1. have fun
2. stay best friends
3. get it on at least twice a week and keep it freaky. physical intimacy leads to closeness the rest of the time, too. Keeping it interesting, uh, keeps it interesting
4. pick your battles. Is this *thing* worth arguing about? Is it *really* worth arguing about?
5. be able to be wrong and be able to verbalize and appologize
6. compliment her every day.
does this mean I could walk into a store and buy MSSQL (CAL version) without going through a channel partner?
it's easier to go from windows to php/mysql than to get one of those licenses fast
Is is cynical to inherently distrust a Microsoft Web site called "getthefacts.com"?
We experience the opposite. We are 4:1 a Linux:Windows shop, yet spend twice as much time fixing Windows boxes.
We charge for our time, so we love, and hate Windows.
yea, you can RDP to windows, telnet and ssh from an iphone to windows/linux.
As with my linux boxes... why run wine or make windows apps run on Linux when I can connect to one by remote? Doesn't everyone run VMWare for that kinda thing nowadays?
I guess not. I can kinda see a pack of monkeys with sticks, beating on a monolithic silver and glass device...
the idea of a soul is synonymous with faith... with religion... and is generally considered to be a different thing from the body... immortal and unique. The part of the body that is the person, separate from the cells and fluids.
while you can argue all day long about heaven or reincarnation I doubt anyone is going to take up the fight that machines will go to heaven or be reincarnated. Clone, maybe... but then the 'soul' could also multiply, and whatever it is that someone is trying to label as a soul would be as non-unique as a calculator...
I'd imagine sympathy from you isn't what they are looking for. Depression does have an effect on work output, so there is good reason to find a fix.
The dog on the other hand may have behavioral issues that manifest with depression, which could be caused by medical issues. If the behavioral issues (I dunno, peeing in the house, chewing off it's own fur, etc) bother the owner and the dog, seems reasonable to deal with it.
The bottom line is depression isn't always situational, and even when it is, there's no sense in wallowing in it or ignoring it if we want a happy dog at home or a productive scientist in space.
if only it worked that way in practice. Neither big party (D&R) is interested in keeping government out of our lives. (see FISA, Homeland Security, Patriot...)
the old myth that the R's are anti-big government or fiscally conservative is sadly outdated.
so how long will you test? what are the criteria to make it out of the test environment?
It seems a more reasonable approach would be to:
1. pick software that is in wide enough distribution that exploits are published and patched quickly.
2. Set up the production box on a private LAN. Scan the hell out of it. Lock it down. Scan it again.
If you think your team is going to find zero-day exploits... then you are either lost or secretly have the crack team (in which case you wouldn't be posing this question here;)
This leaves you with proven solutions, scan, lockdown/patch, scan. Then of course you'll need to keep the server/apps up to date and backed up. This is where most well intentioned admins fall short...
I mean, really - just put in a firewall or something to keep the people from finding out about this stuff. should be simple enough, right?

it's for the masses of the masses. like canned gravy, or instant coffee.

hard to get in?
just walk in like everyone else!

I just finished setting up my girls (7 & 10) PCs, with Linux... Merry bye bye Windoze.

heh, you mean like my VAIO?
or my wife's Dell? Wait, I needed to enable a couple non-OSS packages for that.
It's easier to install opensuse or ubuntu than it is to opt out of all the crap that is preinstalled on a window$ box.
unless the perp frames a friend with 'skilz', this likely wouldn't work. Anyone with 'skilz' is likely not going to leave open access to their gear.
wrong! It'll never go out of style.

your view is as racist as the parent post. It's just got that rosy positive spin...

MODS - mod parent up. while uncomfortable and a different point of view this is a valid post.
aren't they fluffers? not that there's anything wrong with that. need to keep the startups... up and running.

does this mean Apple is as evil as M$?
Jeez, this is the most asinine thread I've ever read.
It is?
When doesn't a
well I'll be darned.
I'm not a GPL guru by any means, so someone set me straight here.. why doesn't Barracuda have to publish source code for the box?
always been curious....
What kernel does the Barracuda run, anyway? What is the core filtering technology built on?
funny, I can't get to the site from my comcast connection. Getting there just fine from work, so likely not the /. effect...
