Using existing pieces of code wherever possible would reduce your development cycle and earn you more money.
In addition, the piece of code is tried and tested(most of the times) and if there is a problem you have all the freedom to fix it.
Why not to use OSS should be the question.
Evil would mean using tactics which give unfair advantage. Evil doesn't necessarily mean acting according to free markets.
I remember a story of grass blade and a big tree. When a storm comes, it uproots the tree as its inflexible but the grass survives as it was flexible. Hence, acting according to the weather is important and is not necessarily evil
Isn't this exactly what free markets and free economy says? Dollar is more important!
An organization has to be agile to earn money. If Google decides that it won't serve China, it would loose revenue, an organization in the US would lose revenue, pay less taxes and that would affect already stretched government and its fiscal deficit? Do you want to go down that path?
Not to mention outsourcing support to India. Had a phone call from hell once. Person in India had *no way at all* of telling me if a particular office was opened or closed, and could not connect me to anyone within the company that would know. Off topic as this may be, the US does need to stop relying so heavily on other countries, and stop basing decisions based on other countries' actions.
Aren't these policies about information sharing defined by someone sitting in the US? Any customer contact center is as effective and efficient as the information they are provided by the organization, this needs to come from the higher management. If you are receiving bad service, may be once, think of the role of management providing incorrect / incomplete information to folks talking to you.
Yes! I have karma to burn:)
This shows how ignorant you are...go and do some research before posting.
Indian Goverment school provides free lunch to their students. So, India does take care that they feed people while teaching them to feed themselves.
I graduated in 2002 when it was hard to find jobs, so I started with whatever I got. The first job that I got was in Tech Support. Its a nice field and you get to learn lots of important aspects that will help you throughout your career. The most important one is working under pressure.
I then shifted to managing a team of developers working on the same product that I supported. And now I have an offer to lead a testing team.
There were lots of advice about choosing management as field but remember that you cannot get into management without doing the initial groundwork and Technical support job is a good one contrary to the popular belief.
Now this qualifies to be a monkey business
Now this is getting boring..I have even lost the score. Seems like honeypots are more difficult than Sony network
BSOD is imminent with or without the patch.
WTF#
We knew of websites being slashdotted, now we are slashdotting the offered services.
We Rule!
Sorry to double post, in addition to the benefits above, it also showcases your ability to think about modules and integration skills.
Use OSS as you don't want to reinvent the Wheel.

And we are increasing the publicity by discussing this.

Off-topic warning, tread at your own risk!
Shouldn't Santa be given Nobel peace prize? He deserves it more than some recipients.

Well, Now you know what to do when the bus runs out of fuel.

Was that guy testing the usability of his girlfriend or Hardy Heron?
Microsoft and Goodwill don't go hand in hand. How about that?
They are talking about cores with respect to GPUs not core dumps
