  1. Re:Times Change on Apple Surpasses Dell's Market Value · · Score: 1

You need to learn how to configure windows and you won't have that problem with the Dell. With ACPI the power management is on the OS instead of the bios as it was with APM. Most current Dell's also have a bios option to hibernate after they have been asleep for a fixed length of time.

Now on the other hand, MacOS X is a winner, but some aspects are still a nightmare. I had a mac in an organization I supported suddenly refuse to print after updates were installed. You could print to a PDF from all the aplications and then print the pdf from the command prompt (proving cups and the network were functional). After hours with apple, they finally had me reload the OS to solve it. Now I must say the reinstall functionality on OS X is better than anything I have ever seen, and didn't require me to reinstall or reconfigure one app afterwards, and it solved the problem. But the problem shouldn't have been created by an update in the first place.

The form has check boxes for both senarios. If you can afford the wait, dump now, and you will get all the money back when the settlement is complete (which is several months from now). Also, depeneding on when you recieved your August bill, the loophole might still be open (there is a terms of service change notice, and you have 60 days to cancel), although I heard they weren't going to honor it after Oct. 1st.

I got mine for $150 after mail in rebate on Ne2, and just terminated my contract without a fee on another loop hole. We have that too, just with different carriers. The problem is that consumers don't want to pay full price for a phone, and they pratically invited this situtation by always getting the free/reduced price phones. Now the carriers won't activate a full plan without a contract, but there are other choices. You can get an unlocked GSM phone on ebay, and go buy a prepaid sim card. The free market has not prevented this.

In this case there may be a small number of players, but the free market allows you to choose a movie you like at a price you are willing to pay. If they price too high, their sales should drop.

When I am at the store and I see a movie I liked a few years ago for $5, I often buy it. I have to be very interested in a movie to spend $20, and haven't in several years.

DVD's and movies are not something we need, so competition isn't required to set the market price.

California has done this on certain classes of weapons in more recent history.
