thinking that this had something to do with the report on CNN this morning that 60% of all toys recalled this year so far were "Made in China."
still, does this really come as a suprise to many people? with corporate outsourcing (and an exponentially higher amount of bitter employees, i'm sure) and a large population such as theirs i am by no means shocked. although i would expect more from india in this department.
Because TV, Magazines, Newspapers, weekly ads in newspapers, Internet banner/popup, Public Transportation, Skywriting, Radio, flyers, snail mail, and e-mail weren't enough.
10 years from now i'll be sitting down emulating some PS3 game and read something like:
Menendez Brothers will be packaged with Columbine Massacre ala Super Mario Brothers and Duckhunt and available on Wii's virtual console the end of 3rd quarter '07, just in time for christmas. I would pre-order now if i were you.
I personally don't know many gamers my age (22) that buy in stores. Unless we're stoned, and want to impress people with our Guitar Hero "skills". Lately it has been less expensive to purchase online (usually free shipping). Actually having a job doesn't allow for much playtime during the week, so the delay in shipping usually means i don't get the game til friday (for a tuesday release) which ensures that i have the entire weekend to play it. I think the big money question here is, will gamefly be renting Manhunt 2? And if so, will they allow purchase through themselves? That would help sales immensely.
Never played it. Although when i read the second line in your post, all i could think of was "FORD THE RIVER" and the ever popular "YOU HAVE DIED OF DYSENTARY."
Jimmy was bit by a snake. Hold on Jimmy, i'll go shoot 44 buffalo and that one bear that moves at cheetah-like speeds and there should be a cure in there. I hope so, because i didn't buy anything except for bullets when we were packing for this cross country trip.
a little off topic, but still something i played on an older apple product: does anyone remember the "make your own storybook" game? i'm fairly certain i always added a ravine surrounded by bears and wolves for a surprise ending to my stories.
since no one reads TFA, and TFA has nothing to do with T actual FA, is this like the "1 million zunes sold" article where there were 1,000,000 units sold to vendors, or are there actually 1,000,000 units in homes?
"Good day, gentlemen. This is a pre-recorded briefing made prior to your departure, and which for security reasons of the highest importance has been known onboard during the mission only by your HAL 9000 computer.
Now that you are in Jupiter's space and the entire crew is revived, it can be told to you. 18 months ago, the first evidence of intelligent life off the Earth was discovered. It was buried 40 feet below the lunar surface, near the crater Tycho. Except for a single very powerful radio emission, aimed at Jupiter, the four million year old black monolith has remained completely inert, its origin and purpose still a total mystery."
Nintendo should probably de-bundle wii sports and instead sell the wii with mario party. I paid $40 for the most highly anticipated game since LoZ:TP at circuit city to learn that (after a near 3 month delay) the actual gameplay doesn't support 16:9 resolution, and that there are no sound/video options whatsoever. The cutscenes (if they so can be called) are in 16:9. basically, you're playing mario party 5 with a wii controller on your 50" panasonic plasma, and you've got 4 inch borders on each side of the screen. meanwhile, i could play Mario Party 5 on my wii and have full screen support, allbeit stretched, but fullscreen. now i get to wait til (at least) august for Metroid Prime 3. thank god i can play baten kaitos origins (which is fullscreened, btw) on my fancy new gamecube until then.
was unbelievably Jobs heavy. It basically painted a picture of Jobs inviting Gates to a roast in his honor. I wonder if there was any real industry discussion that took place that day, or if Gilbert Gottfried told an Aristrocrats joke.
Agreed. PS3's pricerange and lack of game selection at the moment (2 titles released in May -- Pirates of the Shitty Box Office Obligated Release and a Penguin movie that doesn't feature Morgan Freeman as a playable character) and 360's.. whatever. The only disadvantage i see wii at is the staying power of games designed for the system. Sadly a friend and i bought Spiderman 3 (i bought ps3, and he bought the wii version). He completed it in 4 hours, stating that if it was as long as the PS3 version he would probably kill himself from slinging the webs. Button sequence repetition is normal on the other big 2 and can be dealt with (as it has in the past), but such repetition on Wii combined with short games that the populous is apathetic towards spending USD50.00 on is what should be of Nintendo's highest concern if their console is to stay where it is.
for me, the best feeling controller was gamecube. the shoulder triggers had indentations that you could grip your fingers around, and i didn't move any part of my hands with it aside from my thumbs or index fingers. that being said, i happily still use my wavebird with my wii.
