Anti-Tesla Pickup Truck Drivers Take Over a Supercharger Station -- Again (electrek.co)
An anonymous reader quotes Electrek:
In what is quickly becoming a problem for some Tesla drivers, pickup truck drivers have again taken over a Supercharger station and yelled profanities in what appears to be an act of protest against Tesla. Earlier this month, we reported on a strange situation at Tesla's Hickory Supercharger in North Carolina where three large pickup trucks blocked access to the station and reportedly chanted "F*** Tesla"....
Now it looks like it's becoming a trend since another Reddit user spotted pickup truck drivers taking over another Tesla Supercharger. They reportedly were also yelling profanities to Tesla owners coming to charge at the Supercharger station.
Electrek also cites one Tesla owner's reports of being "coal rolled" -- intentionally targetted with extra black exhaust fumes from specially-modified engines.

One would assume that these redneck asshats are huge supporters of the 2nd Amendment. The next time they do it, grab a few Tesla owning friends and go in there guns-a-blazing. That'll be the last fucking time that happens.
No better way to convince people they're wrong/dumb than being an asshole to them. These truckers should run for office
... because Tesla is doing a fine job of fucking itself.
* Late deliveries.
* Panel gaps that look like the cars were built by a high school shop class after the class had a keg party.
* Musk, who insists on making public remarks which are likely to cause most of the public to have negative feelings toward Musk.
* Prices which will very soon look like a bad joke compared to the competition, which is going to come from car companies which have a depth of
engineering talent that Tesla cannot hope to match.
* And did I mention that Musk is a raging narcissistic prick ?
I and many others who are not ever going to block a charging station do not have good feelings about Tesla, for very solid reasons.
Tesla will go down the toilet with no interference from dumbass rednecks in pickup trucks required.
Just wait and see.
I hope they rolled coal on those dumbass testard drivers too. Fuck Tesla. Fuck all liberals.
If it isn't a tow away zone then somebody screwed up.
some 'no unauthorized parking. violators will be towed' signage with crazy high towing and 'storage' fees (high as legally allowed) posted and some cameras.
anytime someone that isn't a tesla owner parks there, alert someone at tesla to verify via video.. then call tow trucks (plus police if vehicles are not unattended).
split the proceeds with the tow companies. the cops get all that sweet civil forfeiture.. drugs or guns likely, money even, plus pad their monthly tallies for citations written.. illegal vehicle modifications, owi/dwi (even when parked it's usually illegal), no insurance, improper display of plates, parole/probation violations or whatever else these hicks can get nailed for.. trucks like that parked in a tesla lot is fish in a barrel.
Take our your cell phone, take pictures of the trucks (and license plates if you can). Then call the police and report that trucks are blocking a public entrance. When the cops finally show up, show them the pictures and file a report.
How hard is that?
Or I guess you could just pull out your guns and have a showdown. Seriously are people this stupid?
Redneck trump supporters being total dickheads. Not surprised by this at all.
If EV and hybrid drivers would back off on the smug factor, the problem would go away. ...but given what I generally see from that crowd, the smugness will only grow and they will reap what they sew.
They're protesting smug urban bigots getting subsidized sports cars. They're not wrong.
Tag numbers are publicly posted info. If similar happens to you, get clear license plate pics. Then splatter them over the internet so others may be warned of these criminals.
Ban them! Ban them all noowww! Outlaw black smoke, pickups, any interference with anything Tesla anywhere on Earth and DO IT YESTERDAY OMGWTF!!1
"Coal-fired Republican nazi trash is upset at urban vehicles, news at 11, wah"
First they ignore Tesla
Then they laugh at Tesla
Then they fight Tesla <--
Then Tesla wins
I suspect that it's a ploy to dissuade buying electric by presenting a "Electric car owners will be bullied" sentiment. I have no doubt it's orchestrated as I am sure the drivers or the utes have better things to do really.
The inevitable EV revolution is being attacked on many fronts.
What exactly do the truck drivers think they’re accomplishing? And what do they think they’re protesting?
I realize these guys are likely not the brightest bulbs in the box... but seriously, they must have at least a vaguely-defined reason they are choosing to do this.
#DeleteChrome
We have quite a few of those recharging station at the malls and railroad stations around here, 16 within 2 miles of me..... never seen them blocked by anything or anyone, ever.
Nice, have these idiots vehicles legally towed and let them enjoy their ridiculous impound fees that most communities have. Maybe they'll direct their far right rage towards the bullshit government attitude towards the privatization of impound lots. Your car was towed on a Friday? Good luck low income person being able to afford getting your car out of impound on Monday.
