The problem is the genetic tests available don't always give facts. The presense of a gene does not by itself indicate higher risk for most diseases, what it indicates, is a predisposition, so that if dozens of other factors are just so, combined with the gene, then your risk is higher. It is VERY subjective. Additionally, as someone else pointed out, genes are not something you can change. To make it more plain: We know that blacks are statistically more like to get certain diseases, therefore are higher risk, do you think that it would not be discrimination, that it would be just? It is a medical fact in the same right as genetic testing, you simply don't have to test for the black gene because you can see it. The same type of "facts" exist for asians, or women.
I know it's offtopic... but it seems like everything is always out of stock at think geek... any time I have money to buy something, it is out of stock...and to get an email when it's back in stock doesn't help either, because things are only in stock 1-2 days and then out again for 2-3 more weeks...
As much as your post is so full of buzz terms it could be out of a dilbert comic (and you spelled competitors wrong), your last paragraph is probably accurate for most companies... but that is only because of incompetence in implementation, not necessarily the value of the ideas themselves.
Then, of course, there's the one-sentence-per-paragraph folks that leave you wondering whether they're free associating, really have a point or coherent argument to make, or just want to share quiet empty space with their friends. Easier to parse than a full page that consists of a single run-on sentence, but no less annoying.
I once wrote a very poignant email to a higher-up in the company and CC'd my boss' boss so that he would be aware of the situation, as well as that I was addressing it for him. It was an approximately five sentence email that was properly all one coherent paragraph. His only response: "It was a bit hard to follow, in the future when you write official emails like that, you may want to break it up into more paragraphs."
do it yourself.... do a quick search for "retro cell phone" and you will find comments on all of the forums suggesting that someone turn the handset into a shoe... the demand is there, you could make a couple bucks...
In phoenix, a junk car is more likely to get stolen. Crime is so rampant here, that cars are typically stolen as a way for a criminal to get from point a to point b, sometimes while commiting another crime. Old cars are so easy to steal it takes them very little time, plus, some little hoodlum driving a hoopty doesn't draw any suspicion, so they blend right in. I've had several junk cars stolen, and I've only lived here a few years. Of course, it doesn't help any that the cops don't do anything about it. I used to play GTA all the time before moving here, and I always thought it was kind of stupid that you can just take any car and the cops don't notice... then I moved to Phoenix, it's just like that here.
the focus may be shifting towards simple hacking tips like looking over someone's shoulder for their password, faking employment or just picking the locks to gain access to the building where machines are
I didn't RTFA, this is/. afterall, but "focus may be shifting"? how is this news? This is (at the very least an extension of) what kevin mitnick talked about for years, and no doubt others before him as well. news? I think not.
uhm...it does come with raid... nvraid is built into 680i (and almost every nvidia chipset for the last 5 years or so), and is even an option shown in the bios on the screenshots... but then you'd know that if you RTFA... I wonder why you would make such a matter-of-fact comment/complaint without even having anything to base it on.
granted, nvraid is, from what I have read, essentially software raid, but still, it comes with it!:)
that's the main problem I have with the leftright scale of political idealism, it's not leftright, it's not even circular, if there's any overlap, then it's spherical.... liberal != socialist, "radical right" != and has nothing to do with conservatism, religious radicalism has nothing to do with conservatism, I'm so sick of these generalisations... why must things be explained in 1 dimension? there are not 2 sides to issues, and most positions that are traditionally linked to either side of the leftright spectrum contradict every other position traditionally linked with that side of the 'spectrum'... stop generalizing and maybe you will understand other people's positions, then, MAYBE then you will be able to compromise, AND ACTUALLY SOLVE PROBLEMS
P.S. WTF is this guy getting modded troll for? He has a perfectly valid point of view, it's just founded on misconception of reality is all...
P.P.S. I read some of the comments this person made to figure out if it is a dude or chick, still haven't figured that out, but it seems like they are all Right vs. Left.... maybe it is Troll, or maybe he/she is just too rigid/stupid to see other points of view in more than one dimension...
erm... mean price for seven 500gb harddrives is about $765 right now... and that's from mainstream retail suppliers like newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N 82E16822136073), so that's not that far off... of course that says nothing for redundancy or long-term reliability, but it doesn't look like those are concerns of his...
