Console games were already big business in 1977. PC games...not so much. Even high selling PC games in 1980 might sell only 10 or 20 thousand copies. Console games...well the 2600 version of Space Invaders sold 2 million copies. That's professionally packaged. Not some hand copied disk in a baggie with mimeographed instructions like say Akalabeth or something.

That said, the relationship between console gaming, notwithstanding the consoles are a type of computer, and "PC" gaming is synergistic.

We're all pretty much playing the same games now anyway. Minecraft, Skyrim, Brown-Shooter-of-the-Week, niche-market-space-game like NMS, indie games.

The best thing for EV batteries when they are no longer good for EV use is second life battery projects reusing them for less demanding applications like static energy storage. When they can no longer deliver bursts of high current they can still hold lots of charge and be useful for years, for example balancing supply and demand in a house running on solar electricity. Maybe after they're no good for that either they'll be worth dismantling and recycling.

Here is the top youtube video showing ADHD vs non-ADHD child. Does the girl have ADHD or is she just anxious? Look at how she sits and how the boy sits. Count how many times the boy smiles and how many times the girl smiles (hint: zero). If the girl is the top example of ADHD, I can give 100 children ADHD interviews and classify a large portion as having ADHD. Of course I would be impartial and have no stake in classifying kids as having ADHD and charging for weekly counseling, writing prescriptions, etc.

My intention by bringing up apples was that Granny Smith is a household-name hybrid that can't be grown from its own seeds. Whether it was re-hybridized from the same parents or continuously grafted into new trees is beside the point, though I can see how it adds unnecessary complexity to my point.

This will of course vary between countries and type of crop. Do you have any source that specifically corn seed are typically re-grown from the current crop?

Also, I don't think Monsanto has sold any sterile seeds. They're all probably hybrids though -- meaning that their seeds won't be anything like their parent (again, see my Granny Smith comparison), but hybridization is much older than modern GMO techniques and Monsanto. If you don't like sterile seeds though, you should avoid commercial bananas. In spite of how phallic they look, they're incapable of naturally breeding.

I disagree with this assessment. I argue that countries like China, Russia, and North Korea tend to look more long term then our representatives, who seem to only care about the time between now and the next election cycle. Here in the U.S. we do have the Supreme Court Justices who I believe do consider the long term ramifications but you're selling these other countries short to assume they only care about the short term.
