Ok, honestly, is anyone actually surprised by anything these guys do anymore? I mean, c'mon, if it makes them a buck they'll do it. Be it trying to drive competition out of business, stealing good ideas from smaller companies and screwing them up, etc. Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to patent the use of a mouse if they could. I mean, MS didn't get the name "evil empire" by being ethical.
The first mistake you're making is that you're trying to meet women. Every girlfriend I've ever met I've met when I wasn't looking for one. For example, my current one I met while in training for the National Guard, in a 90% male environment. The last one I had I met as a co-worker in an auto shop, also a primarily male environment. Yet 9 times out of 10 when I deliberately go looking for female companionship I come up empty. If you go out like you are now, you'll stink of desperation, and that is quite possibly the biggest turn-off there is. Just find some RL stuff you enjoy, and go do that. Hell, even just playing online can sometimes lead to a relationship. A good friend of mine met an incredibly hot girl, who he moved in with later, playing WoW. The trick is just be yourself, be honest and open, and most importantly, be patient. Stuff happens, you just have to jump when the opportunity presents itself.
Sure you can.
Think about the kind of person you'd want. Then figure out the lie they'd tell about themselves in the personal section. Lie accordingly about yourself, and go from there.
I think NASA is greatly overestimating the appeal of this. I mean, how would your average gamer "pwn n00bs?" Beat them to Mars?
Meh, I'd play it though.
Ok, this should put to bed any crazy conspiracy theories, i.e. fake moon landing, loose change, etc. Do all you tinfoil hat people really think that a government that can't even pay it's phone bill on time could really have masterminded things of that magnitude?
This just seems to me like the old wanted posters, just updated with the times. These are violent criminals. Now, if they start putting up pictures of ppl with poor credit ratings, then we can talk.
Ok, I work in an auto shop (and yes I'm a geek, just one that happens to like working on cars as well as computers). If I screw up and blow up a $40,000 vehicle, by this logic, I should get 4 grand as a severance pkg to keep me from sticking around to screw up more $40,000 cars. Yeah, lets see if that happens any time soon./sarcasm
While mobile devices may be MS's world at the moment, I think alternatives will be quicker to adopt here than anywhere else. I mean, who buys a cell phone or PDA and asks "What OS does this run?" And usually, those that do are more interested in it NOT running MS bloatware. Even in the desktop world, where compatibility is a much bigger issue than on mobile devices, MS alternatives are gaining ground. Anyone remember the Simpsons episode a few years back where the record store kid asked "What's Apple?" I think this is gonna be the iPod revolution all over again. Either that, or its time to file another bug report on my Crystal Ball.
Yeah, but i'd love to see the consoles try to match the precision of kbd/mouse control. As far as i'm concerned, dual analog sticks just don't cut it. Which is why i still think that if PC/Console gamers were able to go head-to-head (in a GOOD game, like UT or something similar) the PC guys would lay the smack down so hardcore, it wouldn't even be funny. (Ok, maybe a LITTLE funny.)
At least the new overlords of ATI (AMD, for those not in the know) are actually making a halfway decent effort to support nix. While granted, they have a LONG way to go to meet even the quality of nVidia's drivers, at least its a step in the right direction, instead of the old "We'll make one, but we're really not going to put any effort into it" attitude. Hey, sometimes we have to be thankful for even small miracles.
Who is turbolinux again? Oh, and btw, they can kiss any gpl3 stuff goodbye now. And unlike novell, i seriously doubt they have the resources to fork it themselves.
I'm all for hacking around this kind of crap. Remember when Nintendo tried to sue Game Genie? In that case, the judge ruled that once you buy a piece of hardware, you can't force someone to use it the way the manufacturer intended, at least not through lawsuits.
He paid for it from earnings made from selling online game items he won.
What online game was this? Unless it was Second Life, that would more than likely be a violation of the game's terms of service. So, how long before thay start demanding a piece of the action?
Ok, samba is a bad example since it's whole purpose for existence is TO network with windows machines, as most other operating systems support unix style networking. And as far as my os of choice, you really mean to tell me that ms doesn't try to force people on to windows? If that's the case, what cave have you been living in for the past decade? Maybe if ms really wants to promote interoperability, they should start adopting some open standards in windows instead of trying to force the community to hack around their ridiculously insecure, and just plain lousy, setup.
So we can get crap MS proprietary code and corrupted standards in Linux now too, huh. You know, I really have no problem with folks wanting to use Windows, I just choose not to. But apparently, the folks in Redmond seem to have a problem with me making my own decisions on what OS I use. Does anyone else see a problem, here?
Well, to me this shows that not only do your students pay attention in class, but they are capable of taking examples and "prior work", for lack of a better term, and applying that knowledge to produce their personally desired result. Now granted, blowing up trash cans may not be the best use of their time, but that's a sociological issue, just like using a fork to stab someone in the eye. Perhaps we should address those issues instead of trying to keep people from getting their hands on information that "could" be used for an evil purpose. Restricting information is a losing battle, anyway.

That is assuming that you can actually walk into a church without, you know, bursting into flames. Some of us are kind of screwed on that account.
If they have a WoW account, pass me their number, I would want to meet them too!
If, however, they post their character's pic as their own, pass. As much as I'd love to bang a night elf, I doubt that they exist in RL.

If you're the "fat WOW-playing" type of geek, lose some weight, unless you're also growing a zz-top beard and riding a Fatboy.
What if you're the scrawny, pale, basement dwelling WoW player?
Sure you can. Think about the kind of person you'd want. Then figure out the lie they'd tell about themselves in the personal section. Lie accordingly about yourself, and go from there.
Sounds like RL dating as well.
How do you defeat he who has no life? And I can see it happening with the new guild banks.

Heh, I'm still waiting for a Linux port, along with airborne pigs and demonic snowball fights.
Damn, I was SO looking forward to pwning some console jockeys, too.
Oh, great, just what we need, iRifles and iTanks. They cost twice as much, and only work with AT&T :)
Well, isn't that the whole point of viral licensing like the GPL? And as far as I'm concerned, this is a very good thing.

So MS invented the internet now, not Al Gore?