I ignore Anonymous Coward posts. If you want to discuss something, that's awesome. Log in.
Do Tesla drivers care about Americans?
https://www.businessinsider.co...
So this has happened twice, and during those times worse behavior occurs on demand (i.e. they cuss people out when they approach the chargers) and yet there's no cellphone video of the perps?
but they're probably angry at technocrat elites. If they're blue collar types odds are good they listen to right wing media which is often on the warpath against silicon valley and the like. Plus if they're blue collar then odds are good they're not doing so hot economically since blue collar types got hammered in the last recession and never really recovered.
Still, I could be totally wrong. Like the author if TFA I'd love to just ask them why.
Hi! I make Firefox Plug-ins. Check 'em out @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-mp3-podcaster/
If people can block freeways in protest, what can't ordinary citizens deny the public access to?
Tesla: Why are you blocking the entrance? ...
Redneck: Go home, fag!
Tesla: OK, I'm gay. But why?
Redneck: Fuck you!
Tesla: You still haven't answered my question
Redneck: Go home, fag!
Tesla: What is the problem exactly?
Redneck: You're ruining America!
Tesla: How's that?
Redneck: Go home, fag!
It's pretty much what you would expect from a state that was basically one of the major players in slavery.
When NC comes to SF or NYC begging for investments and tech job creation to help get their hill billy economy off the ground, just remind them that no educated skilled worker wants to live in a place where people behave like that.
IIRC, people dropped rocks from overpasses on early Japanese imports that were on the roads of North America.
And their kids drive Toyotas, Hondas, and now those upstarts from Korea, Hyundais.
Blather, rinse, repeat.
Big truck drivers must not have much to do. I wonder how long they waited for somebody to actually wanna use those chargers? Must have been a sale on Copenhagen and Budwieser.
In TFA, Tesla driver reports “took them 10 minutes or so and one of them did that ‘I’m going to hit you’ maneuver after circling the parking lot.”
WTF is a ‘I’m going to hit you’ maneuver?
You are being ripped off every second of every day, so that advertisers can help rip you off even more tomorrow.
Well, they have to ask for them you know. Jobs donâ(TM)t collect on the sidewalk duh
These rednecks are angry because they're stupid and lazy. They are pissed because they expect life to be easy for them because... Instead, they're the dumbshits who choose to ignore school and hard work and now are angry that the nerds are doing so much better in life than they are. I dealt with these people as a kid, but never as an adult. What a bunch of stupid dipshits.
I don't respond to AC's.
call in the cops, tear gas the lot of em.
Actually I think you dont have a clue how taxes work.
What the grantparent said is true. Both teslas and charging stations are subsidized by taxes.
As of course are a lot of other things, however it does not make it untrue.
Someone is going to die.
Whether it's a pregnant woman being driven to hospital in a Tesla dying of complications, a kid getting hit by something thrown, raised tempers turning ugly, someone failing to stop in time for the parked cars...
And the truckers will deny it has anything to do with them. Legally, they'd probably be right. Blood on innocent hands.
The Tesla drivers will deny any blame, too, if it's a case of raised tempers. Stand your ground is a legal defence.
It wouldn't matter if they had to stack the bodies in a double 40' trailer. Nobody's guilty here, your honor.
Who the hell gives a shit what you think of such and such a political ideology that nobody here can define anyway. Who the hell cares what you think of Tesla or truckers?
Is the absolute certainty of accidental death of someone who has nothimg to do with either side a desired outcome? This isn't whatiffery, this is guaranteed if these incidents keep happening.
At what point is it more important to find and apply a fix than to whine about the bug?
My guess is never. The days when getting things done mattered are long over.
Now get off my lawn!
It's a small world and it smells funny; I'd buy another if it wasn't for the money; Take back what I paid (SoM)
Hillbillies and yahoos know no better. This just reveals that they have seen the writing in the wall, and that they are shitting in their pants.
In what is quickly becoming a problem for some Tesla drivers
It's happened TWICE - that's the same number of times Hillary lost her bid for President...
Let's not over-react.
Ken
Do they actually think the Tesla owners are going to say, “Gosh fellas, you’re right. I’m going to sell my Tesla today and buy a Ford pickup.”?
I'm a suburbanite and I've been driving a hybrid Camry since 2007 and I like it.
But I don't think that insulting these truck owners (or vice versa) is going to help anybody.
