    When I'm asked who would I choose between the new candidates I often go for the oldest if I see the passion for computers in them.

    Older people are much more reliable, though not as fast as younger, they are less incline to fuck up something.

    In the end you need a balance, so experienced people will always be needed.

    Only if you consider it as a stand-alone virus.

    Most of the viruses today are able to integrate different viruses. First you get infected with a 0-day exploit and then the virus will download what it needs to further fuck you up.

    Also with those two plug-ins the security is almost perfect.

    Considering that most of the viruses comes throw adds, not displaying them makes your browser the safest around.

    Security is the last thing M$ cares.

    I saw warez from the pre Internet era, all that has changed in all this years is that it has become more easier to obtain.

    Back then for 0-day you had to be close to the underground, now it's all available with one anonymous click.

    The only way to prevent it's on-line checking, but you can't enforce it for off-line experience, you just can't.

    I moved to the Canary Island las year and I make my living as a Internet / software guru.

    In Spain the maximum upload you can get is 320kbps. Legally all they need to provide is at least 25% of the declared speed. When you complain about packet lost they don't understand, care or listen what are you talking about.

    We have 4 VOIP server across Europe and we switch between them according to the last amount of packet lost on the line.

    It's not about how fast Microsoft can go, but are they on the right road?

    With XP IT has experience, this is why they don't want to change it, after all this years of tweaking most of the images are perfect.

    If we have to change this, let's go with Linux and stop this stupid upgrade cycle once and for all.

    This is why you use Standby + Hibernate.

    My Asus EEE - Win XP comes from Standby in 1 sec and Hibernate take 15sec to boot, counting also the bios boot time.

    Under battery it goes into Standby in 5 min or when I put down the cover. After 15min in standby it goes into Hibernate, so I don't have to think if I need it in the next minute or the next day.

    Linux is not very friendly when it comes to Standby + Hibernate.

    I was ready to give up on Windows, but since gaming is part of my life and Windows 7 won't have all the bloatware M$ wants to put in, maybe just maybe, it might be faster then XP for future games.

    Still my WRT54GL on tomato can act as a proxy server wherever I am.

    I still have to find a firewall that is able to block me. All I need is port 80 to work.
