It is also not like they didnt know something like this could have happened either. Terrorists have only been hijacking planes since what was it the 70's? Combine that with suicide bombers in the homeland and they should have been able to put 2 and 2 together.

Its like seeing your house robbed and going 'Meh' and not putting a new lock on the door. If you get robbed again its all your fault.

Well to be technical, Novell has 2 options... They can choose to continue using GPLv2 components and become obsolete over time or they can move to GPLv3 and realize the Microsoft deal is dead in the water.

The FOSS community gets hung up on the philosophy because to be honest if you do not adhere to your original philosophy then you end up like Google's 'Do No Evil' philosophy. Basically it gets ignored or back burner-ed for the reasons of profit.

Remember that the GPL was about making free software available to all. It was also designed to protect developers and projects from the overreaching commercial interests that the Microsoft-Novell deal basically puts into writing. Just look at the terms of it, they explicitly exclude Open Office, Wine and I think Samba... If Microsoft was serious about extending the olive branch to the OSS community they would not have made these glaring exceptions in the Novell deal.

I still stand by my claim that a developer or GM does not need to play the game (at least in a live environment) to find out what is broken balance-wise. Plus on these test servers people actually expect things that would be considered rampant cheating in a live environment as commonplace or normal (IE. Giving people ships loaded to the gills and such).

Hello Mr. AC... I have a wonderful job opportunity for you at the MAFIAA. Anyways yeah like someone else said, if it is using taxpayers money then you can argue that the state and by extension the people own the copyright on it. If the people want to post it on YouTube then they damn well can if they want to. Especially if it is a live feed being streamed out to the internet for anyone to see and not some password protected site. Not like they can claim DMCA on something that had no DRM protection measures on it to begin with.

Yeah... It does not make sense that the very same people who may or may not have the power to magically poof a ship into existence for themselves should be permitted to play as a 'player' regardless if they pay for it or not.

You have to have some level of neutrality and/or transparency among your administration or you end up with things like this were every little thing gets blown into a big old drama fest. If your policy is to simply fire anyone who plays AND GM's then it is pretty clear. You should also make such incidents publicly known when they do occur so the community knows that you are serious about enforcement of your own rules upon yourself.

The best way to make sure the entire world gets clean drinking water and adequate health care (I'm not going to say medicine specifically) is education. If they learn how to filter water with local/cheap to import materials then they wont need to have water purification systems shipped in from the first world and more of the charity $$$'s can go towards actual food and medicines. Also education will sooner or later lead to locals taking up the health care professions (Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons) in their home countries. If they learn these skills then at best the first world would only need to supply medicine instead of sending doctors and medicine over.

Yes that is what we're told. If you are in public there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. Honestly, if I was the student I'd be suing the school over the whole 40 days thing as 'cruel and unusual punishment' since its overly excessive academic punishment (Imagine getting life in prison for parking in a handicapped spot). Also it is a violation of first amendment rights and if there is any lies in the video (such as the bit about her hygiene) then its up to the teacher to sue the kid responsible and introduce them to the adult world of small claims court. Think of it as giving them a learning experience they wont forget

Also I've done some pretty bad things in school like telling the principal to 'fuck off' and such. I've never been suspended for more than 3 days. Thankfully that was all in grade school, I hit high school and it was almost instant maturity. I graduated from high school with honors and honor roll for the entirety of my 2 year college program (Its an IT related one so it was pretty easy)
