I wonder if it's also a clever way of Apple raising the price of downloads? $0.99 has become a ubiquitous price for music downloads, but if they sell a better product at a higher price, then phase out the DRM-laden $0.99 songs, what would be left? Dropping the price of something that is still selling isn't really that common...
I would also say, if you wish to buy a RIAA-released album, buy it second hand from ebay or any number of S/H stores. It does depend upon someone buying the album new, of course, but it'll always happen. Second hand CDs are cheaper, the RIAA gets exactly $0 and S/H stores also tend to have stuff that stores selling new CDs don't.
A fair point, but I'm not sure exactly where he'd be getting money from now. He sure as hell wouldn't have time to actually represent clients, with all the frivolous lawsuits he keeps on submitting. I wouldn't think that too many media outlets would even need to offer him payment to get him to rant about gaming.
Although if I had a PS3, I would probably turn it off when I wasn't using it or downloading something. If the researchers pay for my electricity, maybe ; )
The only thing that phone cameras have over real cameras is they're with you most of the time, as I seldom carry my digital camera with me unless I'm intending to take pictures in advance. No one could seriously compare the two, unless they were astro-turfing or partially blind.
Which is a hell of a shame. If George had released the Star Wars DVD box set with 7 discs - The new versions and *fully restored* old versions, plus the disc of extras - it'd be up there as one of the best box sets around. Whoever put the Alien Quadrilogy together knew what they were doing; it's a great set, and what was released for SW (whilst good) didn't do the trilogy justice.
Were I to indulge in genre-wank (which I'm about to), I'd call it space fantasy or something along that nature. Princess Leia's bikini fits the bill there, all right;)
Agreed. Buying a worthwhile version of Vista (if there is such a thing) is apparently designed to be painful.
On another note, I don't think I like the description of Microsoft as a juggernaut. That implies that they're a big monolithic thing...that moves forward.
Personally, while this is a good move, I'm not going to be hugely interested in online distribution of films until A) DSL speeds, which are crap in Australia, get better, and download limits either abolished or increased dramatically - so that I can buy a film and come back in an hour or so for it; B) VOB files or DivX/Xvid- I want to watch a DVD quality film on my TV, not my computer; C) Prices that aren't comparable to a DVD - I'm getting a (hopefully) burnt disc, not a proper pressed unit with cover and insert; and D) Utilisation of Bittorrent? Effective way to get films now, so there's no reason they couldn't get that working..
But yeah, well done to Apple for getting another on side, look forward to seeing if XBox live can come up with something similar (or, um, badly copied;)
Not to mention they make the CD crack in very cool spidery circles. Almost turns them into attractive coasters, at that;) we found the coloured CDs worked best for that.
True, but there's a reason for that...cheap latecomers to the party like me;) PS2s dropping to AUD$166 and cheap PS2 games are a pretty good incentive to buy...not to mention the fact that since they've been out a while, it's easy to find out what is good and what is dross. It'd be much more painful to find out that your spanking new PS3 game is a steaming pile when you've dropped $100-130 on it.
True that. However, as Jon Stewart pointed out, Republicans are superior to Democrats in almost every political trick and practice. Well, that and the fact that blowjobs sell more copy than boring things like corruption.
Actually, I think it's the computer in Weird Ed Edison's room, but yeah, you're right. Except when I tried it I had the game hang and crash...I think it's a little outside the emulator's capability. However, it's freely available on abandonware sites by itself.
However, I'm amazed by how far down I had to scroll to find an "In Soviet Russia" joke.
Seems there really is a time when something is too obvious for Slashdot!;)
Now if only someone can write an adding & subtracting game for the PS3, I can start lobbying politicians here to subsidise those...for educational purposes =)
In fact, the Wii promotes physical fitness as well, so they'd better give us one of them too. [It might seem weird to give us a game of a sport rather than encouraging us to actually do said sport, but it's not. It's progress =)]

That's right, his Chainsaw of Natural Selection is a real killer :)
Does this mean his next frivolous lawsuit will have the addendum 'IANAL'? :)
So let me see....NIN are releasing the unadultarated tracks so other people can have a go at mixing and remixing the songs...
;)
I guess the next step involves giving everyone guitars so they can write the songs for them?
Myself, I'm going to breach copyright by singing "Ding Dong the witch is dead" a few times ;)

However, is pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter much of a time saver compared to actually typing .org?
They may be almost extinct. Terry Pratchett wrote about the Smoking Gnu, so they're probably all dying of cancer.
I'm an environmentalist, I'll only live under biodegradable objects ;)

However, I believe that the Free Trade Agreements the US has been pushing around tend to require that countries sign similar laws into being.

I was amazed to find out that a Windows OS will probably get malware.
:)
That's it for today. Time to go to my home under a log. Where I've been living for the last two decades

they sold more PS2s than PS3s

I like that...."My downloads are paid for by the billboards I'm inundated with everywhere". ;)