I think that electric vehicles pose a very real threat to the jobs and the future of many rural Americans, who feel that their work depends on trucks, cars, vehicle repair, oil, oil equipment, coal, scrap yards, etc, etc.
That is especially the case today, when Tesla has been publicizing the success of their SELF-DRIVING electric SEMI-trucks. Tesla says that in a convoy, they are more energy efficient than trains. They even have a standing order for HUNDREDS of these new trucks from Walmart, rural America's love/hate store/employer.
For years, the only way that a rural American could escape and see the world was to either drive a truck or work on the railroad.
Its a fundamental part of American culture, and it doesn't escape these people that Tesla's development poses a tangible threat to that way of life.
There are political and economic solutions that could provide jobs AND save the environment, but its not going to happen by spewing all this filth.
"I think that electric vehicles pose a very real threat to the jobs and the future of many rural Americans" = You living in a ridiculously limited paradigm, making excuses for being unable to adapt to reality and/or progress, essentially.
If rural America can't figure out what to do outside of a coal mine, I guess we need a war for them to die in. #Solved.
When you can't find an obvious reason, look for who stands to gain. Traditional auto companies have been fighting a delaying battle against Tesla for years. Tesla is way ahead of them in an area they know they will eventually have to compete in. Plus Tesla is one of the most short-sold companies in history. Doesn't take much to spark a temporary fluctuation in stock prices.
I would be astonished if there weren't some of these motives behind this. Likely a combination - a lot of those who have short positions on Tesla are funded by traditional auto.
This is the same kind of FUD Microsoft tried against Linux with SCO. No different.
No, I think there are plenty of other jobs that rural America can easily adapt to. Obvious ones are solar, wind farming, growing biofuels,
I requires political leaders who can win people over to a new view of the future.
I think trolling "Anonymous Cowards" like you, who stick everyone into a "category", and flippantly pose war as the solution don't help very much.
But we will learn to ignore you.
I don't think that insulting these truck owners (or vice versa) is going to help anybody.
Fuck these fragile snowflakes who are so afraid of change that they'll go park their trucks in front of another guy's filling station. That's small ball. You don't see Tesla owners blockading filling stations.
They don't get to be assholes and expect that anyone will listen to them. The American Yahoo is something to be derided and mocked. I've met them - if you aren't like them, you're their plaything or their enemy. They'll screw you mercilessly if they have an angle, and they'll laugh to their buddies about it later.
For years, the only way that a rural American could escape and see the world was to either drive a truck or work on the railroad. Its a fundamental part of American culture, and it doesn't escape these people that Tesla's development poses a tangible threat to that way of life.
Railways will continue to exist. Trucks will continue to exist. The rednecks will still be able to hoot and holler and do doughnuts in walmart parking lots at midnight. Soon they'll be able to stagger out of their shitty bars and have their trucks drive them home without the usual DUI along the way. You don't need to be doing the driving to see the country.
I think that electric vehicles pose a very real threat to the jobs and the future of many rural Americans, who feel that their work depends on trucks, cars, vehicle repair, oil, oil equipment, coal, scrap yards, etc, etc.
The fact is, moving goods around and monkey-wrenching are not going to be fallback jobs for Joe Schmoe anymore. They only ever paid reasonably well because they're shit jobs that no one with half a brain wants. Those jobs will go away, because it's cheaper and more pleasant to deal with a self-driving vehicle than it is to deal with Joe Schmoe. Time for Joe to do something with his life.
Nothing like attacking a minority for no real reason.
I doubt it, at least until the uber-Troll-in-Chief goes off to prison and we stop ALLOWING the Republican faggots to gaslight the rest of America with their anti-science, anti-education, anti-law, anti-professional regime.
So you're half right, you just don't know how to point out the elephant in the room like it requires to be acknowledged and dealt with.
Amiably agree to just split, no civil war necessary. The middle and the South get their "news" from Fox, Breitbart, and AM pundits; and thus have a completely different view of gov't and reality.
Why keep clashing with them over pollution, healthcare, science, etc.? Just fucking split. Let them have their own reality to themselves.
Table-ized A.I.
and look at the pictures they took of the trucks doing it. Those aren't hillbilly trucks. In the first picture they were late models, MSRPs starting at $27k. The second picture it was 2 SUVs and 1 pickup with a pricey looking lift kit. Second pick somebody had the hood popped and was working on something, so it mighta just been somebody who had a breakdown, first picture looked legit though and it's probably just middle class blue collar guys pissed off at the elites they keep hearing about on Fox News or one of Sinclair media's Fox News wannabes.
