did anyone expect him to announce he expected it to be a huge success? come on here. this isn't really news, just stating the obvious..
are you expecting? dell announces competitors pc's to be better & cheaper than dell's offerings hummer announces bigger less fuel efficient monsters better for consumers and environment
yeah. until you're in the middle of your frag fest and suddenly the game pauses.. and an advert starts to play..
"busy killing your friends? take a short break to go down a refreshing glass of joe-kola.. this game of death-killer-2000 brought to you by joe-kola.. kill more people hyped up on joe-kola, it's what the killer craves.. it's got electrolytes! we now return you to your slaughter"
and the game unpauses..
"i remember when games didn't have commercials.. no. really, they didn't!"
thanks for all the follow-up postings.. "tongue in cheek"? oh no. i was oh-so-serious..
i did follow up on the religious links provided. but none of them specifically mention they are under the GPL so i don't think they'd allow me to view the source code or modify them at will.
as for the individual requesting photographs of open goddesses. pervert!
maybe it's about time someone starts an open-source religion? license it with the gpl so it can be distributed freely and not require payment to participate in. everyone can modify it as they see fit and all gods/goddesses must be open for all to see.
i just wonder how long will it take for microsoft to embrace the new religion, add their own pantheon, patent it and try to squash the rest of us? i can hear the chant now... "developers.. developers.. developers.." as we do a monkey dance around a bonfire of burning penguins.
i'm with you. the OP dismissed elebits far too quickly imho. i find the gameplay to be something fresh and interesting among all the other standard games. i think the controller use is by far the best among any game i have so far (8 and counting). yes, wario (which i also have) uses the controller in creative ways but elebits uses it in what should be standard ways for manipulating a 3d environment with the wii controller (pulling open a drawer is more than just click on the handle, you have to pull the controller towards you).
i agree the time limit is probably the worst part of the game, but maybe someone will find a cheat/hack that stops the timer. i'd love to take my time to explore every stage.

Ok. So they have 160k developers, or people who at one time downloaded a SDK. How many people are currently using Palm devices? I once remember seeing them everywhere. Now I can't even remember where I placed mine (probably with my Newton), nor do I even care. Gadget people I see either have uber smart phones or crackberries.
My cell phone (not even a fancy one, a simple Moto SLVR) holds all my phone numbers, a simple calendar with alarms, addresses, and even a bunch of java applications to do extra things. Smart phones do even more. I'd rather carry one thing that does it all "well enough" than 10 separate devices.
personally i don't want a huge converter brick shuffling around the floor of my vehicle or even a socket-wart just to charge up my cell phone. i'd gladly pay a few extra bucks for these to be built into the car, hidden away, and only a few usb plugs under a cover in the dash/armrest/where-ever.
ok, people who want to power their fridges, you need the 12v socket, but does that even need to be so large? i seriously doubt it.
now this is very nice news. would be even better if car companies put usb plugs right in a car. maybe one for data to play mp3's thru your radio, and a few just to charge various devices. who uses a cigarette lighter socket for cigarettes any more??? do we really need that huge socket plus a usb adapter?
sorry, but this is the good old u.s.a. where the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and everyone has the right to sue thy neighbor.
do you know how many completely frivilous lawsuits are brought to court every day? as long as you're willing to pay your lawyer and court fees you can sue anyone for anything. and if you lose, you might have to pay for their lawyer too. but nothing is going to stop this money making scheme, it pays the lawyers their hefty salaries and the salaries of the courts too.
sorry, but can you even find an original commodore 64 lying around some place, and games for it? are you even old enough to remember the commodore 16/64? yes, you can buy/download an emulator for it on a mac or mac, and then download some games (most likely illegally). but at least nintendo is selling everything legit, and at a decent price. $5 for a SNES game i played years ago and will enjoy again. i'll buy it. hell, it's cheaper than many other things out there (a movie ticket, a coffee from starbucks, a new cd).
$250 isn't a bad price considering you can play wii games plus all gamecube games, and the virtual console library.
please tell me what sony offers to justify their price for the ps3, or microsoft for the 360. as far as i see it, it's a shinier package with some backward compatability and the same old controllers, gamestyle and gameplay as the ps2 & xbox. neither system has anything as innovative as the wii's controllers. the only new thing about the ps3 is the albatross of it's blu-ray reader, which we can thank for sending the price through the roof. nintendo isn't charging you $300 for the new controller/sensorbar.
i'm thinking people are going to say the wii is fun when they play it, gamers and non-gamers alike. i don't see how many people are going to be saying that about the ps3/xbox360 when it simply is more of the same. but that's just me.
same thing in a shinier package, better animation and slick soundtrack. don't forget the higher pricetag.
who has come out with something "different" in a console system in the past few years? other than the DS (dual screens + touchscreen) i can't really think of anything. faster cpu/gpu/blu-ray/death-ray just don't cut it for "innovative". a "pointer" may not be innovative, but it's a first for a console system. best sony could come up with was to "innovate" the lack of a rumble system (oh those nasty patent infringements).
i don't own a gamecube (but i do have a ps2 & xbox). i'll be buying a wii not only for the "pointer" but the current and back-catalog of games nintendo will be offering: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Console_(Wii)
so don't buy one, that's one less person i'll have to worry about trying to get the one i'm buying on release day. (though posting anonymously, i bet you've already pre-ordered yours)
target and walmart aren't selling the same product. yes, it's the same movie. but one is a small, crappy-resolution download vs. a physical dvd, chock-full-of-extras, better video quality, that i can watch on most any dvd player i can put my hands on.
if nothing else, stores should be saying "don't buy that online-store inferior movie for $9.99, come buy our better product for $5 more!"
corporate greed is one thing, but stupid corprate greed is just stupid.
for a price of "in the price range of 25,000 to 40000 Yen ($ 210 to $ 340)" i'll stick to my $30 7 port wired hub. call me back in 5 years when the price has come down, or better yet, it's integrated into my laptop and devices.
maybe they can respond to those spam messages i get now and then looking for people with power crystals for their time machines..
well i imagine this helped quite a bit:
"I am also an IT Manager for one of the labs at MIT (J's MIT email)."
he wasn't just some guy who walked into an apple store at the local mall..

yawn. such intelligent comments from an AC with no balls to post his potty mouth as himself. really, should you be calling anyone names?

roar! if we don't agree with someone's views let's rip him to shreds.
chill out guy. it's a video game review! you don't like it, move on!

it's not justice yet. requests have only been filed. nothing has been decided or granted. there's still plenty of time for sco to fall some more.
i'll tell you what they can't do, and that's screw it up any more than it already is...
add 'em up and you got "not ready for stable prime time".. in other words, it's windows!

does anyone know if this ruling applies in kentucky? given that whole "evolution is just a 'theory'" thing and all..
