A new word to label as hate speech
When are we going to finally define the word "racist" as hate speech?
I mean in current parlance racist is the n-word for white people. -
Re:Yes
You have laid out a grand series of assertions, with absolutely nothing to back them up. And then say that, if we don't simply believe what you say, then we are hopelessly stupid sheep fattened by the feces of propaganda. My friend, you are bizarre.

Re:Unclear
Provable, eh? So, tell me how a middle class white guy is more privileged than Obama. How is a white family in a trailer park more privileged than Jonathan Butler?
If there is privilege, wouldn't Asians be the top of the list of privileged? They make more money and are better educated than any other demographic in the USA. Where is the Asian privilege?
You know why 'race/gender/orientation' privilege is bullshit? It takes complex socioeconomic circumstances an individual may experience and reduce them down to a single attribute to be extrapolated to a group that shares that attribute. Where is that same logic applied anywhere else that isn't thoroughly rejected as bullshit?
Racists and sexists use that bullshit to justify racist behavior. Like this cunt or this bitch.
When is statistical disparity not indicative of racism? Or is the NBA and NFL just a bunch of racists because of black privilege in sports.

Re: We have those already in the US
Yes, because Europeans are inherently all honest and Americans are all t'ieves aren't we?
Self-service checkouts turn honest shoppers into thieves, warn criminologists
The study involved data from nearly 12 million shopping trips from four major British retailers as well others in the US, Belgium and Holland between 2013 and 2015
The researchers found that introducing self-checkouts raised the rate of loss by 122 per cent to an average of 3.9 per cent of turnover.
It is also difficult for retailers to identify whether a customer wilfully took items without scanning or were simply absentminded.
I'm in the US and I must plead guilty to being absentminded and "stealing" a loaf of bread once. It was very crowded and I just wanted to get the hell out of there. After I exited the store I noticed it sitting there in the lower basket of my cart (not scanned or paid for). I briefly thought about going back inside and paying for it, but then I thought of the crowds and the time it would take.
I figured I could just make it right the next time I shopped there. I never did.
I've also seen, but never taken, the opportunity to mis-enter the codes for my produce. Am I buying the expensive apples or the cheap ones? Hmmm....I could easily claim it was an honest mistake.
I don't do that because the risk is not worth the few pennies I might save. I also consider myself honest, but I guess I'm not that honest since I never made good on that loaf of bread.
And they don't always watch given that I sometimes have to track down an employee when the self-checkout thinks there's a problem. Usually they just clear the register without checking to make sure I didn't cheat.
I believe that Honesty through paranoia is a real thing. Of course sometimes they really are watching. You can never know for sure unless you try, right?
Of course that's not going to stop everyone. Even before self-checkout some people would switch price tags, barcodes or just stuff more expensive merchandise into cheaper packaging. And then there's what's called "sweethearting" where the cashier just cooperates with the thief and doesn't ring certain things up properly if at all.
Don't kid yourself. Shoplifting and other forms of theft are a real problem all over the world. There are people who actually make a living at it.

Even cashiers are being automated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
At one time Walmart pushed vendors to put RFID in all items. They hoped to remove checkout lines - fill your basket and walk out the door.
Maybe technology has moved that magic step forward. Plus the world is **ready** for this - we've all been using self-checkout stations for awhile now --- and many of us are still waiting in the Thanksgiving lines at Walmart.

