Oh wow, you can talk with a lot more people! I sure feel a lot better about my education stalling. I bet that's what colleges have in mind when they shove courses down our throats that will never be remembered because we only have enough motivation to cram a day before the test and forget it. There's no way it has anything to do with the revenue that they gain from tuition.
Seriously, if I want to learn about history, I'm old enough to research on my own. Colleges are there to confirm that you have the proper knowledge/aptitude within your given field, not make up for a shitty public education system.
Not to mention it's a pain in the ass. Even if people want to die, it's only to end their suffering, the anticipation of death is still distressful. I'd take the trip to Amsterdam & coke-overdose vacation package over this any day.
Not that I'm unhappy with the decision, but now when people in the US propose it, they can say "*gasp*! That's communism! Just look, Russia is doing it!" And of course, any attempt to point out that it's been a capitalist country will be in vain.
China's brand of socialism is bullshit. It's plain fascism...
China is a de-facto capitalist country, I hate how people still call the country socialist/communist when they have less industry regulations than the US. Also, Communism has nothing to do with despotism. It's the polar opposite in fact, with the elimination of capital gain to remove the accumulation of power (which is why Karl Marx had en element that could accumulate power removed from each stage of governmental principal).
This is one of the few "wall of text" posts that I've clicked "read the rest of this comment" to. I suggest everyone else do that same as well, as this is definitely the most informative/insightful post listed here, and I wish they had a hard-to-achieve +6 in the Slashdot system so this would be the most apparent, because it would deserve it.
The editors most likely read comments, so why not counter-troll instead of feeding them? I'll start:
There is no way this system would work. I can see large-scale disasters caused by smudges being erroneously generated. No to mention that our current market is run by advertisements. Don't you think that of all ads were blocked, IP would be worthless? Then the US would slowly get poorer as our lack of foresight is clouded by individual gain. This kind of behaviour has to stop.
(note to all wise-asses, yes I know the "YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE TROLLED" method of trolling isn't effective, but I'm just getting the ball rolling)
It's usually measured by Libraries of Congress of peer-review journals or metric fucktonnes of Graduate student brains, but at the rate we're going, we'll be using the Bricks shit per American.
I've bothered to actually watch the fine video, and the movements are still on the near side of the creepy valley.
Saying that it's a bit creepy is like saying that Nazis are a bit anti-semitic. If I saw that thing in my room I wouldn't rest until a priest douses its ashes with holy water.
I remember watching a show on knock-off goods sold in China. Some spokesman for Gucci was talking about how they recently made a bust on counterfeit goods and how they potentially earned the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. I couldn't help but laugh at how out-of-touch this dumb-ass was. Does he think honestly think that the country's peasants (who make a big deal out of eating steak with their rice) would save up to buy an authentic Gucci handbag? Similarly, how fucking stupid do you have to be to think that you can stop them from saving money on software. Because that's how they look at it. There are two alternatives in their eyes: free pirated software, and free non-pirated software. No one is going to give two shits about Microsoft's poor employees.
Actually, it's more like conning than selling. Do you actually think that they are required to tell the truth when coercing them? Also, one of the biggest proponents of the 11 billion that the country has pissed away was influenced by the unit, so I'm assuming it may have had at least a little impact. What's also scummy about this is that he explicitly used a unit meant only for the enemy on US citizens (which is EXACTLY what the law says NOT to do). On top of that, in order to can his case, they ruined the career of a female major under him, saying she had inappropriate relationships with him.
It's news because in addition to detecting for objects such as life jackets, breakthroughs in analyzing software also has the ability to search for pairs of concentric circles located on anyone in a visible area, and prioritize them by size.
That's right I made a boob joke, go ahead and mod me down, it was worth it.
How is algorithm development relevant to "various interactions of the hardware components"? Ironically enough, your statement contradicts him. I'm in the course of getting my CS degree, and the reason that they call it computer science is because we are specifically taught the various interactions of hardware components. Yes, we are taught data structures and how to use them, but those are techniques that are based on the system architecture. In my school, if you major in electrical engineering and computer science, you can take 2 more courses and get a third BS in computer engineering.
Thanks for posting that I lost my Tamriel map that came with Oblivion. Sucks that it's where the Nords live, I was hoping that it would be located in the Summerset Isles, I bet the high elves have some awesome cities. One thing I really have to berate Bethesda for is the lack of variety of the environment. The game would have been twice as good if they kept some environments like the Dwenmer ruins (steam-punk ftw) and the cool plant-like cities that the Telmora grew in Morrowind. If they combined the best aspects of Morrowind with Oblivion, it would have been one awesome game (not that it already wasn't). Oh, and quit feeding the trolls.
Why the hell is it called jail breaking when applying these modifications? It should have nothing to do with jail, and you're certainly not breaking it. I say, hence forth, we call it 'freedom upgrading'.
I hate it when people categorize video games as childish or immature. There are countless RTS games (and quite a few from other genres) that require a plethora of strategy and critical thinking. And how is 'go' so much better than chess? Just because computers can routinely beat chess champions and not go champions does not make it any less intellectually stimulating. In fact, 'go's impermeability to computerized victory is attributed more to a lack of computational power. Make a game small enough and min/max trees will make it impossible to win against the computer.
As to the OP's question, no, you are not losing your mojo. Yes, games may seem less novel over time, but what you're also experiencing is your inability to sift through all the crap and find a decent game. A good story with well executed game mechanics is always rare, but ignored when it is novel to you. It's sort of like movies losing appeal because of a crappy story and poor dialog/acting. You don't notice it as a child, but it eventually becomes more crucial to the enjoyment. It just feels like movies get crappier.

Truth be told this woman is right, it IS difficult to keep kids from getting porn. I remember my mother put parental settings on me back in the dark ages of AOL. I used a key logger to track her password and disabled them in a cinch. Then she payed good money to install a program that restricted websites. Again, I got a hex editor, modded a few files and crashed that sucker every time it started up. When I have kids, I'm convincing them that they can't get their fix of big breasts without proving p!=np. They'll win Field Medals in no time.

Hey guys, you know that profitable thing you think we've been doing? You know, the one that causes bad press. We're totally not doing it.

Guess me and Dorthy better take a vacation to Seattle quick. Dorthy is my pet shotgun.

it looks like his idea didn't... *glasses*... develop well.
Well of course it's not working, we haven't thrown enough money at it. Just like drugs.