Hi! I make Firefox Plug-ins. Check 'em out @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-mp3-podcaster/
Tesla is the first American car company that I can be proud of. I never felt pride toward GM nor Ford nor Chrysler, but I feel proud of Tesla.
These coal-rolling assholes should perhaps stop dedicating themselves to pollution and contempt, and think of Tesla as the vanguard of American automotive ingenuity.
I grew up a hillbilly, so I know connecting the dots is not the easiest for some folk. But, I don't see a world where protesting a charging station makes any sense or accomplishes anything significant.
These North Carolina pickup drivers really took the time and effort to block Tesla drivers from charging their cars?
Don't these pickup truck drivers have anything better to do, like impregnating their sisters/daughters/mothers? I mean, it is the South, after all.
to drag jumbo jets around to taxi....
The morons complaining at teslas are trash and since they are an existential threat and the USA has in many states laws allowing you to protect yourself from aggression with lethal force, they should be removed for the general public safety.
If this causes the police some worry, just take some boot polish to the rednecks' faces and blacken them up, the police won't give a shit then.
The "facts" are bullshit and irrelevant. It's a fact that the year is longer than 360 days, but such facts, despite scaring you shitless, is rather irrelevant.
And now that the rednecsk are being treated as they treat others, suddenly it's mean.... right....
Moron. What do you think sets the price of oil? The government would do it if they demanded a payment in flat currency for the oil, since that would be the base price for sale of that oil. So the government is not doing that, they charge a tax to pay for the resource that the companies took from the public. That way the market finds the "market price" without government intervention.
Fucking clueless libertard moron.
Seems like conservatives don't actually have faith in the free market. If they really believed electric will fail, why intervene?
Those who do not learn from commit history are doomed to regress it.
How we have been killing the planet and how it triggers more and more disasters that will kill us all off
https://ourworldindata.org/wp-...
If I needed to use the pumps and it was blocked, I would park in front of the truck so it cannot move. can't help it if the batteries died.
Are the entrances to Malls therefore ALSO possible to block? No. Because "it's muh prifate properly!!!" is a load of irrelevant bollocks.
Funny thing is those same people putting their own personal progress against that of the human race. Funny how the same group of people are among the bible belt's 'finest'. These people need to unfuck themselves and go find a job that actually works in the 21st century.
So hard right now..
Block the pickup with a steam tractor.
Tesla announced self-driving electric semis a while ago. Many of them are on the hook for debt on their trucks. Many truckers get into the business because they don't perceive many other options for jobs they're qualified for. So when a company announces they plan on replacing you, your truck, and their primary source of income
I dunno. Maybe you take it personally? Productive? Maybe not. But when you don't feel you have other options, one of the points of public protest is to bring media attention to the issue. They don't have polished PR staff on retainer, so there you go. They are getting media attention. Maybe a reporter will have a slow news day and run what's going on in their minds. Maybe they'll have a good point, maybe not. That's how this works.
Just a few occurrences so obviously it is some sort of local grudge. The list of possible ways the Tesla owners could have ticked someone off is too long spend time on. Just call the cops or the media and cause a scene, then we'll know what dickhead action the Tesla drivers did to tick them off and it will get some national publicity.
> think that electric vehicles pose a very real threat to
> the jobs
BFD. To use the buzzword... cloud computing posed a "very real threat" to traditional "rack 'em & stack 'em"-style IT & operations jobs. In fact, it basically killed them; unless you want to be a datacenter tech for Amazon or Google. But who cares? We all just learned our ways around AWS, GCP, and Terraform. Problem solved. Hell... I call it an improvement. I'd not realized, before updating my own skill set, how much Id grown to view mucking about with hardware to be the least-fulfilling and most-annoying part of the job.
It's not, after all, like Teslas never break down or malfunction. The skillset needed when the do is simply different; that's all. It's not like mechanics, and the like, can afford not to keep their skills up already. Working on a modern Mercedes turbo-diesel is a far different deal from keeping a '95 Civic on the road. Moving up to a Tesla is just the next step up or right on the skills tree.
Imagine all the people...
They probably wanted to do it near the border, but don't get good enough gas mileage to get that far.
Hint for you: Unless you strip your license plates and wear a baklava first, expect that a security camera somewhere nearby will identify you, and your car, and either they will set up a sting, or just send you a ticket in the mail, like they already do with red light tickets.