Re:and Eve fucked her son in Christian Bible. WYP?
I guessed you are a Muslim. That accounts for your disgusting anti-Semitism before. After your anti-Semitism you then want to play the Muslim Brotherhood's phony "islamophobia" card because you can't make an actual argument.
Islam is FICTION and is FALSE. You have been lied to. All I'm doing is telling you the truth. You can choose to live a lie if you want, despite being shown the truth. That proves you do not seek the truth. Few Muslims do, and the ones that do leave Islam forever. Because of you maniacs they do it quietly, since you want to kill 'apostates' for accepting the truth rather than the backward, plagiarized Iron Age superstition invented by Caliph Abd al-Malik to control you.
The satellite photos in this video do not lie, the story of Islam's beginnings is just that, a story.
"An Historical Critique of Islam's Beginnings"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...It's obvious that you know shit about Muslims and Islam in general. You're just mindlessly regurgitating islamophobic crap that you've read somewhere else in order to make them the Other.
Actually, it is bad-tempered, reality-denying, anti-Semitic, non-integrating, Sharia-supremacists like you that make yourself "The Other". It is you who has hung yourself in the court of public opinion in Slashdot. You did it all to yourself. All I did is point out the truth, that Islam is FICTION and is FALSE, and stood back while you went berserk, made racist statements, accused me and every other atheist as being "thick", insulted Christians and played the OIC/Muslim Brotherhood scam of "islamophobia" with no basis in fact.
You did this all to yourself in front of millions of Slashdot readers, despite me giving you the opportunity of civil discourse. But you have shown exactly how crazy Muslims get when their mythological founder 'Mohammed' (the guy who raped Abu Bakr's 6 year old daughter Aisha, as well as raping his adopted son's wife because he liked incest - read the hadith) is exposed using your own scriptures that you don't think the rest of us know nor understand. Because Islam is fiction your sky ghost Allah and the mythological Al Mahdi cannot save you from the ill will you are generating around the World. Islam is dying, you just don't know it yet because most Muslims who learn the truth won't tell you they have accepted the truth, that Islam is a fiction and mythology. Because Islam is fiction it means the things you doing are not 'good' because the mythology tells you to do them, but are in fact, deeply evil.
Accept the truth, Islam is FICTION and is thus FALSE. Or descend into madness of the illusion. I don't care either way - my job is done when I present the archeological evidence to you. Whether you continue to live the lie and be a bad person who chooses the evil cult over reality as a result is up to you.

Or editing what people said to convey the opposite message?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-8Cn6boqcA
Are these all accidents?
Anyhow, my point would be to look at the actual facts in a story (if any) and totally filter out the opinion and predictions. The source of facts doesn't matter, what really matters is whether they're verifiable or not. Trying to rebut facts with opinions doesn't work. It just makes that person look dumb. This does require more actual thinking, though.

Re:Respect isn't negated by lust
I never quite understood the competitive attitude of other guys toward sex, like it's a contest to nail the hottest girl at the party and you get points everytime you "score."
I'm much more the sensitive, lovey-dovey '70s let's-get-it-on type, but I also understand one size doesn't fit all. Some people treat sex strictly as recreation, and use other people for their own pleasure. As long as both parties consent, let 'em go at it. Who am I to say that's wrong?
Reminds me of when Chris Elliott found out on Get a Life that his girlfriend didn't really love him.
Are you saying that you just used me like a piece of common, household cheese?

Re:Examples?
The only fake news site (besides CNN el oh el) I saw this election paraded around was the same one NPR talked about after the election. I think it was abcnews.com.co, and it's actually made by a lefty to "prove" how right-wingers will fall for stupid shit. Now, I am a right-winger, and when you sign up for the right your welcoming kit includes a firmly affixed tinfoil hat. So every time I saw something from that site posted to a right-wing forum or comments section, immediately people would respond "that's fake, don't spread that around." So lefty makes fake news, posts it to right-wing sites himself, right-wingers reject it, and then he goes to NPR and says "lol right wingers are dumb because I posted my fake news on their forums." It's the "hurr durr I was just pretending to be retarded" meme.
You would think if this evil russian propaganda were so widespread one could post a screenshot of one of the fake stories and give us some context. "Oh, Putin wants people to think X, so here's his fake site where he posted this story, and here it is being propagated around the net..." Nope. I wonder why they can't show us anything like that? Really gets the old noggin' joggin', huh?
-
Re:PropOrNot
Prove him wrong then.
If you want your mind blown look into how many news organizations actually 'do the news'. They buy it from other organizations. Then just read it word for word. Conan has several videos that show it to good effect. Very little to no vetting is done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?... Also 'the left' has the emails of the guy running the campaign saying how to collude with the news. How to cut people off if they stray. How to make sure 'they are not happy'.
I personally do not read much, if any of it. At this point it seems to be a few billionaires fighting out their ideology with us as pawns. There is very little actual 'news' on many of those stations and papers. There is however, an overabundance of opinion. I can get one of those for myself and not have someone tell me what it should be.
You want to defend them. That is natural. They have been guiding you in your life for years. They are like a comfortable shirt. But you need to look at said shirt and realize it smells and has a big hole in it.

