Because I live in the corporate world, I still need to have to have Windows around ( I will admit that Windows 7 is not bad). I am however mostly on my Linuxmint 11 box or my Fedora 15 laptop. Even my wife and daughter are accustomed to the Linux environment.
Would no the option of not using Firefox with Firesheep enabled remove the security issue that goes along with wifi browsing? I dropped Firefox about a year ago because it was too slow, too much baggage, I run the Chromium browser or Google Chrome browser almost exclusively. Haven't heard aof any such vulnerabilities with wifi or otherwise there ??
I've been running 10.10 RC for about a week now on my laptop and its been flawless. I just did the online update on one of my desktops from 10.04 to 10.10 and it was flawless. Everything worked !!
Well said. I am a geek and a fabulous cook at the same time. I enjoy being in the kitchen as much as I enjoy at being in front of one of my Linux boxes !!
Interesting story. The Russians have showed out their Sukhoi SU 50. Well they did bring out the Sukhoi SU 47 which was supposed to be the main counterpart to the F22 (Youtube Future dogfights), but they didn't have the $ to manufacture more than a test version. with the SU 50, they are partnered with India. Lets see if this fares any better. The Russians's engineering skills are exceptional, but the question is, do they have the $ to support the development and early production costs?
Well I converted from Mandriva 2008 to Ubuntu 8.04 about three months ago and I feel that Ubuntu is totally awesome. Fast friendly and easy to handle. I upgraded online to Ubuntu 8.10 and I can't say that I noticed any "slowing down" from 8.04.
There again, maybe I'm just happy to have found a distro which runs well on this piece of junk I call a computer.
Well on the two desktops and one laptop on my little network, I used to use AVG but somehow it slowed things down. I switched to Avast which works great particularly on my wife's laptop. on my two Linux boxes, (Ubuntu 8.04 and Opensuse 10.3) I use ClanAV
Well the real problem is that non-IT managers have little knowledge and even less interest in understanding the tech side of the issue. I have seen too many tech workers get blamed for not having the "business interests" in mind? Shouldn't these folks (the tech crowd) have managers who steer them through such situations. As a business analyst, I have many a time had to sit between operations/finance and IT to steer them through "who needs what". When I was working as management in a full time job, I usually did that.
It seems as if management these days aren't quite up to par. At least that's how I see it.
I have a linksys wrt54g router. The only time i had to reboot it was when my ISP was screwing around with an ADSL2 upgrade and they kept disconnecting me. Now that they seem to have figured that out.. finally My two bits. I haven't had to restart my router in like 3 months...:P
Well I hope that they do a better job with the packages in the distro than they did with LE 2007. I have used Mandrake/Mandriva since ver 9.2 and up to LE 2006 thye were fantastic. Unfortunatley LE 2007 was a dogs breakfast with packages missing on the CDs (Free edition as well as Powerpack). I wasted a lot of time trying to get my network online, but kept running into problems such as being unable to find/load bind, dhcp and a few others. I am back running LE 2006 and am seriously contemplating moving over to Suse.
I efiled my daughter's return on Feb 18, put her bank account number in so they could shoot the $$ right into her bank account. Two days ago, she received a cheque (they ignored our direct deposit instructions) and I said to myself - "Something sure as hell is screwed up over there"

How light does this have to be ? I run Firefox on an older P2 computer and it works fine, maybe a bit slower
Well, I don't know about you guys, but for me, the first thing was my horoscope.

After that, back to the network, Unix, NT, Linux, whatever

Hey
Unfortunately I feel that way too. Been doing contract jobs with large "corporate entities" and all I've run into so far is total CHAOS.
Damn, It is as bad as Dilbert says
