This is so true. I can't begin to tell you the number of times I've seen bikers blow through red lights and stop signs like it was nothing. I've come to really despise them: they want you to treat them like a moving vehicle when it comes to passing and lane issue, but then they pull stunts like that. Sorry wankers, you can't have it both ways. These guys are giving cyclists a terrible name.
And I don't understand people like you. Why would I buy a single-player game where I'm dependent on the company staying in business if I want to continue playing? Good thing System Shock 2 didn't use Steam. Why would I buy a single player game I couldn't resell? I've bought countless used games off of ebay that were out of print, but Steam eliminates this option. And don't give me any of that "copyright, you only bought a license" crap. All the books I've ever bought have been protected under copyright (I don't 'own' the words on the page), but I never have any problems reselling them to a bookseller. There is no misplaced hatred for Steam...you've been sold a bill of goods and are too blind to realize your own plight.
Lovely. I doubled check the sample ballot and didn't see anything saying you had to fill in every oval. I also did not see any instructions for that when I was voting, nor did any of the people working there mention it. I searched the dupageelections.org website and didn't see a thing. Maybe it's just something they encourage (to help prevent voter fraud), but don't do anything if you choose to do it? *shrugs*
Hmm, what happens if you don't fill in every oval? Do they toss your entire ballot away? I only left blanks where there was only one candiate running. I felt like a chump filling in a vote for someone who had no competition. (Democrats had no candidates for some positions.)
No Diebold in Dupage County, IL, I'm glad to say.:) We have the "fill in the oval, let the Scantron machine scan it" setup. I guess when your county is 90% Republican you don't feel the need to rig the election with a bogus computer voting system.;)
No, there was a problem a few minutes ago, or at least what *looked* like a problem, when all of the front page stories where *BSD stories. For a second I thought it was a stupid joke, then I refreshed the front page and things went back to normal. Oh well, I guess they jumped the gun on the April 1 stuff...
"Bungie demonstrated that they can create a living, breathing world and an intense story, plop you down in the middle of it, and marvel at what transpires."
No, Bungie demonstrated that they can be bought out by Microsoft and turn a great-looking PC game into a mediocre, overhyped console game, and then turn that back into an ultra-delayed craptacular PC port. I salute you Bungie!
Evolve? What's evolving got to do with dumbass wannabe "intellectuals" trying to look clever? There's no need to make up words when a perfectly good word already exists: viruses. There's a right and a wrong way to spell things, deal with it.
And the incentive for Nintendo for going after an "artist" making $0 from the remix would be...? Pissing off their fans who are so decidated that they make music remixes of crappy games from the 90s?
I grew up "Republican", and have never in my life voted for a Dem, but I'll be happily voting for a 3rd party candidate this Nov. (In a state that always votes Dem.)
I really dislike Star Wars and could not be called a "fan boy" by any stretch of the imagination. That said, KOTOR is a vastly superior game. The story is engaging and the characters are people you end up caring about...NWN's original campaign is dull and uninspired. The KOTOR interface is refined, clean and easy to use...NWN is cludgey.
I remember being so excited when NWN was released, and it was fun at first. But I after 3 attempts at finishing the original campaign, I was disillusioned with NWN and just gave up trying to make it work. True, the expansion packs and many of the mods are a ton more fun, but the original NWN was a major let down for me...and for a lot of other D&D geeks as well. You;re better off playing BGI and II again than messing with NWN.
I have a Dreamcast and I love it, but the emulators have left me rather disappointed. There still isn't a SNES emu that runs at full speed with sound. If 16-bit system emulation is still struggling, I don't have much hope for these newer systems running well anytime soon...
Yeah, sounds a lot like when "Public Saftey" officers would issue tickets back in my college days. They were pretty much worthless, especially if you weren't a student, and you'd just tear them up. $10 my ass. The only people able to issue enforcable parking tickets are the cops, at least in IL.
If he's working in a professional environment, he doesn't get to choose to install a different OS to fix his user's problems. Companies have standard desktops and you get paid to support them.
How are the achievements of a game any less real than any other activity you can participate in? When I exercise my mind solving a puzzle in a game, I've gained "real world" value.
If you finding yourself constantly frustrated, maybe you are trying to play a poorly designed game? Or maybe games just aren't your thing? In any case, when you use cheats to bypass a game's challenges, you are really just shortchanging yourself from a good experience.

Dont advertise links for your referals, slashdot is not the place for that
You're totally right. Slashdot is a place for bitching about pointless crap.

Why are these things starting to sound like publicity stunts more than anything else?

Easy, Jack Black.

"Time with Tits" is probably a little closer. :)

And the author of Sea3D is a heck of a nice guy, too. :)
Completely right. Those bastard "voluneers" ruined a large part of UOs/EQs/etc help system with their greed. Talk about a Phyrric victory.
Reminds me of a t-shirt I saw at the recent Indy GenCon:
"Why settle for the lesser evil? Vote Cthulhu 2004"

So people complain when /. posts old news...and people complain when /. posts news too early? Jeeze, I guess you just can't win.
And there was those leaves, when we went to city with our friends and got drunk. Helped me to get life of my own, outside of computers.
Nothing like trading a life filled with IRC and Quake for a life filled with bottles of alcohol!

Jeeze, it's not like they called off the entire French policy force to find one lousy CD. I'd think they'd be able to multitask, don't you?
