Hollywood is pumping American blood into what was once a great film maker. I was astonished when I saw he directed M:I-2, that was just sickening. Windtalkers at least had a small amount of merit.
Geared towards children? are you insane? The Simpsons is a purely satirical look at American life. It is everything but specifically geared towards children. The great things about The Simpsons is that the older you get, the more you understand about the show and the funnier it is.
Be careful before buying an apple laptop. Yestday my mom's Titanium Powerbook G4 did a total nose dive (not literally). After a few hours of trying all kinds of things par the Knowledge Base and Apple Support I determined the power manger chip is completely dead (meaning it won't take power from an outlet and can't recharge the barrey. So I cruised the internet for a few hours on how to get this matter handled and I ran across a good number of horror stories about people having the same problem with older laptops and Apple denying it is an issue. It appears the only option we have now is sending it in to Apple and they say they would most likely need it for a few months.
It seems a lot of people are confused about the purpose of these machines. They are built for companies/organizations that don't want people messing with computers they leave open to the public. Where I work we just purchased 3 new Dells at god-knows what cost just to have sitting in a room where somewhere will fill out an ASP application for employment. We could've saved a good deal of money by purchasing a machine such these. Although being that these particular ones are a brand new product, I'm sure we would've have right away. But the point is, these are NOT home meant to be home PCs. (even if some of these distros advertise them as so)
I have to agree that it is stealing, and these people should be punished. But not like this, the RIAA doesn't give a damn who they punish, or what they prove, they are just using this as an excuse to get way more money then they would ever make from people buying the CDs they download. All the RIAA wants to do is throw their weight around, and that's something worth fighting against.
I recall back in middle school when one my friend's and his brother emailed president@whitehouse.gov with a threat letter (as a joke of course) and the next day FBI agents went to thier house, got their parents, came to school, and got all 3 of the kids. They sat them all down in a room at school talked to them for almost 2 hours. So at least we know SOMEONE is reading the email (:
Apple really needs to add a "Restart Later" option to SU. I can't count the number of time it's been incredibly inconvenient to restart so I've had to force quit SU.
I wasn't implying that P2P isn't legit. Of course it is. And I also wasn't implying he is going to "save" anything. I was simply saying that he doing something that could potentially help the nasty association with P2P and illegal file transfer.
You have to give him credit. At least someone out there is actually trying to make p2p legit, and not just throwing their weight around *cough* RIAA *cough*
But they (the labels) I'm sure very well know that there is no way to make an entirely safe work-around for p2p file sharing. There will always be someone to find a way to infiltrate whatever the labels throw at them.
The whole point of the iTunes Music Store is accessibility. People will find it much easier to just purchase and download the album immediately. THAT is exactly what is intended of it. It isn't something that is supposed to bring a complete and total halt to the p2p music sharing industry. But it sure is an innovative advance in the fight against p2p and a great way to try to work with the consumer instead of against them.
Finally, it is important to note that the current test does not factor machine cost or intended use into the picture, and that can have a large impact, especially in clustering applications.
Read the article. Maybe that's why there wasn't a mflops/$ chart (;
Amen to that.

For OS X users I've used KisMAC to find wireless networks with a lot of success. It even has a built in decryption utility, how inconspicuious!
There's also iStumbler and MacStumbler, which I haven't used. And ALL of these have yet to hit v1.0 btw.
LOL.
you're very right. It did have to be done (:
I wonder how many times...

So is slashdot news for nerds or advertisment for nerds? I find it easy to get mixed up at times.

Now all the AoHaXoRs will be able to find eLiTe access tokens to mess with people's journals and create new keywords. Yay for nostalgia!

That screenshot was slashdotted pretty quick. I grabbed it and dropped it here if anyone is having trouble getting it.
That's an interesting way to look at it.