The era of doing anything unnoticed in public in America is rapidly coming to a close. The security apparatus has too much of a hardware for pervasive surveillance, and the common pleb too little understanding of just how much longer it will take to roll it out everywhere of (economic) importance eventually including areas of economic importance to citation writing, at which point everything you do, saw, or enjoy will be taxed mercilessly with no way out except emigration or suicide. And they may take emigration away from you if you're not careful.
Also, Luddites (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luddite)
What did you expect?
Is there anything in the terms when buying a Tesla which allows Tesla to run a license-plate scanner in every Tesla car looking for these people (which may owe them compensation for using the charger station without being a customer)? - I am not suggesting they should do it, but could they?
If word gets out that trucks parked there are frequently getting scratched or otherwise damaged, this trend will stop quickly.
home of the stupid bullies.
Trump as a President fits perfectly.
They don't strike me as being a trucking demographic, but more of a mom's basement demographic.
The pickup protesters in the story probably see a row of EV charger parking spaces as being "stolen" from them. It's the same people who resent seeing handicapped spaces. The boutique mall next to me now has a row of ten Tesla spaces, off to one side so there is less conflict with the ICE population.
Just like the glitter bomb guy, fake as fuck. And all of you people fall for it over and over again. It's no wonder what passes for reality TV.
How much more quickly do you need it to be?
This is a global disaster in the making!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truck drivers and shipping operators are a dying industry that does nothing but create losses for shareholders and should honestly be replaced with robots
Seriously, check the stock of any shipping company. Nearly all of them have lost 90+% of their value decades ago, never recovered, and continue just forever sliding downwards.
One of the largest US freight companies YRCW's stock used to be ~$250,000/share. It's now $3.58/share
I realize that this is a touchy subject, but can we please agree that anyone who deliberately tunes their truck so that it will produce more pollution so that they can show off for other intelligence-challenged individuals should lose their reproductive rights? And preferably, their reproductive organs? As a diesel owner, they make me look bad. As a human, they make us all look bad. Plus, I like breathing, and they're spewing HCs which interfere with that.
Coal-rollers are the lowest form of vehicle owner.
"You're right," Fisheye says. "I should have set it on 'whip' or 'chop.'"
I really don't get why they are writing "Juden" storefronts. What do they think that is going to accomplish?
man, if only they could write, they could have just written a sign that says "tesla, when are we gonna get electrical trucks!?" and all this misjudgment could have been avoided ...
I live in the Midwest, and one major supermarket has like a dozen Tesla charging stations. I have yet to see one EV use one, but I have seen plenty of people call them out as a waste on money and space. Most people who really need trucks to do work and haul stuff won't ever buy a Tesla pickup. Not because they don't embrace all electric. But I have not seen any argument that a Tesla pickup really can do what the others can.
if the bros driving those trucks were real men they would have backed into the spaces. What sort of truck driving sissy parks a truck nose in?
They should all be driving Priuses.
Probably paid by El Mush to get some media attraction.
Instead of traitorous slime like Soros paying "protestors" and "instigators" there's some red-blooded Americans like Ford doing it.
"...if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” - Maxine Waters
"at a gasoline station"...hmmm? Maybe it isn't a good idea to incite that kind of activity.
Knuckle-dragging redneck blocks Tesla charging stall with his giant metallic penis extension.
Tesla owner makes call to MuskCorp customer services.
A few minutes later, a tungsten rod drops from orbit, straight through the engine block of the offending pickup. The sad wrecked remains of the pickup are then towed to the impound.
Do not fuck with the customers of a guy who has his own space program.
While it is doubtful that many Tesla owners are also Antifa and rioted along with the rest of the cock sucking losers after the election and up to this day, It is almost assured that Telsa owners at the very least implicitly support those cock sucking losers. Further, that they will defend assaults, arson, and riots as a form of protest.
It is almost 100% that Tela owners are also Envirowackos and would ban diesel trucks if they could.
So I find it very funny that the truck owners are doing this...a form of Karma. I also find it hypocritical that people who are undoubtedly OK with BLM and Antfi blocking streets and inconveniencing the fuck out of other, are getting their panties in a twist about not being able to charge their toy cars.
Too funny.
Musk is nothing if not clever and audacious. I'm sure he's designing a whiz-bang death-ray module for the Tesla that will handle these yahoos quite well. Of course, the unintended consequences may get out of hand.
Anyone "Rolling Coal" should be drug from their vehicle and have the face smashed in with a claw hammer until the pea-sized piece of shit in their skull they call a brain is smooshed over a 100 square foot area.

I don't understand why these folks are upset. Tesla's are made in America... so... jobs... and If EV's ever gain significant market share, the price of gas will plummet. They can fuel their trucks at rock bottom prices!

