Finland, the country with miss finland decicing about school and copy protection stuff (dunno how they are relevant), already has exactly like this. You are not allowed to circumvent copy protection for any use, and you are not even allowed to discuss the methods or spread software that can do it.
That women who has been pushing it (Tanja Karpela) is quite a big joke here, and she just blogs about stuff like how our capitol city should get more "for elite only" clothing stores. We're in good hands.
I suppose the deciding factor is the price -- value for money. And as we know Microsoft has never failed to deliver on that one...
So you arent using Windows right? Its still the os you get most out of, specially if you're playing games. And dont get me wrong, I have linux servers aswell, but they dont compare to desktop usage or gaming. Theres also lots of products and games I've been happy that Microsoft has released and more than gave me entertainment for the money.
And I dont think the idea about subscription model to program is that, as long as you pay small percent of the whole price. And if you happen to be disappointed with the full version after buying it, it wont cost you that much. Just end the subscription.
I first modded this down as a troll, since Analytics is just a regular statistics scripts for webmaster. However, then I got it; its so clever. That Analytics service is used on millions of websites, almost every site uses it (slashdot aswell). Its a great tool, easy to use and free aswell. Theres no ads, and theres no any paid or premium user like service. And you know why? It brings more data to Google than anyone could ever imagine.
Google Analytics script is now on almost every site on internet. They could and can easily track users movement on internet, from site to site. So what I can fastly see, they can track users both with ads and the more hidden (and cleverly disguised) Analytics. And you know even their file systems are designed so that the data takes months or even years to _really_ delete?
And the best part is, they dont need any browser toolbar thingies to track users.. Ah silly me. They do have that aswell:)

How do you do server to server transfers with http? With FTP you can FXP the files directly from another server to another. This is great if you're moving large files occasionally, since your own crappy upload speed wont come in the way.
You do not even need vmwaretools to detect if its running inside vmware. Theres small differences in memory and virus creators have used these tricks for long to mess around with antivirus companies trying to figure out how the virus works and what it does. For example this code also detects if running inside vmware
But you must admit that it is still up after going live on the front page of Slashdot. Can your image laden, flash driven, AJAX-ified, web 2.0 site claim that? Seems to be down now.:)
The funniest thing is that only one human maintains the list as his side job. And he seems to suck at it.
Expect Slashdot getting added to the list in 3.. 2.. 1..
Its weird how much news coverage Yahoo has got after Microsoft's interest to buy them. In my opinion they're turning it around greatly and using it as and advantage. Or can anyone disagree after reading about Yahoo on slashdot every day?:)
Did they forgot Sweden? In Sweden, even politicans back up The Pirate Bay. On the other hand, we have polar bears roaming in the streets so maybe they're just afraid.
P2P group maVen used the same trick aswell to flee from the police. Wonder if this is what Microsoft is trying to do with the Yahoo antitrust stuff aswell.
Kind of same thing with Google. Even their file system works in a way that it takes years for something really get deleted (your youtube videos etc). They archive everything.
in order to feel fully dominant, they must own it against our will. It's as though they think that if we wanted to use their products because they were good for us and worked in our best interest, it would not be true show of their power, for we'd be rational in wanting such products. Only if they can force their software down our throats whether we want it or not, do they have full assurance that their power is real. Money is about showing your power. No surprise there:-)
Exactly. And I will be there spamdexing shit out of it and lowering my competitors.
I'm not. Google for something and you'll see on the right side why theres no adblock. :)
And you think Google will add it? Just think a bit and you figure out why they wont :)
I can verify it did have those tags and was exactly the same exe. Ubisoft just pulled it out of the site when news got out (already some time ago).
What you have been waiting for
However usually it doesnt increment at all, as most variables default to zero/false
This is not hate speech, but your use of ...... sucks.

"NetAudioAds". Every time visitor visits site they hear 5-10 secs audio clip. Now thats nice and not intrusive :-)

Thats also why those file upload services that encrypt the file during transfer are great.

Anakata from The Pirate Bay also talked on tv about commenting their a few years ago bust and working style of anti-piracy companies.