Re:The litmus test
You assume, without evidence, that people actually believe clickbait. No, what people actually believe is when people present evidence. When they do real investigations, which have all but stopped for budgetary reasons.
And no, this wasn't an understandable wrong opinion. That was horribly, badly wrong by someone who should have known better. Given that it tended to cover up CNN's own misdeeds, I'm not having an easy time writing that off as a mere mistake. As someone else put it, "false exculpatory statements are used for what?"

I think the answer is obvious3D printing is still fiddly, complex, error-prone, expensive and slow.
FDM style printers (the cheapest kind) require wrapping your head around calibration, nozzle diameters, temperatures, slices, alignments, supports, bed heating, the properties of PLA / ABS and all the rest. If you're lucky you'll set the printer going and hours later your efforts will yield some crudely finished single colour part. If you're unlucky you'll come back to discover something that has skewed left, warped on its base, or turned into some dante-esque spider's web that has stuck to everything.
Maybe SLA is better? Well it certainly yields better parts for sure (assuming it cured properly, but then you also must have space for a wash station. And all the sticky, smelly gunk resins to work with that get on EVERYTHING. Beyond that you've got stuff like SLS, SLM etc where things get more interesting. But now we're talking industrial equipment with the costs and power consumption to match.
I think the most likely form of 3D printing to take off is one which hasn't gotten much press - laminate printers. The price has to come down much more than where it is to be consumer attractive but I think that's viable.

Re:Thoughtcrime
Did you not know about Presidential Study Directive-11 where the Obama regime's absolutely consistent policy is to advance the Muslim Brotherhood
http://www.washingtontimes.com...If you want to why the Left are doing this then the late, great Middle East analyst Barry Rubin explains during question time. I'm guessing you don't know the hand of Obama's pick Ben Rhodes in all this, right ?
"Barry Rubin: Assessing Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood "
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...Do you think that "Modern Liberals" of the Left are about Individual Liberty? ROFL ! No, they are about State Power (which actually means, rule by 'elites' which necessarily involves destruction of the Individual Liberty championed by the Classic Liberals of the Limited Government political Right).
Since socialism has failed, utterly, in dozens of countries but the control freak elites still desire power they need a way to gain that power. Their solution is 'population replacement' which imports Third Worlders who don't care about Individual Liberty and always vote for more taxpayer handouts and bigger Government. In the US this is achieved by bringing in Latin Americans - which is why the Left opposes existing enforcing border and immigration law. In Europe this is achieved by opening the borders to the hijra (Islamic invasion by immigration).
Here is the history of the Muslim Brotherhood and it's connection to US anti-Communist groups.
Both the Left and the Right have used the Muslim Brotherhood. The Communist Socialists used them in the Middle East against the Israelis and the US. The US used them in Afghanistan against the Soviets. In each case the Brotherhood gained strength.
Today the Left are using the Brotherhood in Europe and as advisors in the White House, and the Right opposes the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamists in general. I understand your need to deny this reality. If you ever understood that you are on the wrong side of history, and enabling the destruction of Enlightenment Civilization your unearned image of yourself as 'the good guy' would dissolve. Thus, the psychological resolution is for you to practice 'cognitive dissonance' where you will deny what the Left is doing in order to preserve your mental self-image. Hence you point out a historical example of the Right continuing the Left's policy of using jihadis, while ignoring the Left using the jihadis to start new wars (all benefiting the Muslim Brotherhood).
So, will you be happy when Islamist Keith Ellison becomes head of the DNC? you've been programmed to value 'diversity' as a good in of itself, so of course you will cheer when an Islamist heads up your team, amirite ? you'll pat yourself on the back for 'transcending' common sense and putting those who advance Islamic Sharia ahead of Enlightenment Civilization.
As I have been saying, the Leftist-Islamist "Red-Green Axis" is now obvious to anyone paying attention. The Left intends to use a Muslim voting bloc to gain power and to smash resistance from existing citizens. That is why they are desperate to import Muslims en-masse and to appease the Muslim Brotherhood. Given your hatred of Individualist Classic Liberals who resist the dominance of the Big State it is a surprise you don't welcome this move by the Leftist elites - you statements show youare working for them, after all.

