Seconded! Sitting through crappy reality shows about fat people losing weight is neigh torture. She feels the same way about Stargate. So I compromise and watch her shows.
It is a work of fiction and a movie. Meant for entertainment value. I enjoyed the movie, and thought it was a great experience.
Those of you who don't want to see it, don't. But stop being a mindless drone (that you accuse others of being), by trashing something you have no experience of.
Get a life!
I would guess that from a money standpoint, that Yahoo! probably gets the money and turns it over to the charity on a monthly or a quarterly (or even yearly) basis. Doing this allows them to use the money for a while, investing it and pocketing the interest.
You are right about this, but the article is referring to the consumer market, not the military and commercial one. There are a lot of reasons for and against dedicated GPS', but they were just trying to find a reason for their slumping sales, and they may have hit the nail on the head, there
This was pretty boring. I kept hoping that it would get interesting, but it didn't. It definitely fits the idle category, but save yourself the time unless you enjoy ranting...
I actually have to agree with mR.bRiGhTsId3. I work for a large company that is moving a lot of their server-side stuff to Windows, and we have desktop clients that use all versions of Windows from Win 95 to XP. Our company is not looking to upgrade anytime soon, and will keep every working desktop going as long as possible.
I am a programmer doing the application conversion, and I use Win XP on a 7-year old machine... (at work, at home I have Vista and Unbuntu)
I found that we all had great input into fixing common problems that we ran into, which never made it into the documentation that was supplied by the company. (I worked for a contract company that handled support for a large computer manufacturer)
We would go to each other for input. Folks from other call centers did not have access to us or we to them, and it would have made a better pool of knowledge, and made resolution time quicker.
I think this is a good idea you have. Good luck with it!
I would guess it is for those who can't type, or don't know where they are...
Business travelers who are in a new place would be my favorite use for it. My sprint AirCard already has GPS anyway...
My goodness, imagine the hardware requirements for this thing... and without any foreseeable return on investment? I guess if anyone can do it, it would be Google.
Maybe Google should bail out the economy. Then no one will argue about the street view invading their privacy, because Google will own the land anyway...
I think you were right to think of Heinlein. I grew up with his books. The political stuff is only there because now YOU have a context to recognize it. They won't.
Starship Troopers, Red Planet, Between Planets, Have spacesuit will travel, Space Cadet...
The whole teenage series is great. I still re-read them every few months myself...
My school uses e-textbooks that can only be accessed from computers, not e-readers. Without my laptop, I cannot access my textbook in class..

Also, add a keyboard!!!
...make it so I can import music I already own, so I don't have to buy the songs yet again.
Oh, shoot, I forgot to disappear!

Probably because Condoms are on the watch list. :)
It is probably more of a contraceptive...

Maybe, but with the number of folks who tear apart those user agreements, we would have heard of it sooner
I might try it. If I could install on my existing computer.

We can always hope that the backup fails. Or maybe Wal-mart can buy the service then turn it off saying that it is not profitable...

100 meter cat 5 limit :)

This is Douglas Adams. A quote from Hitchhiker's guide...
How do you download a grandmother??? (Sorry, can't resist a dangling participle joke)
Actually, no different. It uses the same profile

They are usually under 40, so they would not be affected, but that would mean that they would have to lose the weight after they retired :)