for the best controlling controller, i would say that the dualshock gave you the most options. for the most part, every game employed every button. i especially enjoyed games where i was able to rotate the camera with the L1 and R1 buttons and adjust camera zoom with a stick, instead of combining all of the above into just the stick.
I wasn't a big fan of the XBOX (original) controller in either incarnation, which is what prompted me to buy the logitech wireless controller. while it didn't have any add-ons like turbo or rapid fire, it felt like i was cheating because the buttons had more sensitivity, so in tiger woods i was able to use full power (or a precise amount) on all my swings, when my friends are pounding their controls for 5 minutes trying to get a full swing. that got me to buy the PS2 version, which was really just a waste of money because i wasn't playing much other than RPGs on PS2. the new 360 controller isn't amazing (i'm not an xbox fanboy, sorry), but it is comfortable.
i feel that the N64 controller deserves a very honorable mention, ESPECIALLY because of the goldeneye/perfect dark franchises. if there was a shooter coming out it HAD to be on N64. the Z trigger owned all that existed. Z targeting from OoT and MM? Hello! Circle strafing with C buttons and the control stick? Easy mode. While the D pad was essentially made useless in most of the games aside from scrolling inventories, the right half of the controller was spot on.
As far as worst controllers go, i would say anything ever made by mad catz (seriously, if you need grips for your controller) or the last generation remotes that had COOLING FANS built into them. Nothing says "i have sweaty palms" more than an incredibly loud fan in your hands. Here's a tip: Put down the controller.
The Wii controller setup is fun, and the nunchuk is very comfortable, especially the control stick. Twilight Princess is the only game i've played so far on Wii that i feel utilized the controller to it's potential (at that point in time); before I played Wario Ware. That was just insane.
My only qualms with the SIXAXIS are that the motion sensitivity is non-existant, and the L2 and R2 triggers (a great improvement over the buttons) can be accidently pressed while resting the controller. Also, having that hideous cable coming out of the front of my PS3 really drove me insane, so i bought the 3rd party charger. Much nicer.
i think my favorite controller of all time was the Fighter Pad for SNES. it was a wider, almost ergo-shaped SNES controller, with smaller shoulder buttons on the top.. but it had the L and R buttons in the YX and BA rows, like an arcade console. there were also standard, semi and full auto switches for each of the 6 buttons, and the control pad moved very well. it's collecting dust somewhere, now that i no longer destroy my friends in street fighter 2 or mortal kombat 2.
i would like to see a full 3D "..of mana" (slash FF Adventure) title. i know that it would take away from the design of the Mana series thus far, but those games aren't hugely budgeted like FFs. it would be interesting for square to take the hack and slash genre a little further.. a full 3D reproduction of secret of mana would be amazing, and take a retardedly long time (if you wanted full mastery of the spells and weapons anyway) to play. i have faith that square could make it interesting, unlike untold legends/god of war/baldur's gate dark alliance which were all fun for about 10 minutes (which is about how long it took to beat each of those titles) square would be able to find a cool niche instead of beating more cash out of Aerith's dead corpse.
i'm not sure what exactly has been going through her head these years, but until the release of ps2/gamecube/xbox my mother purchased every major console (including saturn and dreamcast!) for me when they came out. she helped me map out dungeons in the original LoZ, helped me defuse the bombs at the dam level in TMNT, fought me for playtime on kingdom hearts 1 and 2; fought alongside me in (i can't believe i'm admitting this) the chronicles of narnia for PS2; and continues to lecture me about how my swing in super swing golf needs work, while asking me for advice on Oblivion and FF7 ('how is this supposed to be the best RPG of all time?! the characters are all blocky!' 'mom it's like.. 11 years old.' 'i liked 6 more.' 'whatever mom.')
sometimes i wish she didn't, because then i would probably have a social life. then again, i'm glad she did. the sun sucks.

"Duke Nukem Forever: Coming soon!"
And still laugh.
for future reference, a better title would be something like "the dawn of the new adult film industry".
using phrases like "comes" and "porn" will only excite the geeks. and 12 year olds. and people like me who still snicker and make posts like this.
consult the niblonians. they were 16 years old when this all went down.
Swampgas. Oregon Trail. Need i say more?
in response to your signature: whilst wiping Willy Wonka's wazoo.

expecting something Tiffany Towers related. now_those_are perfect silicone spheres.
after doing some heavy research, i found a release date confirming the new MI will hit stores 1 week before Duke Nukem Forever.
just another piece of equipment that our troops in the field won't ever have. are huzzahs still in order?

of a post 9/11 Daily Show comment calling it "the quadragon". but no one really knows how that happened.
that this http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/wiihelm.shtml will immensely improve MP3.