Re:and Eve fucked her son in Christian Bible. WYP?
Once you understand the Islamic Doctrine of Abrogation
Oh, I do understand. I understand you're as full of it as someone saying Christians believe in rape victims being forced to marry their rapists, "because the Bible says so".
Please. The difference is that hundreds of millions of mainstream Muslims (very possibly even the majority) believe in the doctrine of abrogation because without it, they would be left with even more contradictions in their perfect book.
It's also worth noting that Christians never had such a tool beyond the occasional weak and wishywashy appeal to the fact that Jesus' covenant superseded what the Jews had with Moses... but that left open the question of whether anything from the old testament was still valid (including the ten commandments and the extra-strong condemnation of things like homosexuality), so in the end each contradiction had to be individually tackled and the arbitrariness of this endeavor is one of the things that allowed so much innovation (something that is considered a major sin in Islam) and heterodoxy in interpretation with few rational or literary tools available to those who wanted to intellectually argue theirs was the one true way.
But that wasn't even your point, was it? You were comparing Muslims who believe in abrogation of verses to Christians who believe that rape victims should be forced to marry their rapists, i.e. comparing the beliefs of a tiny sliver of a minority (discounting perhaps one or two African hellholes) compared to a mainstream belief held by hundreds of millions of Muslims.
For your own sanity and for the cause I assume you champion, I recommend you be a little less lazy or hyperbolic in your comparisons. The world already has quite enough people saying that Christianity and Islam are, at this exact point in time, basically the same and certainly equally dangerous, and this laughable attitude has already done untold damage to almost every single western democracy, particularly in the form of the right-wing reaction against it. -

Re: Those who something, something
The thing about Christianity is that it has the shitty, barbaric God first (The Old Testament), followed by the loving God second (The New Testament). That's why you had to go to the Old Testament to get the barbaric bits. In the New Testament, Jesus says to be virtuous, to love one another, and to not resist evil. He's a hippie (without the free love).
With Islam, it's reversed. There's a peaceful, no compulsion in religion period, followed a war-mongering, tyrannical period under which Islam spreads. Contradictions in instruction are resolved by giving the latter period priority.
"Dr. Bill Warner - Why Are People Afraid"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?..."Islam has bloody borders."
http://www.the-american-intere..."Nevertheless, there is a problem that goes back to the very beginnings of Muslim history: From the time that the first Muslims established themselves as the rulers of Medina, Islam was a political and increasingly a legal system as well as a faith. In Medina Muhammad continued to be a prophet, but he also became the head of a state and a military leader. With the exception of Southeast Asia (where Islam was spread by traders from the the subcontinent), what we now know as the Muslim world was established by conquest. It is no accident that in traditional Muslim thought the world is divided into two spheres--the realm of Islam (dar ul-Islam) and the realm of war (dar ul-harb). Put simply, it is assumed that the border between Islamic rule and the rest of the world marks a state of war, even if periods of armistice are possible. One should be cognizant of the important fact that there are Muslim thinkers today who are reformulating the nature of Islamic law (sharia) and of Islamic war (jihad) in a much more liberal manner. But one must also recognize that there is a weighty tradition to the contrary and that a large number of Muslims, possibly the majority, does not favor these reformulations."

