I used to work there. it is the worst of all employers. the article is dead on and I'm also convinced that they're talking abot TAG. I worked there myself for three months. It is the shittiest company in the world.
I'm not familiar with their enterprise version. is it free (as in beer) to use? If not, there won't be anymore red hat for the masses? Guess I'll have to learn debian now.
I'm sure this works fine, I use a more low tech aproach however. I answer the phone, if it's someone trying to sell me something, I tell them I'm not interested, and I tell them to take me off their call list. I used to just hang up, but that didn't stop them from calling back. I get way less telemarketers now that they've (presumably, you can never trust these spamming scumbags) taken me off their call list. Oh, to live in an ad free world.
I don't think I'm the only one that thinks this way, why don't they adopt the cell phone model? give out the game for nothing when you sign a one year contract. I'm not paying $50 and then paying each month.
and I can't wait to have to site down with the wife to teach her how to use it. seriously, $600 for a glorified phone? I know, I know, it's got palmOS, but honestly, how many of you use it as little more than a toy?
the problem is that there are sites out there that only work with IE. Some will tell you that, others simply do not render at all. A client of mine for example, their winxp install has gotten so jacked up that they can't print anything from IE anymore, so I installed Mozzila to hold them over until I can re-install windows. they use webmd.com all day long, and upon loggin in to the site, mozilla renders a blank page. is it so hard to make a site compliant with all browsers?
so now i can get offers to enlarge my penis, buy cheap viagra, meet some hooker, buy my next vacation, etc.. from a martian? the internet is fast becoming a marketing/advertising wasteland. when are we going to be traveling to the planets anyways? funny, i just watched 2001 a space odyssey last night again, I was laughing about the phone calls in space, but the internet in space? now the astronauts will have new ways to really waste time. it's sad really, I don't understand why we as a civilization can't put our differences aside and travel the stars. I wish I'd been born two or three hundred years from now.
Are they going to sue everybody? I don't understand why artists stand behind this organization. have they all gotten so greedy that they're willing to alienate their fans to this point? this is absolutely ridiculous. 97 billion?!!??!? are they out of their minds? this is just getting stupid now. it reminds me of the iraqi information minister "we are in control, the usa is running away in fear" Denial. It runs rampant among out of control regimes.
No, because win95 is a piece of shit OS, but you point is valid. AMD should take this opportunity to stick to Intel however. Intel's been playing this game with comsumers' mind that the bigger the number the better the processor. Turnabout is fair play and I hope AMD takes this opportunity to bombard the computer buying public with 64 bit ads. I'd love to see Intel's answer to that, "uuhhhhh, bigger is better only if it says Intel Inside, yeah that's the ticket!"
i mean awards are nice and all, but to me I'd care more about what my fans thought about my performance. These award shows are all politics anyways. I wouldn't waste my time lobbying the oscar voters, screw it.
I hope that this particular game is only a hastily thrown together demo of the basic functions of this engine, hopefully this will support much prettier textures. As it is, this looks like a playstation 1 game to me.
$1799 for a celeron? I don't care what's included, it's a celeron. Why is intel still making these chips? an the price, I mean I know it's a quirky kind of computer, but I've seen better case mods that cost way less, and even similar computers from other manufacturers that cost less than this. seems like a glorified laptop to me.
and it was hilarious, in fact the last time I went back to France I wanted to buy some of these, but the bookstore that I found them in was some kind of book club and they wouldn't let me buy because i didn't belong:( Bastards!!! This is a ridiculous lawsuit. It's sad that we live in an age where mere words can be copyrighted.
and the answer is I doubt it. You're talking about a laptop from 1999 here, that is now 2-3 years ago, and they got their money, so I doubt they will give a shit. It's sad of course but look at their hard drives.
It's gotta make you wonder, do these people make money this way? It's ludicrous though that this company can get away with this behavior while the average person would be in hot water for doing the same, which amounts to a trojan. It's disgusting.
Xbox are for kids! Seriously, this is more of a why climb a mountain, because it's there argument, I doubt this is EVER going to be put into a production environment, and as mentioned, it would be cheaper to get equivalent PC hardware and much easier to cluster it. Still you have to admire the dude's determination.
Although in reply to my own earlier post....

I do hate all the damn advertising before a movie these days. If I pay $7 to see a movie, I shouldn't have to watch commercials. Why is it ticket prices went up even though they added commercials? In reality, the prices of games will probably not go down.
I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing...

hell it might bring the prices of games down to a more reasonable $20-$30 per game. I like it. I know we're already innundated with advertising everywhere, but this could save you money.
hhmm, no. it's because that's what WSJ does. they always have a drawn picture of people. go pick up a copy at your news stand (gasp!!) you'll see.
