large number of murder cases go unsolved, and this one of them.
D) You can't deny that there *was* a a coverup for whatever reason.
One might logically conclude that the Clintons arranged for Vince Foster's death, but because there is that shadow of doubt and Clinton *has* greased the right people, we will *never* know the truth.
Don't let your love for Clinton, his politics, and the "economic boom" that he supposedly created (he helped by signing the tax cuts in 94, but beyond that he played little part in that) blind you to the very real possibility that the Clintons conspired to murder Vince Foster. -
Re:Not unusual
It's really wonderful to know that the system mostly works.
The problem is it doesn't always work that way. Don't forget Cointelpro, and more recently the Ramparts case in LA and the Riders case in Oakland. As if to disprove that wide-spread, systematic abuse was part of the past, the DOJ brought us their post 9/11 roundup policy.
Getting a warrant is trivial. It is not an impediment to law enforcement and represents only the most inconsequential of protections (no wiretap request was turned down last year). What it does provide is a paper trail a tiny bit of oversight, and that means some recourse for the Abner Louima's of the world, and possibly a moment of reflection for the cops to question their own actions, even if the judge really isn't likely to.
It's right to help law enforcement in their legitimate business, but it's not up to a private company to determine legitimacy, it's up to the courts. That everyone has the right (I think still) to refuse to cooperate without a warrant is our only fig leaf; dropping it voluntarily just encourages abuse. We all owe it to our police forces to make it harder for the bad apples to ruin things for the good cops.
Hopefully some bad cop somewhere will misuse this policy of eBay's and the injured party will file a massive lawsuit against eBay for aiding and abetting the crime and collect a meaningful punitive reward. Probably not, but we can hope. In the mean time, eBay makes it easy for anyone who wants a few credit card numbers to pay their bills. -

I presume that it means, this German guy didn't see the "raw" SCO evidence, but he saw SCO's presentation/interpretation/summary of the "evidence"
Reminds me of Bush's presentation of his evidence before the UN. Was also not the "raw" evidence. Because there was no raw evidence. It was all just hot air (...errm, sorry, hydrogen...)