I understand your argument
You're saying that the value of a job isn't as important of the purchasing power created from its wages. And as I said, I generally agree that we have more purchasing power. You don't need to justify that point any further or defend it with an Economics 101 lesson. (While I'm not an economist, I am a mathematician, who, as such, is inclined to tell you that "you and ten people" is eleven people total, though your math indicates a labor pool of ten. Try not to fail mathematics when you argue mathematics.) Arguing about purchasing power being up when median income isn't is like a patient telling his doctor that he's not worried about his cholesterol levels because he exercises everyday and feels fit. In both cases, there are indications that things aren't as healthy as they seem.
I disagree that purchasing power alone, apart from job value, is the only metric worth evaluating. And you already gave the reason why: The existence of capital induces demand for products, which induces a demand for labor. Median income measures the strength salaries have to pay for products and services, which induces job creation. It matters significantly. So when lower-wage jobs replace higher-pay jobs*, when existing jobs producing the same product pay less to laborers, and when jobs move to overseas markets where labor is cheaper, less demand for labor is induced. Less demand for labor creates less demand for work, restricting access to capital among laborers, which restricts their access to goods and services, decreasing quality of life. All this happens, even if our purchasing power has risen relative to median income.
Also, I found your labor force statistics fascinating. Honestly. Though I'd like to know their source.
Finally, I don't disagree people want security, but they want it through a job. People find value in work. If you don't believe me, visit with some blue-collar workers, and listen to Mike Rowe's take on it.
* For example, manufacturing jobs are down, while Leisure and Hospitality jobs are up. It doesn't take an economist to tell you that they don't pay the same. And this is happening in labor pools across the country.

Re:That can't be right
Let's consider just one statistic - workforce participation as a percentage of the population. Around the year 2000 it was about 67%, it has been fairly steadily declining since 2008 from about 67% to 63%...
In other words, 4% less of the working age population is employed.
I'll just mention in passing things like the majority of newly-created jobs being part-time, wages being stagnant for the last 8 years, and a national debt that has increased from an "unpatriotic" $11 Trillion under President Bush to nearly $20 Trillion after 8 years of President Obama...
That is what passes for "generally positive economic growth"?

and Eve fucked her son in Christian Bible. WYP?
Once you understand the Islamic Doctrine of Abrogation
Oh, I do understand. I understand you're as full of it as someone saying Christians believe in rape victims being forced to marry their rapists, "because the Bible says so".

Koran 9:29
Once you understand the Islamic Doctrine of Abrogation (later verses replace earlier verses of the Koran) then you will see that Koran 9:29 is the only verse that really matters to non-Muslims. It commands that Islam take over the World until everyone has submitted to the rule of Sharia and the supremacy of Islam.
Islam is NOT founded on what we would call 'ethical good' but instead is based on the supremacy of Allah over all others. So mass rape and murder is considered 'good' because Allah clearly commands Muslims do these to the hated kaffir unbelievers (non-Muslims).
Thus, Islam cannot be refuted on the basis of natural morality. Pointing out Mohammed was evil (from the Western point of view) will not change the mind of many Muslims. The only way to beat Islam is to point out the truth, that Islam is FICTION. The archeological record shows Islam's claims about its origins CANNOT BE TRUE. Thus, Islam is FICTION and is FALSE. To understand the archeology see:
"An Historical Critique of Islam's Beginnings"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...Muslims don't report other jihadi Muslims because war against the despised infidel non-Muslims is the 'will of Allah'. Killing non-Muslims is not considered evil but is 'good' by definition, since Allah wills it.
Islam will only be defeated when the World understands that it is FICTION and is FALSE. Mohammed is a mostly mythological figure invented to advance Arab Imperialism, and Islam was invented by Arab Imperialists to counterbalance the Christianity of the Byzantines and Zoroastrianism of the Persians. Islam is false, so people should stop arguing about what Mohammed said or didn't say - the fact is that Mohammed is mostly FICTION (the earliest depictions of a person with the title Mohammed shows a Christian cross, which Arab Imperialists would later reject utterly and invent a Mohammed to suits their lusts for women, wealth and conquest).

Re: Why would this concern Trump?Well, with Russia as it's back porch and Canada right next door, for all practical purposes...

Re:Here come the science deniers
So after ruining so many lives, the whole massive money machine is slowly being whittled away. Good f'ing riddance.
It really shows the 'state of control' has no concern for the populous and will instead make laws to increase their power for political reasons no matter how much harm it does to the community.
By the way, if your pain has an inflammation component, you should try fish oil if you don't already take it.
I have taken it in the past as it helps keep me limber and sleep for training - wow more excellent advice, I will pick that back up. This is my sincere gratitude...
A brain is a terrible thing to waste... Mind? That's debatable.
:)Have you ever listened to 'Them Crooked Vultures'? this song is called Mind Eraser, No Chaser and has your sig in the lyrics, I hope you enjoy it