This is utter stupidity. What are they thinking? Are they thinking that pickup trucks are going to become obsolete or somesuch nonsense? LOL, no, pickup trucks will remain a staple of transportation because of their utility. Let's see how upset these pickup truck owners are when Tesla or some company that comes later starts rolling out full-size plug-in electric pickup trucks that have more horsepower than even the largest V8 ICE pickup truck has right now? That they can then have a high-capacity charging post installed at their house and not ever have to go to a gas station again? If they really want the roaring of a big internal-combustion engine to feel manly they can install a sound system to simulate it, I guess, but really, what's the problem? Nobody is going to take their trucks away from them. They can still have rifle racks in the back window and a Confederate flag flying from it all they want, huge offroad tires and jacked up all they want.
I'm disappointed to see some support expressed here for these drooling morons. This is the right wing base in all its hideous glory. These pickup drivers deserve nothing but our disgust and contempt, and maybe a week in jail with nothing to read but math and science text books.
I've calculated my velocity with such exquisite precision that I have no idea where I am.
I think that electric vehicles pose a very real threat to the jobs and the future of many rural Americans, who feel that their work depends on trucks, cars, vehicle repair, oil, oil equipment, coal, scrap yards, etc, etc.
That's just junk.
Cars have little to do with coal,
That is especially the case today, when Tesla has been publicizing the success of their SELF-DRIVING electric SEMI-trucks.
So? So has Ford. And a bunch of truck companies. Self driving vehicles are coming this is essentially inevitable and has nothing to do with vehicles being electric. All the major manufacturers are exploring the tech. So why target tesla?
They even have a standing order for HUNDREDS of these new trucks from Walmart, rural America's love/hate store/employer.
so why the anger at Tesla not Walmart?
Tesla says that in a convoy, they are more energy efficient than trains.
Smells like BS from Tesla to me.
Its a fundamental part of American culture, and it doesn't escape these people that Tesla's development poses a tangible threat to that way of life.
Rubbish. The inexorable march of technology, combined wit hcapitalism is the threat here and it's coming for good or ill. It's happening with or without Tesla, and I doubt tesla is affecting the overall timescale.
SJW n. One who posts facts.
No information how the situation was resolved.
Call the police, tow the trucks?
As for somebody yelling on your on the road: this is pretty much what road is for: for rage.

I'm a Louisiana Redneck IT dude, and I think this "Rolling Coal" bullshit is just stupid, childish, counter-productive to even their own arguments, and just plain fukkin DUMB.
Us real Southernn men are sorry for all the low-class scumbags out there making us look bad...
Put out several inflatable women dolls by the entrance to the charging station. The rednecks will get distracted and stop blocking access to the station.
Time for Tesla drivers to park in front of Diesel pumps. Sucks since it'll affect me, but tit-for-tat bitches!
Because it's illegal under California Motor Vehicle Code 22511 and 22511.1.
So many comments, and only one with the right answer.
Teslas need electricity which, in coal country, is generated by coal fired power plants. Gas cars, on the other hand, run on out-of-state oil. In other words, more Teslas mean more coal jobs.
This is, on the other hand, a mildly counter-intuitive argument for why people in coal country who care about the environment should not currently buy Teslas.
OS Software is like love: The best way to make it grow is to give it away.
Now theyre being the butt of those slurs, suddenly no longer so free speechy for it, are ya, moron?
Had Tesla been a company just focused on making a better car, it would have been one thing. Sure, pack in all the tech you want - built in navigation, connection to CarPlay/Android Auto, rearview cameras, steering controls, et al. (OTOH, Tesla is the only car that commercial towing companies refuse to handle, since impossible to access the engine should the battery die. That's the moronic concept about basing all operations on batteries, rather than allowing for mechanically accessing, say, the hood.) But Tesla coming out w/ self driving cars - a solution looking for a problem, since most people enjoy driving their cars - is one more of those 'disruptive forces' that just threatens the livelihood of truckers - one of the biggest employers in the country, while having little to give for it.
Yeah, over time, it's fine to assume that ultimately, self driving cars and trucks and planes and ships will be the norm, and that 50-100 years from now, no one will drive. However, to try and force that change now, which is what Musk, as well as companies like Uber and Lyft would love to do, only has major negative societal implications in terms of accelerating the hollowing out of the US, w/o having anything else to show for it.
It's a tesla charging station. Why would the owner of it want tesla owners to piss off you retarded redneck kidfucker??
