Set up a VM in Virtual Box for them to use. Take a snapshot of when it was healthy and new and just revert to that each time someone wants to use it. Even paying for a Windows install for the VM would be cheaper than an iPad.
It's been a while but I don't think a circle and a parabola are topologically equivalent. If you remove a point from a circle it remains path connected, where removing a point from a parabola cuts it in two. I'm pretty sure a proof by contradiction can be sussed up wherein we assume a homeomorphism between the circle and the parabola and then look at that homeomorphism acting on the subset "circle - point" and "h(circle - point)" and find that those are clearly not homeomorphic.
In my high school, classes were about 42 minutes long. One year I got to experience Summer school and the classes there were an hour long. I found that the extra 18 minutes made a world of difference. I felt I was able to settle in, relax, and start learning better in an hour than in 42 minutes. After that I thought they should have less classes per day but have them be an hour long.
I've always felt it wasn't so much a matter of whether or not their needs are satisfied by Linux but whether or not their needs are unsatisfied by Windows. As you say, Windows just does what they need. So what would be the reason for them to switch?
While I appreciate that English is not everyone's first language, and I don't mean to "make fun," I cannot help but suggest that your post should have started with "Rorshach's Journal, March 26th, 2009."
I've been working 9/80 for the better part of 8 years now. It's fantastic. We actually have the ability to do 9/80 or 5/40 and switch back and forth whenever we like. I tend to do 5/40 in January and February just so I can go home when it's light out, but other than that I do 9/80. Two day weekends are not at all satisfying compared to three day weekends. You're off on Friday and you can run errands to anywhere you like, because everything is open, and then you can lay around on Saturday and just when you're thinking "man I don't want to go back to work" you realize it's Saturday night and you don't have to!
Last Summer I actually switched to the 4/40 and had every Friday off. I think I'll be doing that again this Summer. For me it's very much about getting to see the Sun when I leave work. In the Summer I can do a 10 hour day and still have a couple of hours of daylight when I get home.
I always like the idea of the movie Enterprise being Enterprise class, having read that in Mr. Scott's Guide To The Enterprise (I think) but it was actually still a Constitution class ship. This is verified in Star Trek VI when Scotty is looking at a plan view of the Enterprise (on paper) in the observation room. It is clearly marked "Constitution Class."
Actually, I felt this way too until about three weeks ago when my friend's three year old Samsung "Slimfit" HDTV just stopped turning on. It's a regular CRT too! None of that fancy dandy DLP or LCD stuff. The same kind of TV they've been making for decades (just with more lines of resolution) and it died.
Sure sure, it's probably just a power supply but it died and she went out and bought a new TV instead of getting it fixed.
So they do break.
No, I think they are supposed to be making as large a profit as possible. Companies can decide whether that's short term profit or long term profit, but all companies are supposed to make as much profit as possible.
One can argue that keeping your customers happy is something a company can do to help it meet its goal of making as much profit as possible, but it is not a necessary thing to do.
At work I use Sun machines which have two different keyboards dependent upon which generation of Sun machine I'm using. I also use a Windows machine with a standard "Windows" keyboard. Needless to say, a lot of the "alt" types of keys are in different places. At work I moved back and forth with ease.
At home I only use Windows with standard "Windows" keyboards. But one day I decided to fire up a Linux live CD. I logged in and opened a terminal window to vi something and immediately started hitting the wrong keys. I'd never used a Sn keyboard at home but as soon as I was in Linux I was all messed up.
I was very upset about this when I heard about it this morning. However, I've discovered that if the wife and I switch to two 1 movie at a time (2 per month) plans, we'll be paying less than we pay for our two movie at a time (shared with two queues) unlimited plan. I don't think we actually get more than two movies each per month so we'll switch and pay three or four bucks less each month.
When I go to the zoo I do not bother the animals. I don't tap on the glass or yell into the cage or throw stuff into the enclosure. At the same time, I really don't like the idea that the tigers can jump out whenever they really feel like it. I don't think I want to take my kids to a zoo where the tigers are kept in only by their own laziness.
You'll want to mod me down so as not to attract attention to this issue, but I'd honestly like to know... I usually browse at a level of 4 or higher but sometimes, when there are still few comments to a story, I'll drop down to -1. My question is, does every story have all of this racism and homophobia nonsense attached to it, or is this something new? If it's a long standing thing, are there any theories as to why people bother with stuff like that on a site like Slashdot? They just get modded down and aren't even seen by most people (I, of course, assume most people are like me), so why do they bother?
Hope someone answers before I get modded into oblivion with the trolls:)
If everyone started using whatever frequency they wanted to, few of the frequencies would be useful. What if you were using a service and some other service came in and overpowered it, because they had more money for better transmitters or whatever? You would want to go to the government and say, "they can't do that, I was using first!" In a way claiming that you "own" the frequency in that location.
This way the same thing happens (the rich and powerful companies get to use the spectrum) but the government also gets money. It's a win-win for everyone but you and me!

really remind me of some of the artwork from 2001: A Space Odyssey. At least the artwork I remember being on the album for the movie. I suppose there just aren't many ways of seeing people standing around on the moon!

I was actually playing with the typo/spelling error in the post I was replying to.
Someone who looses their passwords is liable to loose a lot more than just their data.
I think the parent's idea was that using facebook at all is sharing too much publicly.

I have mod points, and attempted to follow your instruction, but I couldn't find the "oblivion" option in the moderation drop down menu.

Rules? Where we're going we don't need rules...
If memory serves, the cable has a very low mass per linear foot. Supposedly it would be more like a giant piece of paper floating down onto the earth.

I always really liked the Aliens Total Conversion for DOOM.
I really wish I had mod points for this one... Well played.
