my dad got our first pc in 1978. when i was born (in 1983) we had gotten a commie 64. i simply can't remember when i first used a computer, because it's been my whole life. i don't know what you're doing with the computer, but my hands feel fine. i think i evolved past carpal tunnel syndrome somehow. the first "OS" i remember using was Power Panel which was really just a DOS gui (and pretty slick, free with a Mouse Systems mouse). then we put in a BNC network and got Windows For Workgroups since dad wasn't actually a tech-head, he was a mechanic. now i use XP primarily with linux on a box i don't actually use for anything except uptime (currently about 2 years i think). so that's what having a child being raised on technology from birth is. not a mozart of computing, just a geek.
It's called a cat. It roams around the house eating anything on the floor and depositing it in a box that needs to be emptied every few days. It was even free!
nanotubes are of course still too expensive to produce, but still, the idea to make something 6 times stronger than traditional carbon fibers just makes me really want these science-geeks figure out how to make a computer chassis out of it so i can throw it at someone at my next lan party.
i think velcro might actually (no fooling) be the official way of bundling cable runs according to the IEEE. we learned this in my Cisco class in high school. i just use tie-wraps:)
Quoting witnesses, police detective Oh Myong-sik in Kwangju said the man had been virtually glued to the computer since late last Friday and had no decent sleep and meals.
All he needed was a mountain dew IV drip and he would have been fine.
Astronomers named the new object Quaoar, after the creation myth of the Tongva people who inhabited the Los Angeles area before the arrival of the Spanish and other European settlers.
To the indigenous peoples, Quaoar was the great force of nature that summoned all other things into being.
despite the hooha about the hardware region controlling, now that/. has said something about this, the powers that be are going to hear about it, and it's probably going to get slapped hard with a lawsuit or a c&d order. get it before the MPAA opens up again on monday!
As the events were happening, most of the major news sites were getting knocked down or were being sluggish about things. At my college, I had mentioned to my RA that www.slashdot.org had good coverage and speeds. Word quickly spread and next thing we knew, an email from the president of the college was sent out to all the students and faculty about things to do and web sites to go to, and sure enough, slashdot was listed. Kudos to you guys for keeping up with the coverage and again for having a nice fat pipe to push it all out on! It really helped, and I'm sure my college wasn't the only location where/. became a main source of coverage as cnn.com etc got knocked down by a hundred million people surging onto the net.

Do you like it or take offense that most people remember you or know you as Kirk? Would you rather be remembered as Kirk or as William Shatner? Etc.
i thought they were talking about me

i took a big white trash bag, cut holes in it, and went as white trash.
I could save thousands on drugs. When you start hearing code and seeing machine cycles, though, it's time to slow down.

Burning down Hemos' house wasn't enough. Now he's trying to burn down Colorado.

I guess they ran out of Roman gods already.
Yes, but in order to reach full 10mbps you have to have a diet rich in copper.
Windows XP is hard to pirate? My acquisition of XP came like this:
Me: Hey, do you have a Win2K cd? My computer disintegrated (yay for MS.)
Guy: No, but I have this copy of XP with no activation.
Me: ok, whatever.
dude, when this thing compiles, we're screwed.

UNIX is user-friendly. It's just picky about who its friends are.