If they were caught i front of "friends" who he pretends to be straight in front of. See Ted Haggard. The most desperate for pork whistle are those most vocally against "teh gayz".
Coal supporters are perfectly represented by these white trash. The sooner they lose their jobs the better. They wish to kill us indirectly by pollution so they deserve the same level of hate in return.

And they're frankly a load of pussies. Ol bonespurs himself is an honorary hillbilly. Show the hillbilly a black skin and they're too busy crapping their pants that your empty hand is holding a nuke detonator or some shit.

The absolute dip shitery in this MONUMENTAL.
I'm a suburbanite and I've been driving a hybrid Camry since 2007 and I like it.
But I don't think that insulting these truck owners (or vice versa) is going to help anybody.
Screw that. I'm a suburbanite and I drive an F150. These guys are the same jackasses that terrorized all of the other kids in high school. Our society would be better off if we passed laws that made engaging in this kind of behavior punishable by permanently removing them from the gene pool.
If you don't want Tesla stations blocked, then don't make premium parks Tesla stations. Put them at the far end of the car park and no-one will care, but when they're in prime positions, some people will object to others being able to buy privileges like a closer park. If you think that buying electric entitles you to privileges like this for your environmental sacrifice, you're part of the problem. Not everyone can afford, or is willing to go into debt for a Tesla.
They are blocking a parking place. If they wanted to be nasty they could:
Drop a case of screws in the charging spot.
Use a nail gun and drive a nail through a charging cable.
Take bolt cutters to charging cable.
Leave dead animals in charging spot.
Leave bear bait in a charging spot.
Pull the meter on the charging station and throw it in the river.
I'd say these people who do the real hard work in America are showing real restraint against mamby pampy Millennials and global warming alarmists. It wouldn't be hard to attack Tesla infrastructure because it has to be safe and not kill people who play with it. I bet vice grips to the end of the charging plug would do serious damage.
So take the roll coaling and the ICEing of your spots and wear them with a badge of honor, or alpha males will take it up a level.
Referring to the people doing the ICING. I'll ICE the ICErs.
My trucks got like 160k miles on it anyway. I could care less if it gets dented (again).
A small number of asshats behaving like asshats shouldn't be news. We're making far too big a deal out of this and giving the asshats far too much publicity. I'd put this up there with a situation like a handful of errant teenagers loitering around a gas station making it an unpleasant situation for motorists to gas up. People are, and will continue to be, douche bags. Someone will inevitably not like what you're doing with your life, how you spend your money, what your political affiliations are. Most folks will keep quiet and grumble to themselves, others will feel like they have to do something about it and thus express their douchebaggery in a more direct and confronting way. These idiots will eventually be bored with what they're doing and get on with their lives.
I will admit my Father drives a Pickup but, he is a farmer he has his truck for Farm things, Like most farmers he will drive and repair his truck until it needs to be replaced. As such he also can't afford to own a car as well so my parents drive the farm truck into town to get food, banking ext. This may also surprise you but most farmers are very environmentally aware (after all one bad season or storm can make them loose the farm. so they combine trips. It is a forgone conclusion that your average farmer is not parking at a fast charger or "Rolling Coal" they are too busy for that sort of thing. Parking in these lanes is childish, but so is looking down at people who drive a truck out of pure necessity.
Guns and oversized 4X4s that spew plumes of black smoke are common possessions of people who want to express their dissatisfaction with their lives and their inability to live effectively. They seem to consider it to be effective to impose undesirable consequences on other people. Being in the way is a default action.
A chain and grappling hook could come in awfully handy to a Tesla driver
We visited Hickory a couple years back when we were searching for decent size towns with lakefront homes to retire to. Hickory used to be the furniture capital of the U.S., and pretty much all of that industry is now overseas, so the town has a lot of good stuff from back when it was still doing well. But, it has a lot of skilled workers w/o decent jobs. The first restaurant we had dinner at, we discussed this with our elderly waitress who told us that if we moved there and were cleaning our own house, or mowing our own lawn, we were doing it wrong because the labor is cheaply available.
So, just my speculation here, but I think what you're seeing is people protesting against what they see as wealthy people with things they can't really afford.
Just another day in Paradise
Fuck em' if they can't adapt and find new work and yet still refuse to support UBI. Their jobs are about as useful as whale oil harvesting is today and yet they refuse to take a way out of their shit situation. Some people refuse to be helped, their opinions no longer matter at that point.
Also, oil is a fungible commodity that funds people that kill US troops.
