    Printed circuit boards are (usually) made from fiberglass, resin, copper, and tin. Silicon goes in the integrated circuits soldered to the PCB.

    1) Reading on my monochrome 240x320 iPaq has never caused me any eye strain, headaches, etc. YMMV of course.

    2)Sharp has already released in Japan the Zaurus SL-C700, which has avery nice 640x480 screen. I believe there is a company importing these with modification to be usable by english reading/non-japanese reading people.

    I agree about the model 1894 Winchester, and come to think of it, everything else designed by John Moses Browning. All of his designs were beautiful works of mechanical engineering, ergonomics, and manufacturability. I've spent hours pondering the simplicity of my Hi-Power, the intricacy of my 1911's, etc. I don't understand how anyone could think these wonderful, enduring, tools are "evil".

    This is a firearm originally designed in the 1900's that is still one of the most popular designs of all time. The 1911 is considered by many to be as accurate, reliable, and rugged as any of the most modern firearms available. I inherited one that had originally been made for the U.S. Army in 1918 and belonged to my great-grandfather; it still functions perfectly to this day.

    And I believe that just because you have something to hide doesn't mean you shouldn't be able/allowed to hide it. Everybody has plenty of persoanl information and they should have every right to resist it becoming public.

    Nobody gets into "extreme" sports because they think it's safe. Ever seen freestyle motocross? Jumping 50+ feet in the air with a 200lb motorcycle doesn't sound too safe either.

    Actualy, I think that most individuals who have contributed to the linux kernel still hold the copyright on their portion of the code, unless they have explicitly transfered the copyright to someone else.

    BUT, since so much of the kernel at this point consists of derivative works of derivative works etc., I'm still not sure who would be the one to take legal action.

    It should be noted that the new Zaurus is already price competetive with similar high end PocketPCs (with only 1/4 the resolution) at around $700. While that's not exactly affordable to me, it compares pretty favorably with existing tech.

    BTW I saw the new Zaurus at CES last weekend and it has by far the best looking PDA display I've ever seen. It was incredibly sharp, bright, and readable even with very small fonts.

    How do you figure that carbon dioxide is any-toxic? It seems to me that all the ways it could hurt you are pretty obviously not chemically disrupting bodily function. For example, it could suffocate you by displacing breathable air but the same goes for water and pillows.

    I don't think that parallel refered to the old ieee1284 type parallel port, I think "parallel and serial ata" meant "old fashioned ribbon cable type ide" and serial ata.

    Wow, It's never taken me more than two days to legally buy a gun. Even that was atypical, the Arizona DPS was having problems with the backgroungd check system. Typically my gun purchases take about a half hour. If I go to the trouble to get a CCW permit (16-hour class for $125 and $50 DPS application fee) I can buy guns without any extra checks (this is really the only reason I'd get a CCW, around here you can openly carry and no one even blnks).

    Wal-Mart certainly does sell un-weenied M-rated games. I got GTA3 there a couple months ago and is still definitley M (blood, hookers, swearing, etc.).

    FYI a .22 round is about 5.45mm. Also though the Quark matter has vastly more energy than a .22, the .22 is likley to impart 100% of it's energy to a human body. Even though a 2 ton 250 mile/second chunk of quark matter has around 20,000 times more energy than a .22, it's unlikley that any measurable percentage of that would be lost in a soft body when you consider that the diameter of a cell is only around 10 micrometers.

    You realize that these routers do provide a degree of firwalling simply by being NAT devices? And that there is no 'logging off' the router from it's internet connection?

    Geez, this is like suggesting that you should give up on chess or go and play "Hungry Hungry Hippos" instead. Somtimes the enjoyment comes more from the quality and depth of gameplay than the eye candy, and multiplayer isn't always desirable.
