I found that the idiocy was illustrated most by the quote As you also know, Lee Boyd Malvo trained on Microsoft's Halo to further enable him to become the remarkably efficient "DC Beltway Sniper." That was reported by NBC News at the time and was noted in Malvo's criminal trial.
Maybe I'm too much of a n00b or something, but how does fiddling with a gamepad match up with skill with a sniper rifle?
I dare say there will be a fair few jokes made along the lines of "that's like Jeffrey Dahmer suing young boys for being so delectable and tasty", but I think that misses the point that this issue highlights - that all lawyers should be put in a shuttle and sent directly into the centre of the sun.
My point was mainly drawn from personal experience - I picked up guitar by myself rather than having lessons. I haven't gone to the OLGA for years, because now I can generally figure out a song by myself. However, back when I began learning, tabs helped immensely because they allowed me to play along to songs - otherwise I'd have been just practicing chords with no immediate musical purpose. The tabs may not make a guitarist, but they're certainly a handy tool for getting started, and as has been pointed out a fair bit, the larger portion of music doesn't get printed and released.
And I wonder what this will do to the next generation of musicians? Back when I began learning how to play guitar, much of my progress was because of the availability of free tab, which allowed me to play along with CDs. It would be grimly appropriate if the industries pushing this kind of litigation were shooting themselves in the foot when the talent pool in 20 years has shrunk down as a result.
I'd like to get rid of the landline, but unfortunately cable & wireless is still rather poor here in Australia. Mobiles are all well and good, but I wub my interwebs too much to stop paying the line rental.
Speaking ill of a legend like Miyamoto is not something I would do, and I think the guy at Bungie comes off a little arrogant for doing so
It might just be my reading of the interview, but it seemed more like him making a joke than having a go at Miyamoto...most of his other answers had a lighter touch to them, and his response to the last question was nothing like the summary made it out to be.
Yeah....I really wish the zomgp1r8s!! brigade would realise the difference between downloading a film or TV show for your own use, and running a market stall where pirated DVDs and CDs are sold for profit.
Kind of like the difference between robbing the rich to feed the poor, and robbing the rich to get richer. Except with fewer Merry Men.
The aim was to make a vast bonfire of secrets, but it proved impossible to organise the trucks to take the brown paper sacks to a quarry outside Magdeburg.
Absolutely not. Some of us prefer to have a physical media, a printed cover, DVD extras and the like. I can't be having with any of this fiddling with codecs, badly burnt discs, questionable quality...and above all, the illegality. Downloading a film deprives the studios, the actors and the crews involved in making a film.
So that's why I always steal the DVDs from stores:)
Not so much....the Liberal party is different to Labor inasmuch as the leader effectively controls the party, rather than answering to caucus (looked around on Wikipedia to back that up, with no luck...so referring back to high school and university politics classes). And at this point in time, the Liberal MPs are pretty tightly in Howard's grasp.
Personally, I prefer to direct to a major party (hint: not Liberal) for the House of Representatives, and give my votes (I always vote below the line) for the Senate to minors. They're more likely to win a seat in the Upper House, and your preferences aren't directed by the elderly campaigners handing out their flyers:)
Somehow, short sighted people forget about a guy named HITLER, and STALIN, and POL POT.
Well, the US never actually went to war with Stalin, preferring to speak loudly while carrying a large stick. As for Pol Pot, American bombing of Cambodia, a further illegal act in a never-actually-declared war allowed Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge to rise to power. American never actually did anything about Pol Pot when he was in power.
You scare the crap out of me.
And your grasp of history scares me. America isn't the cause of all evil in the world, but your "My country, right or wrong" attitude is nauseatingly naive.
Unfortunately, the best way to get Howard out is to vote Labor. I can't say I'm enamoured of them, but it's not a case of wanting Labor in Government...it's a case of wanting Howard out.
Having said that, voting for a minor party first, then giving your first preference to Labor and putting the Liberals last does roughly the same thing, but yeah. After 11 years, I've gotten to the stage where I'm willing to sacrifice the Democrats or another minor party to kick Howard out of office.
I went through my old school there, and I actually found the site to be pretty decent. Sure, there's some kids (usually still at the school) who will flame, but you'll find that anywhere...even Slashdot (no, I jest). If we can compare and rate products, there's no reason that the free market can't rate teachers. If they're actually good, then nothing like this will inhibit their teaching.
That's MS's biggest problem. IE7 looks a lot prettier than IE6, but catching up to the competition won't make me ditch FF....
Now if they could jump three steps ahead of them, I might consider it. Their problem is while IE7 catches up to FF1.5, Mozilla is working on 2, 3 & even 4.
Troll? I'd tend to agree...look at all the things Vista was supposed to have back when it was Longhorn which fell along the wayside despite being hyped...WinFS being the most memorable.
Well, there's an idea....I wonder how long it will be before some enterprising young hacker worms their way into controlling Sony's Folding@Home network? 250,000 PS3s could create more than a few DDoS attacks...
The Government(s) will do what they always do in regards to technology: belatedly make short sighted laws that don't address the way the technology has changed nor the needs of their constituency, but do address the needs of those poor hungry lobbyists.

is millions of 13 year olds cheering, as their first taste of pr0n surfing remains within their grasp.

They did try to do the same study with the Zune, but were unable to find anyone to participate

I was under the impression that the government and everything it owns, collectively, belong to the American People
:)
Where do you think you are, Soviet Russia?
Half of Mars May Have Ice
;)
Wow, and to think that they say we have an ice problem here!

Anyone have a better candidate for President? How about Steve Jobs? :-P

I think the current administration may already have a reality distortion field
making animals be like humans

being able to play FFVII in full speed on the road is nothing short of amazing
;)
Remind me not to drive near you