Oil is treason.
Taunting and shitting on people is part of their culture, as is making enemies. They don't need a reason other than that you're "not them". If you've ever interacted with this type, you know exactly what I mean. Part of their culture is to categorize people into "us vs. them", so that they demonstrate their loyalty to "us" by shitting on "them".
Simply put, they're a bit farther behind on the evolutionary timeline. Like the lesser animals, physical force and disrespect to others is the way to get ahead.
Part of the bizarreness here is listening to people talk "rural" and pretend it's farms and stuff, when actually "rural" in the US means "Non-urban". You're saying you're a suburbanite? Congrats, you probably live in a similar neighborhood to the pick up drivers under discussion. You really think they live on farms?
Your plumber, your house painter, your AC guy, they're not living on farms, they're living in places like the one you live in. And that goes for the jackasses hogging charger stations too. Yes, those people doing it are jackasses. They don't have economic anxiety, they're doing it to own the libs (which is ironic, I'll get to why in a moment) not to strike a blow for fair wages and more jobs.
The reason these particular jackasses think of themselves as "rural" and (by-and-large conservative, suburban) Tesla owners as "city" (which is ridiculous) is because of the bizarre identity politics being perpetuated by the culture warriors. They think their "lifestyles" are under threat from "liberals", because that's what Fox News tells them, and they think liberals drive Teslas.
Which we don't. 60% of Tesla owners are conservative, which is what you'd expect because they're expensive and their chief salesperson lives in a different world from that of most liberals, constantly belittling walkable communities and advocates for that, and treating poverty and poor working conditions as if they don't exist.
The number of rural Americans is tiny. Most are suburban. A minority is urban. Most suburbs exist because of "White Flight" during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, which has colored the politics of those areas. Most wouldn't want to admit in a million years that their parents moved to an artificial, poorly thought out, shit hole, because they were frightened of black people, so they cling on to this myth that they live in a "natural", "rural", part of the world that's somehow better than urban living despite being completely unnatural and unusual by historical human standards. And culture warriors like to take advantage of this. And because a handful of every group are assholes, the assholes take it too far, and try to run homeless cyclists off the road (I've seen this), or, less evilly but still obnoxiously, prevent people they think are "bad" by the standards of the culture warriors from being able to do what they want.
The only funny part of this is that they're more likely to end up blocking the Tucker Carlsons of this world than the Keith Olbermanns, so in some ways it's a tremendous self own. And means you're right in an ironic way, because I think most of the problems in the US right now can be traced to people who promote culture wars and who harness racism and other prejudices to pit people against one another, and that fits the Carlsons of this world.
You are not alone. This is not normal. None of this is normal.
I live in South Carolina... and I sometimes drive a 3/4 ton Diesel 4x4 Pickup, because it is a necessary tool to manage my small 10 acre farm.
Let me be the first to say that so-called "Brodozers," those obnoxiously outfitted toys of over-privileged Clemson students and unproductive hillbillies, are a huge problem.
Farming is not a full-time occupation for me (I'm an engineer full time), but I think I speak for most people who own diesel pickups for the right reasons when I say, "these people are idiots, every last one of them." We should be embracing technology like electric vehicles for applications where they make sense. For urban areas, electric cars are a fantastic solution to a local problem. Out here in the country, they have comparatively less usefulness.
There is no questioning the leaping advances Tesla has made to the use of batteries in vehicles. No questioning whatsoever. There is also no questioning that EVs are a great solution to urban air pollution. One day even my farm truck might be replaced by an EV, which would not necessarily be a bad thing as long as it has the capability. Plus, the sooner I can stop worrying about cleaning DPFs and pouring fuel out of my exhaust for active regeneration cycles and constalty-failing EGR coolers, and other problems with modern diesel emissions, the better. (These idiots break federal law and remove their emissions controls, because they don't care about our environment at all, and don't worry about the true cost of responsible diesel vehicle ownership).
So why don't they just go to another fueling station in town? With Range Anxiety being a myth, I'm sure there's tons of chargers in all parts of the middle of nowhere.
Seriously, what a bunch of losers.
in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni
I want an electric pickup because I want an American made truck that doesn't run on foreign oil.
Extra points if it comes with a gun rack. Even more points if it is easily cusomizable.
What else is more American?
Putting a good suit on a Deplorable gives you... a stylish Deplorable.
It really makes no difference how expensive the vehicles were, what the license plate holders said, or what stickers were (or were not) found decorating the vehicle.
A-holes drive Bentleys too. So what?
