Perhaps despite the myth that Joystiq continue to spread, PS3 owners actually DO use Playstation Home regularly, millions of them infact.... Microsoft want some of this for Xbox.
Is EVERY slashdot reader a pirate that never pays for anything? Sometimes it seems like every single American is just downloading illegal content all day long, and complaining when companies try and protect their revenue.
Clearly this can't go on. Expect a drop in investment in Movies/Music/Games/whatever if people continue to steal..
It won't lead to a more open system. All these idiot hackers have ensured, is that the PS4 won't come with OtherOS or ability to use lots of different USB devices and your own HDD. It will be locked down in every possible respect.
The big question is, are there actually people stupid enough to try this out? I mean a permanently banned console is worthless, and basically throwing your money away...
Seems clear they would rather gimp their consoles and screw over gamers before paying Blu-Ray royalties to Sony...
Nice priorities....
My broadband has trouble with iPlayer at busy times of day, a 720p HD picture that's reliable and not compressed to hell is still a VERY long way away, let alone a 1080P one. I am not out in the stick, I live in a large UK city, half a mile from my exchange.
Microsoft are in cuckoo land if the really think Blu-Ray quality HD content can be delivered to everyone in the next 10 years. Clearly they only started thinking this way after the failure of HD-DVD...
It's a vicious circle. People don't include Opera because of it's marketshare, thus it never improves it's marketshare.
Slashdot actively declines submissions about Opera, but hapilly accepts the same submissions about Firefox. I have tested some submissions which are copies of approved Firefox stories relating to Opera, and they never get approved...
Not that I really care. I know that Opera is the best browers, I just laugh at all the losers that can't discover that for themselves and rely on the media and manipulated bencharks to tell them what to use.
We all know Opera 10.62 pretty much rules is ALL benchmarks (including Mozillas own). This joke post decides to use an old version of Opera and new versions of other browsers...
Anyone that thinks this benchmark has ANY credibility because they have cherrypicked new development versions vs older slower versions of other browsers is frankly, a fool.
Saw a demo of this yesterday, and can't say i'm that impressed. Gonna give it a miss. It's just another cash-in rehash. I'm sure scores of dumb American trailer-trash fanboys will queue up at K-Mart to buy this on their Xboxes thou...
Hey moron, Opera has all of those, in Opera it's not just an Adblocker, it's a full blown content blocker, you can block adverts, flash, ANY plugin, cookies or remote javascript.
I think that's the wrong question, as Chrome really is a poor alternative to Opera these days. Opera does everything Chrome does, better, faster and more complete.
So what does Opera do that Firefox can't? A hell of a lot... You might want to check it out. It already comes with a full content blocker, noscript, greasemonkey and sycing capabilites all built right in.
It thrashes chrome is performance, it totally obliterates Firefox.
Opera Mobile is the most widely used mobile webbrowser, significantly ahead of webkit.
On the desktop it's marketshare is small, but it's by far the best product. This only highlights how product quality has no bearing on what American consumers use, they just use what the New York Times tells them to use.
Surely Opera is now the benchmark for performance, not V8. (10.60 beats V8, even in Chrome6 by some margin). Opera is also more complain with Javascript according to Googles own Sputnik tests, it's also has better HTML5 and CSS3 support...
They seem to think this generation is over the moment that the "Wii hype" collapses. The reality of course, is like last gen, Sony will have dominated by the end. It's quite easy to picture a scenario 5 years from now, where like the PS2, the PS3 will have shifted 200m+ consoles, WAY more than the Wii.
Perhaps despite the myth that Joystiq continue to spread, PS3 owners actually DO use Playstation Home regularly, millions of them infact.... Microsoft want some of this for Xbox.
No GIT is a pain in the ass to setup and use, with abysmal support. I gave up and used SVN instead.

You can thank idiots like Geohot for that.

Whatever you say Microsoft...

and PS Move is WAY better. By a factor of 10.
The games are WAY better too. At least the EU Move games....

As for the idiots tht think this is a Wiimote copy. You know it predates the WiiMote by at least 3 years? The following video is from 2003

Errm, have you ACTUALLY looked at Opera? FF4 and Chrome have pretty much ripped off Opera's UI verbatim...

They did test, found out Opera came out on top, so used an old version of Opera instead...
Clearly they knew what result they wanted before they started and manipulated the versions under test to achieve that.
You would have to be a moron to actually believe this source.

Opera 10.62 is 50% faster than Opera 10.5

Good riddance to the freetards in life. Why should I pay more because THEY freeload.

And pretty darn awesome it is too. Feels much faster than both Chrome and Firefox, is more fully features than them too.
I also like the really decent content and plugin blocking options, global and per-site.
I really don't believe this to be true.
Kinect cannot even tell left from right, would you really trust it with your logons and private data?

Also, the WHOLE E3 Kinect demo was faked, making the entire industry look like a bunch of clueless chumps..

Clearly they are idiots, if they think Opera is less secure than IE6.
I DO however see how Chrome can be a problem, with it's tracking stuff thou.
It removes the LED from the from so RROD is not possible, (it has to be called something else like a E74 error).
It still scratches discs.
New Xbox, same old crap for piss-poor American design and low-budget manufacturing.

As everyone knows they aren't linked.
You can have the worst products but throw enough marketing at something, and you can still gain marketshare (Xbox, iPhone examples of this).
If product quality and features are what leads to marketshare/userbase, then Opera would be out on top by a very long margin.
Diaspora is just a poor mans Opera Unite from what I can tell.
Surely Opera own patents on this?
clearly morons.

I would suspect the end game will be.
PS3 240m
Wii 140m
Xbox360 60m
Opera 10.53 is faster than it on my Quad Core Q8300 with 4GB RAM and Win7 x64...
So I take any claims of it "blowing everything else out the water" as just Chrome fanboy talk.
