the Xtreme Music was the low-end model and was discontinued last year, to be replaced by the Xtreme Gamer. The Elite Pro is still Creative's highest-end X-Fi. At least NVidia (for example) adds some numbers into their naming scheme. All this "Elite" and "Fatal1ty" garbage that Creative uses confuses me to no end.
The Auzentech cards do not support "Dolby Dolby Live" or "DTS Interactive" under Linux. Source: Auzentech FAQ.
That means if you are using multichannel audio from a non-DVD source, such as a game, you will be stuck with using the ol' spaghetti mess of analogue cables.
AFAICT the Creative X-Fi doesn't do realtime digital encoding at all.
I can only hope that ASUS provides support by the way of linux drivers, but, considering their lacklustre driver support for all their other hardware I have purchased, I'm not going to hold my breath.
Dang it, someone is going to have to update the Wiki for Tsunami and change the definition.
A tsunami is a series of waves created when a body of water, such as an ocean, or a giant ball of burning hydrogen, is rapidly displaced.
We had docks secured by Kensington locks at one of my cubicle farms. These docks are setup in such a way that you can simply push/pull a lever to release the laptop, but once the Kensington is attached the laptop is locked in.
This is fine for protecting against someone walking in off the street and walking out with your laptop however it will not save you from a determined thief. One morning we came to work and discovered a thief had managed to steal several laptops by partially destroying their docks.
Also a dock generally requires that you have a laptop that supports docking. Not all laptops do.
Actually I had the same thought as the GP, how *do* you measure creativity? The answer seems to be "not very well". Unlike testing for knowledge or intelligence, creativity is a very subjective trait that depends as much upon the tester as it does upon the testee.
Visual Arts is a great example of this: show a selection of modern art (such as Mondrian, Christo, Pollock, etc) to a number of people and you will without a doubt find people that would not even consider them to be art, let alone consider them creative.
For the longest time phpBB did not even have the option to force users to authenticate their email address let alone use any captcha on the registration page. For this reason many existing phpBB forums are flooded with fake accounts, and possible these were used in order to post the links or malware.
I do not believe anyone really knows what market share the various forums have, but it is generally believed that the most popular are Simple Machines, phpBB, vBulletin, and Invision Power Board (in no particular order).
I cannot believe that phpBB has so many successful attacks simply because it has a large installation base, otherwise these other forum softwares would also be suffering the same fate.
Oh god that site is golden. I knew we were onto something special when I came across the explanation:
Brightness eats darkness. but it keeps getting better after that, somehow they manage to wrangle this into the argument:
Maybe the industry didn't add enough security factor to CDs and that's why many people still feel that analog is sometimes better. I look forward to reading this guy's review of the Matrix trilogy.
Or just wait for someone else to rip and compress them and make available on the intertubes. If you already "own" a copy, is there anything so wrong about watching someone else's version?
Am I not the only one to think Quicktime was not exactly the most intelligent choice for a "a movie format that will supported by all hardware and OS combinations"?
The videos I tried crashed Media Player Classic using Quicktime Alternative codecs. But I guess I only have myself to blame for not installing that highly functional brushed silver "Quicktime Player".
The current headcount for the protest is still less than 9000. The largest single protests appear to be averaging around 500 anons (London, Los Angeles). For a local community protest these would be reasonable numbers, for a globally coordinated targeted protest - it is absurdly small.
all while still pulling fairly ridiculous numbers I would agree if you intended "ridiculous" as in "laughable"...
You Apple haters sure are tedious, not every article needs to be about the end of the world you know. Article? No, this is a slashvertisment for Apple. I see nothing noteworthy about the post nor about the product.
I am not an Apple hater, but all this publicity about an overpriced MP3 player with a non-tactile user interface, no FM-Radio, no expansion slots, etc, etc is all pretty boring to pretty much everyone except the diehards.

Bands often report that most of their income is from Tours and associated merchandise, rather than their record sales.
:)
So to improve on your already liberal behaviour you could pirate the songs and then attend the band's concert and buy an overpriced t-shirt.
And then donate the shirt to Vinnies.
Just a thought
...was the subject line that I expected after reading the summary.
Find and locate for all the redundant and unnecessary terms in this post:
X-ray Radiography

You're confusing me... are you saying that Creative hardware doesn't suck?
Thankyou, that made my day.
I haven't read a paperback years, yet now I am determined to catch up on more of Clarke's writings.

It's targeted because it is/was popular and has/had serious exploits.

Perhaps those technically adept people choose not to stand behind an X-ray scanner for 12 hours a day.
Or just wait for someone else to rip and compress them and make available on the intertubes. If you already "own" a copy, is there anything so wrong about watching someone else's version?
In Soviet Russia, perl writes legal system.
what if i want to put my own comment in quotes?
Not only is the equine stiff, it's also starting to smell quite bad.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a digital iris.
Mmmm'kay!

Where's the competition? Sansa View 32GB flash player, seen on Amazon for $350.
Well go and buy some Computer Socks.
Silly AC.
Everyone knows it will stay underground, whey we're worried about is when it comes back up. Ever heard of Lake Nyos?