I was going to mod this up, but I figured it would just get modded back down, so I figure I'll throw in my 2 cents as well. While I do not agree entirely with your post, I do agree with the spirit of it. No good can come from passing a ton of these laws to try and think of every single dangerous thing a person might do. They will not stop people from doing them, they are not enforceable, and they are such a wide net that they will in fact punish innocent people. All the activities they want to outright ban because they are "dangerous" such as driving while talking on a cell phone, or texting, or while the driver has had no sleep, are not always for all people at all times dangerous activities. Furthermore, there is no way they can list them all, or enforce an entire list of them all. If the activities truely are dangerous, they fall under reckless driving. If a person is being reckless, which can be determined by visually seeing the amount of control a driver has over their vehicle, punish that. That covers everything. It covers if they are talking on the phone, texting, eating a sandwich, putting on makeup, EVERYTHING. The goal is to stop people who don't have control over their vehicle from endagering others, so why not directly address the issue??? It makes NO sense to try and ban everything that could lead to reckless driving, when all they have to do is enforce the current reckless driving law! Common sense on the correct way for these lawmakers to achieve their goal aside, by trying to go after the activities that lead to unsafe driving, you are taking away freedoms. You are taking away freedoms in the name of "the greater good". If there is another way to accomplish a goal without taking away freedoms, it must be done. This is another clear example of trying to control people, in order to stop them from doing bad things. It never works. You must go directly after the people doing the bad things or you will never win. Trying to nip it in the bud by controlling people is not right, and if that isn't enough of a reason not to do it, it also won't work.
Oh and by the way, this is not "liberal" as you say. True liberals are on the side of liberty, which this clearly is not. Just the same, true conservatives would not do this either, because there is nothing conservative about passing more and more laws on the same exact subject. This is the doing of people who do not really fall on either side. They are extremists, totalitarians, or quite possibly just people without common sense. Personally, I like to think there is no devious motivations behind these stupid laws. I think they are just that, stupid.
Either way, if they search your car and find something and it doesnt matter whether it was legal or not. Leave that up to the lawyers. If they search your car and dont find anything, well you shouldnt have been driving through that part of town anyway.
That's exactly right, and the thing that bothers me the most. They do whatever the hell they want, legal or not, with no reprecussions when it is not legal. The attitude is if they caught someone, good for them, if it turns out they harassed an innocent person, oh well.
And I do not know how many of you here remember michael, Wasn't he the wraith that we tried to "cure" into being a human like us?
Boy, that was a disaster...
additionally a large portion of the training time is offset by turnover, people being trained for a new position anyway, whether new hire or transfer. It is also offset by the fact that a large number of employees generally have a small understanding of the old software anyway:)
yes, and the linux kernel to boot...the gp mentioned BSD kernel showing a penguin... I haven't used any flavor of BSD in over a decade but I highly doubt that it would show a penguin:P
exactly, it doesn't matter what crime was "thought to have been committed" by a person...what if they're innocent of any crime? I really don't think it makes much difference to an innocent person if they're being tortured for supposedly being a terrorist, or because they supposedly infringed a copyright...
inability of pretty much everyone, regardless of sex, to drive effectively with a cell phone jammed in their ear
should read 'inability of the vast majority of people, regardless of sex, to drive safely.'
Anyone who truely has control of their vehicle, is no more hindered by talking on their cellphone, than someone who is walking is hindered by chewing gum. Yes, the majority of people have relatively little control of their vehicles, if this weren't true there would be damn near *0* "accidents", but why should the minority suffer for the inabilities of the majority? Talking about taking away someone's freedoms is a very serious matter. Instead of trying to blame it on any one thing, why not think about solving the root cause, that most people are just plain unsafe drivers... And before you take it personally, if perhaps you feel you would not be able to drive while talking on a cell phone, and therefore don't, you are being a safe driver. You should know what your own abilities are and avoid endagering others. It is not up to the government to limit people. Just because one person can't do it doesn't mean another can't, or just because most people can't, doesn't mean everyone can't and we should therefore outlaw it. When you don't have the ability to do something safely, and you do it anyway, endangering others in the process, that's called being wreckless. That's already a crime. Enforce it. Problem solved.
Irrelevant conclusion? surely you meant to say a different word than irrelevant...
Where did the egg come from? It assumes that the egg already existed, ignoring the divine half of the chicken/egg debate.
Creationism, as I understand it, is based on the bible, particularly genesis. You're just assuming the egg didn't already exist, ignoring what it actually says in the bible. It just says god created everything winged. From king james "which the waters brought forth abundantly...every winged fowl after his kind", which btw is a terrible translation of the latin, which i'm sure is also a terrible translation of the hebrew/aramaic/etc. There is no mention that it wasn't an egg first... where does that come from? The timeline you say? the 7 days? Actually, there is no mention of how long between the 7 days spent creating the earth and the garden of eden story... or that the birds were even full grown at the time adam and eve were...
Why do people insist that creationism and evolution are incompatible??? There is nothing in the bible that says so! You're making it up, filling in your own blanks, based on likely a third-hand knowledge of a translation of a translation of a translation...
Do the world a favor don't speak out on topics you know nothing about. At the very least, don't be hypocritical by saying someone else is jumping to conclusions, and then use your own jumped-to-conclusions to back up your viewpoint that they jumped to conclusions.
As a matter of fact, I read that as a result of the protests, chinese officials are blocking landline and cell phone access in tibet.

no, the moral of the story is don't count on rebates... most of them don't let you send by registered mail exactly for plausible deniability...

Yeah, I could see why they wouldn't want a venerable drive or 'a line' (I assume you mean line of code; they especially wouldn't want that)...
